Great, professional and thorough review! Would you still recommend this vest? I’m looking for something light to use for my long run 2-3 hours, mainly to take some water, phone and gels

I’m new to longer distance running, I was looking into something that is lightweight but can hold my phone, water, keys, etc. Would you recommend this or a Salomon running vest? I was looking at either this or the Salomon active skin?

To be honest Zoe, they are both very good vests, we're all different shapes & sizes, so if you can possibly get to a store to try them on, you might find one that just feels more comfortable. When trying them, take with you the gear you might want to carry, as they'll feel different loaded than empty in a store 👍

Might seem like a silly question but can it be washed? If not how do you clean it when it gets sweaty?

Hi Kelly, not a silly question, you can wash it, I'll stick it in a delicate 30deg wash, it comes out great & doesn't smell! (I don't use softener with it)

I am using the Ultimate Direction Ultra Vest 5.0 10L Hydration Vest which has been a great pack, when did you test the pack at as it looks a great place to run??

Excellent review and thanks for sharing! Was not aware of the Montane brand (being in the US, originally from Switzerland) and always open to new brands and products. Fit seems to be great. Will be interesting to see what changes if any are in the final production release. I use the Nathan VaporAir 7L vest, but have used hydration belts if the aid stations are close together. Thanks as well for filming the test run - what trail and is it the same location where you filmed the Spitfire? Beautiful!

Thanks Ray, no it's a different trail to the Spitfire trail, this ones on my doorstep, nice hill with stunning views & super local to me. It will be interesting to see if they make any small adjustments when it's released, i don't think they'll have much to change & the fit is spot on. I've not used Nathan before, would be nice to try it out :)

Nathan is designed by famous ultrarunners Rob Krar and fits well and is adjustable, light yet quality construction, and one of the best storage capacities per weight of any vest.

Great review! Personally I use the Salomon Adv 12 but this looks like an interesting option. Do you have a weight for this vest?

Thanks Dan, I've the Salomon Adv 12 as well, this one's a little heavier, I'm sure I have the weight listed in the video, from memory I think it was 259g, it's a little more substantial than the Salomon but it is smaller.

@@TheDeterminedRunner Kinda wish it was lighter than the Salomon given the reduced storage. With that said, it'll be lighter when packed given I have a tendency to overpack given the chance.

@Denning76 Slightly heavier materials used, meaning it'll be a bit more robust than the Salomon, I know what you mean about overpacking if it's possible, I've done that too many times, kitchen sink comes to mind 😂

Years ago I had a north face pack with velcro. When you are out running, the Velcro part wrecks your T-shirt as it runs against it after time. So not a fan of Velcro

Yeah I could see that being an issue with velcro, hopefully if it only faces one direction the t shirt may be ok. I remember having a TNF vest a few years ago & the clips kept coming undone, I'm testing a new one of theirs at the moment & it's much much better than the old one. Thanks for watching Paul :)

The Determined Runner - I found it’s the sticky Velcro bit with the hooks that causes problems. If it isn’t in perfect alignment or there is some overhang, it rips your T-shirt up over a long run. I would advice them to look at another way of securing the bottom section

I have the Adv skin 12 as well, it's super comfortable & I love the stretch fabric they use. I'd say the Montane vest is just a little more durable but not as big. Thanks for watching :)
