great video - Montbell makes nice jackets, you are lucky to live in Japan 😊

Montbell has all kinds of hiking gears, their size fits Asian better. And they are not overpriced too.

Now it is not overpriced - I live in Denmark and have to pay tax for shopping in Switzerland - still it is not expensive... Tjek out my review og Montbell´s Thermawrap jacket and pants:kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmOvnpdnqZydpas

Hey, I know it’s been a long time since you posted this video but what size would you recommend me to buy? I’m 184cm, skinny and usually wear a medium/small in us/eu sizing, and for reference I have a size medium arc’teryx atom lt hoody and it fits me very well. I’m looking to order this jacket from the japanese website so I guess the sizing is a little different there. What size would you recommend? Great review by the way!

Thank you for watching. Montbell Japan size is smaller, so Japan L = US M. I got atom LT hoody in Small size and it fits me perfectly. But you are much taller so I think you should at least get Japan L size. This is not a mid layer jacket so you want to have some room for layering. There is a US version which is larger.

Thanks a lot! I think I will get an XL to make sure it's not too small :)@@exploreryen

Hey I have a question I am 180 cm and 55 kg so I am skinnier I want to buy the same jacket from the Japan site and I usually wear a m or s which size would you recommend because Japanese sizing is different and your review is amazing
@exploreryen10 ай бұрын
Japan size L is more like US size M. I would say getting a Japan size L since you are tall. I'm afraid size m is too short for you(it may not cover your butt). The weight to warmth ratio is great. I love this jacket.

I'm looking to order this jacket from the Montbell JP store. I'm normally a S/M in US. Are you happy with the XL Japan size? It seems like a big jump up and wanted to confirm with you before I order. Thanks!

What's your height and weight? I normally wear size M/L in Japan montbell but I use this jacket as an emergency jacket. So XL fits every layers of clothes easily. If this is my only every day jacket in winter, I would pick Japan size L(more like size M in USA).

@@exploreryen Very helpful thank you! I am 5’7” 155lbs. I’m leaning towards the XL to use on top of shell when stopped and resting. Does that make sense?
@exploreryen4 жыл бұрын
You are slightly bigger than me. Last Christmas, I could fit it over arc'teryx atom lt & Montane flux (belay jacket). XL would give plenty of room for that.

Hi, How did the XL work out? Thinking of picking one up, I’m usually between medium and large in the US. Can’t decide between the Large and XL on the JP site. Thanks

How does this compare to the mountain equipment vega jacket you previously reviewed?
@exploreryen6 жыл бұрын
Montbell is lighter(480g) and slightly warmer due to box wall construction. Vega(590g) is more technically built, the shell fabric is weather resistant and durable. Montbell is size XL (L in US) compared to Vega size small. I can layer as much clothes in montbell but only a thick fleece with Vega. However, montbell size tends to run short and small. I'll have a review of my valandre bifrost soon.

@@exploreryenDoes the montbell shell seem fragile? Are you happy with it overall?
@exploreryen6 жыл бұрын
The shell fabric is 20-denier Ballistic Nylon, it's thin but not fragile like the Montbell Mirage(7-denier). However, I wouldn't wear mine for bush wacking or with a heavy camping backpack(+50L & 30lbs)on. I love this jacket, it's light weight and warm. I can have 4 pieces of layer underneath it without restriction to my torso and arm.
