BURNIN SONG!!!!! When my girlfriend Debbie and I were seeing each other she invited me, & my sisters Eva & Caroline to a birthday party for one of her closest friends. A lot of her friends came as well. Debbie was so THRILLED we could make it. She introduced us to her friends and they were happy to meet us!!! We were enjoying everyone's company and also had something to eat as well. Debbie's friend was playing some AWESOME music and everyone was showing their best dance moves!!!! This song was an all- time favorite of ours as children!!!! Her friend had a contest and everyone was happy about it. We were the last ones and enjoyed watching everyone else including Debbie. I asked her friend to play this song and my sister Eva then said to everyone, " Now we will show you how it is DONE"!!!!! Eva, Caroline, and Me, then got on the dance floor and DESTROYED IT!!! Everyone was SCREAMING & FREAKING OUT!!! Debbie started to FREAK OUT and cried her eyes OUT!!! Eva, Caroline, & me were holding each other's hands and put on a dance clinic!!!! We got done & everyone was in "SHOCK"!!! Everyone asked us where we learned to dance. I told everyone Eva taught us & we started dancing when we were very young and we taught Caroline to dance too. All of us then hugged Debbie and kissed her. Eva put her hands on Debbie's face then told her, " You better to be ready to be taught some REAL dance moves because you are going to be taught starting RIGHT NOW!!!! Then I held her and kissed her deeply!!!! I then told her, " You are going to find out how much we REALLY LOVE YOU"!!! 😍😍❤❤💋💋🌩🌩⚡⚡⚡🌀🌀🌀🔥🔥🔥☢☢☢

I saw my favorite local band play this for the first time a few weeks ago. I went to Sandals in Montego Bay in 1989, then 30 years later went back to photograph and videotape my nephews wedding. I have had a rough year but things started getting better. After hearing it, I decided to go back for a third time to hang with my sister and brother in law over Christmas week. The power of music. Love this tune. Bobby is still touching hearts and souls from the great beyond

I appreciate your re-edit. This song has a special spot in my heart. As I was signing my application to the US Peace Corps this was playing on the jukebox in the student union building. Two months later I received my assignment to Kingston, Jamaica. The year Bobby Bloom died I finished Peace Corps and moved to Montego Bay to run a small small hotel that was only a five minute walk to Doctor's Cave Beach. And yes I "lie on a lilo till I was lobster red" many times. From Doctor's Cave you could watch the planes land at the MoBay airport. So yes BOAC was a major airline there. It was never the same when it became British Airways. Again, thank you for the re-edit with photos. It takes me back.

When I heard it as a 9 year old in 1970, what I imagined was that the singer was coming to this bay to go deep sea fishing, and Vernon was the owner/captain of the boat, but I also thought he was singing "the keys to the ENGINE will be in his hand" (as in a boat engine). Later, I figured Vernon was a guy who Bobby befriended when he delivered his MG rental car to the airport. Vernon works at or owns the car rental concession at the airport. I picture him driving up in the MG and handing the keys to Bobby as they catch up with each other's lives. Gillian (who meets him like a brother would) is the bartender at the hotel where he stays. He makes chilled rum drinks and serves them on a silver tray. Bobby has befriended these guys on his trips to Montego Bay, and the song is him thinking about how great it will be when he can come back to Montego Bay and see them. At the risk of ruining a childhood memory, who the heck else would they be?
