I would love to learn more about allowance from a Montessori perspective. Also, after the attacks this week, my first thought was your family-- my heart goes out to you guys, navigating raising biracial children in a world where there is so much hate, and I hope and pray we can all work together and give your girls (and every child of color) the world they DESERVE to grow up in where everyone is loved and valued for who they are.

Thank you so much. We are fortunate that Mike nor our girls have ever experienced anything related to these atrocious crimes, but our hearts go out to the individuals and families who have been victim to it. ❤️ My heart breaks to think that anyone should have to endure such horrible treatment based on the color of their skin or their ethnic background. My greatest hope is to effect at least some change toward greater world peace by changing the way that we raise our children and sharing the Montessori love with all of you. The world could certainly use some more Montessori in it! ❤️🌏

Greetings from Namibia Africa , you light up my day. how do I get my husband on board with Montessori education?
@MariaandMontessori
@MariaandMontessori 3 жыл бұрын
Is there something in particular about it that deters him from implementing it? I showed my husband the school I was at and what the children are eventually able to do if we implement the Montessori principle. There are also a lot of wonderful videos online explaining the reason Montessori is better than traditional education, maybe show a few of those to him!

@@MariaandMontessori thank you for your suggestions. Every time implement Montessori related activities he doesn't fully support or would do the opposite, example he exaggerate apologies, talks baby language instead real words... Etc
@MariaandMontessori
@MariaandMontessori 3 жыл бұрын
@@happinessimbili ah even my husband, who is on board, sometimes slips up and does these things. Clapping is his favorite. I try to stop him, very politely, in the moment and tell him why that's not beneficial for our daughter and what IS beneficial. For example, "baby language can confuse her and delay her speech because she will try to follow what you're saying and learn it incorrectly. You may think it is fun, but it is really confusing for her and will be hard for her to fix it later. Let's be respectful to her. She is a human,let's talk to her like a human." It can be very hard to unlearn what we have seen our whole life, so I try to have patience with him as well. In a way, teaching Montessori to 2 kids 😅

That teddy bear is adorable! So great to hear that Kylie had a say in some of the decor in her room! I doubt this is the case, but do Kylie and Mia ever get "territorial" with their rooms? Not wanting to let the other touch something or move something around (like Kylie's favorites on her shelf)? My brother is 13 years younger so I had a very different sibling dynamic growing up 😅

When you mention only using certain toys when you are able to supervise, that really makes me wonder again - how much of their typical day are you directly involved/supervising their play? And how much of that time you are just doing something completely separate? I am going through a very difficult time with a near 1 y.o. and a just turned 3 y.o. My oldest is not seeming settled with the whole thing of having to share my attention and is having a harder than ever time actually doing anything without my involvement. Would love to build a picture of where your family is at with it at 2 and 4. And the bedroom is looking really lovely of course!

I really like the way Kylie‘s room looks and how minimalist it is. My daughter is 4 years as well (soon turning 5) and her room is a lot more cluttered. We do manage to keep it tidy and everything has a place, but I still feel like it’s overwhelming sometimes. So my question is: how do you handle decluttering Kylie‘s stuff? I try decluttering with my daughter every once in a while, but usually she wants to keep most things. Sometimes I do it by myself and store the things somewhere she can’t see them, but at this point she knows very well what’s in her room and notices when things are missing. I’d be thankful to learn more about your approach to this. Thank you!

Awe, her room is so grown up! I’d love your opinion on bedroom/playroom setup for two. I have a almost 3 year old and a 3 month old. Right now baby boy sleeps in a bassinet in my room. My toddler has her own room with all her toys and toddler bed. I’d like to transition her into a twin bed and baby into a crib. We have two rooms. Should the kids have there own rooms with toys and bed in their own rooms.. or should they have toys in one room and both of their beds in another room?

I have a question. What do i do when i give my 4 y old 2 options, u can walk by urself holding my hand or u can sit on the stroller. Her anwser is always no or neither. Sits on the street for example and i end up picking her up and carrying her home. Just an example. It happens with everything i give 2 options for she always finds a third option. im so exhausted
@MariaandMontessori
@MariaandMontessori 3 жыл бұрын
This would not be easy, but you would need to be firm and repeat that sitting on the street is not an option because it is dirty and you are going home right now. Offer her the options again, and if she again chooses neither and stays seated, "seems you would like to sit and relax, so let's go ahead and sit in the stroller". Giving in to carrying her home shows that there IS a third option, that she can get to if she just tries hard enough. Again, this is by no means easy, I know. Especially in that scenario where you are really trying to get somewhere. But consistency is really key.

So Ashley, my son has his own bathroom in his room and I have a stool for him where he can reach drawers and see himself in the mirror. Should I still install a mirror and shelf for him to brush his hair and look at himself? Another question, he has a drawer chest in his room where I used dividers for pants, short and long sleeve shirts and shorts and the other bottom drawers for pijamas and socks. Do I need a wardrobe? I could also install a lower rod for his walk in closet for sweaters, jackets and button down shirts (although because of the pandemic and living in California there isn't too much need for these items at the moment. Thanks in advance.

Since you've had both the Sprout bed and the Ikea bed for a while, which do you prefer? Both appeal to me but the bars on the Kura make me hesitant for when our baby's older/taller (say, 4+YO?) and may end up bumping into them while trying to get in/out, but I also like how it's not super open and may not allow roll-outs. What say you? Any chance you could go into Pros and Cons or share your fave :)? (Thanks in advance and also a huge thanks for all your super helpful content!!)

Do you have a baby gate at Kylie's door to stop her from coming out of her room in the middle of the night? If not, how do you ensure she does not go into the bathroom and play with water or something in the middle of the night?
@HapaFamily

Kylie does not do any of those things, she sleeps at night because she is tired and knows it is time for sleep. We also do not have anything preventing her from leaving the room because she often gets nosebleeds at night and needs to come to our room for assistance.
