Montessori: Golden Beads Dynamic Addition

A demonstration of how the golden beads materials are used to teach dynamic addition in the Montessori method, presented by Bluffview Montessori School, Winona, Minnesota. In the demonstration, the golden beads are used to demonstrate the addition of two four-digit numbers (e.g., 1563 + 8265). This is a Montessori "work" that is typically used at the kindergarten and lower elementary levels.

I LOVE that mat for this work. I think the colours and the layout would help the child immensely. Thanks for this i am going to change the way I give this presentation after watching this.

Why do you place the units on the left hand side and the 1000 on the right, does this not confuse the child?

Christel Hermann She's sitting on the opposite side of the mat than the child. The camera man is on the child's side. We see it from the child's point of view.
