My mom WAS an alcoholic , my dad WAS abusive, and I WAS nothing more then a dirtbag (Drugs,Womanizer, Never believed in myself,gangs, racist ect).....it took years. At first i found God and I started believing in him.The more I believed the more I saw God take notice. We all started going to church and volunteering from the heart. My mom has been clean for years. My dad spoke sweeter, and I left my old gang behind, started over, forgave myself, respected everyone equally and met amazing people, I've been clean for many years and I thank God for it everyday. It shows when I told my fiancé about my past..and she couldn't believe it..Dont stop believing!

Montgomery Gentry, God through this song turned my life around. From a depressed, self-harming boy into a purposed, joy-filled man. This song gave me hope at my lowest points. It gave me hope that I could change and become who I am meant to be in Christ.
@KingofSanity3 жыл бұрын
Well sir I'm going to let you know that it wasn't Christ it was you who decided to change, prayer releases endorphins the same as getting a raise at a job does so in turn you picked yourself up and gave yourself the strength because if you truly believe that God created everything then everything is God, therefore you are God, I am God we are all God. No offense when I say this but you talked yourself through your difficulties and YOU answered your own prayers because you are God.

Sweet pea don't you think that maybe she might be trying to make up for that with you and her and other grandchildren. So when I was in the Marines in Iraq 06. Montgomery gentry came out to the base I was on to do a uso show. Unfortunately I couldn't go. I was on a convoy. But everyone else that didn't have obligations went. I'm telling you, when some of them went to that show, they hated country music and had no idea who Montgomery gentry was. They just went because it was a break from the norm. But when they came back, they were all Montgomery gentry fans. With a newfound respect for country music. A few months later, DMX was scheduled to perform a uso show on our base. But he canceled. I'm not joking about this. DMX said it was going to be too hot in Iraq in the summer and never showed. That also turned more people into country fans.

I graduated with a degree in May of last year; I now have a job at the same homeless shelter where I'd been a 'frequent' resident - now I'm a staff member there, where I can encourage others. Also, I've been free of drugs, alcohol, & out of abusive relationships for 16 years. So for anyone who's still struggling with recovery, drug/alcohol abuse - I've been there. When I was 17 last year about to turn 18 I said "I want to quit" and it's still hard right now every time I've tried to quit I've had relapses about every 2 months sometimes once every week and then I came across Matthew 5:28 "Any man who looks at a woman lustfully has committed adultery with her in his heart" and that's when I started to hate what I done and I'm praying to god so hard that I want to run away from my wicked ways and like I said it's still hard.

Through the grace of Christ I’m over 4 years sober. I was a young college frat boy who lived to party. At that point in my life, all I wanted to do was live in the moment. So I was just chasing the crowd. Truly, I loved the bar crawls, the atmosphere, the music, the women, the spring breaks, the people, the concerts, the raves, the festivals and the drinks. People actually thought it was cool that I would seem perfectly sober after drinking a .750 of Svedka. Honestly, looking back I I’m a bit ashamed of that. On game days I’d start drinking at 8am and I’d keep drinking till the bars closed at 2am. I was just always drunk. It was just that once in a lifetime experience where you are literally living with 3 or 4 of your buddies and you have 2 or 3 TVs in your living room. One’s got a game on and the other’s got Netflix and someone is playing call of duty on the other. So it’s an exciting time and you just don’t want it to end or miss out on a single moment. We’d be getting hammered on a Tuesday morning for no reason except someone had a good movie on the TV and we’d already went to the gym that morning. So the life style in general was a bit wild, even just during the off days. I found faith in god though my super senior year. Being 100% honest, I called upon the heavens and promised to give up alcohol if he answered me. In that moment I witnessed a true miracle and believed in God every day onwards. It took me an entire year to get sober but we did it together.

There's hundreds of songs I could recommend but check these out and if you like them I'll give you some more- Darius Rucker- "This" / "Alright" Tim McGraw- "Where the Green Grass Grows" / "Live Like You Were Dying" Keith Urban (probably my favorite country artist)- "Days Go By" / "Someone Like You" / "Better Life" / "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me" Travis Tritt- "Great Day to Be Alive" An insane amount more but see if you like those

I think of my brother when i hear this song. He use to be so abusive not only to his son but also to me. I use to be so afraid of him as a minor. But now he no longer abuses anybody and has changed so much thanks to his beautiful and wonderful fiance. I'm so glad my brother changed for the better.

I hear a lot of stories about people coming to Christ and their lives being transformed for the better. Many stop living for themselves and start living for Christ. Even if you don't believe, it amazes me how anyone could really be against that. Some people go the way. Some abandon Christ and become atheists, or Muslims, or some other beliefs. But, you never hear much good come out of this. With the atheists and Evolutionists, leaving Christianity means turning away from God and to living for themselves. No real morals, or ethics, or rules; just doing whatever they desire. Even if you don't believe in Christ, why be against his teachings. To me, this points to it being true. If it weren't, their wouldn't be nearly as many people against Christ.

John C people fear Christianity and they want to destroy it. if they succeed then where will we go as a society? chaos. no morels, laws'll change, and we will be back to 'Fahrenheit 451'

occasionally silentfox Many fear it and many just hate it because they hate the truth. They hate us as they hated Christ.

I used to be a soulless nerd. Got off the medication and started making some friends. Started nursing school. Failing it. And starting a new study as gardener next year. Is it all hard? Yes. But there must be light at the end of it

My father is a drunk, mother is an addict who took her own life in 2011. I started down the drug path. Bad. Hard. Through the grace of God. August 22nd 2012, i found out i was going to be a mother. And i refused to be the parent i had. Over 5 years sober. 2 perfect boys. And a damn good husband. This was the best song they played in concert last time. Was one of Troys last shows. Extremely blessed to have seen this in concert. Fly high Troy!
