So I've always been envious of sisterlocs but have never had the money to do it. So I did my own braidlocs. They are a little smaller then yours and when you said you wanted to combine I understood but was thinking no you should just leave it. But now I think it looks amazing!!!! Starting to relive mine by looking at yours. I love yours even more. I appreciate both sides but man these look nice. Great job 👏

@@lavenialivinglife thank you, I would always save up but since I was on maternity I would always put the funds towards something else. My mom and I kept watching videos on KZbin then just decided to install braidlocs and it's been the best decision ever. My mom's grew so fast and it's been an amazing journey.

True story - after I spent 11 bucks purchasing a tool on Amazon, I came on KZbin and literally saw someone with the most GORGEOUS microlocks doing her own self retie with a hairpin 🤦🏾 I wanted to slap myself. Oh well.

@@hawtnsweet 😂 it's okay, I spent like 20 on this retie tool. It's okay because I supported a black owned business, but still. Now when I'm just on the couch or even at work, feeling around my head and when I feel one that has a little too much new growth I just tighten it up right there with my fingers. Locs are magic, IDC what anyone says!

I did this as well, two years ago. It’s going to look beautiful I love my hair more now. I used the two strand twist method with about 5-6 sisterlocks in each twist.

4 hours is not bad! They look really good! You did a good job! Correct combine when there is a lot of. Eww growth first. You could also use the crochet needle to get the Locd part to combine together.

Hey Lavenia! That was me (sbraxtonjagers on IG) who messaged you about whether you thought it would make a difference retying your sisterlocks first or just combining the new growth. I just combined my sisterlocks (with the help of my sis in law) with the new growth, and I'm glad I did it that way! That served as my retie. My sis in law was able to grab all the new growth and hairs that grow outside of my grid and I'm very happy with the outcome! I opted to do the two strand twist instead of plaiting my sisterlocs to combine them and because my sister in law twisted them tightly I was able to retain length. There are still some locs that I think needs to be combined again, and I will have my loctician do that. She's seeing clients again at the end of May. YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY! Anyhoo, your locs look GORGEOUS and I'm very happy with my combined locs as well!!

Lovely look, are you still using the Crown spray and how did you figure out how many Sisterlocks to combine into one lock it looks perfectly proportioned. Loving the outcome and easy maintenance.

Thank you! I've used up all the spray maybe a month or so ago. For combining, I knew I wanted a square base to I aimed to combine 4 sisterlocks into one & 3 when I didn't have 4.

I think I want a size in between the two sizes you’ve had. I know I will not maintain micro but don’t know it I can handle the weight of the larger ones I want my hair to reach waist length without hurting my neck. 🤔

I used a Instant Lock Tool (small crochet hook) to combine the ends together

Thank you! I actually love the braids! I don't mind them at all. I honestly haven't noticed any shrinkage. Braiding them really helped me to retain the length I had with the Sisterlocks.
