Edinburgh is costlier for sure, it is mostly based on tourism, so everything is bit costlier. Glasgow is a financial hub so it is more preferred to live and work. Of course Edinburgh is gorgeous and a dream.

both the countries has good universities but living in scotland will be cheaper than london. other cities in england are cheaper. mainly rents are very high in london rest of the places is fine. But salaries are also better in london than in other places.
