Certainly in their early meetings, lendl felt he really had Agassi under control. He beat him in 2 US Open semis and at the masters in 88. Agass's game suited lendl perfectly i think. Agassi had a couple of wins later but lendl was struggling a bit with his back by then

88 and 89 were bad years for Lendl. He should have never lost the 88 AO semi against Cash, the 88 US Open final against Wilander, the 89 FO 3rd round against Chang, the 89 Wimbledon semi against Becker and the 89 US Open final against Becker. If he had only won one of those matches, it would be a different conversation today. I truly believe Lendl burned himself out by playing, practicing and training way to much and spending his extra time on the golf courses. He eventually messed up his lower back for good.

Agassi's tennis was so much modern than Lendl's one.

Don't agree...Lendls serve, FH, fitness is the standard for tennis today
@toddmcwhinnie1479 Жыл бұрын
Agassi had the more modern game. Hit the ball early, stood on the baseline for most of the rallies. Power off both wings. Two-handed backhand. Watch Lendl at the French Open or against Wilander at the US Open. Never took the ball early and hit very few baseline winners. Stood 5-10 feet behind the baseline in the rallies. Lendl's serve was much better though. @@Zapatero33158

Lendl has much more modern game : nobody stays so close to baseline now like Agassi.

Only in Canada would they host center court with a giant shadow gradually imposing and causing obvious issues for the players in the middle of the day. Typical Canada not knowing the basics at this level of tennis.

Look at Halle today. The center court has a big X over it with the shadow.

you see that plenty of other places too, but I agree it makes the quality of tennis and the tv broadcast lower
