John Barratt commentating and making an interesting comment at 01:47 - the courts at the Australian Open back then when it was held at Kooyong were weird. They were built on a slope to assist with drainage and you were hitting the ball uphill from one end, downhill from the other. As John Barratt said, it really seemed to disturb a lot of good servers. It may well go some way to explain why both Boris Becker and John McEnroe never really performed well when the Australian Open was held at Kooyong.

As an aussie and fan, it was interesting that after this loss, a leading magazine here was incredibly positive and praized Cash's form and performance during that years AO. The author of the article ( cant remember their name ) went on to say that Cash will likely go on " to win this years Wimbledon" . Thought it was a bold statement at thst time - but sure enough , Cash blitzt the field at the 1987 Championships, soundly beating Lendl in the final

Classic serve-and-volley tennis of a high order, no doubt. Edberg is surely one of the greatest players ever in that category. Didn't Pat win Wimbledon that year, beating Lendl? If so, he had a truly great year. Looks a little like a young Mel Gibson.
