True story. My gay brother from Toronto-very shy guy- visited Montreal one time and he ended up sleeping with a girl he met in a bar. I suppose he was really drunk but it tells you something about the friendliness of Montreal girls. Then he went back to Toronto where all the stuck up girls live and he is back to being gay again.

Hi, to the people saying hurtful things about French Canadians. I`m sorry you had a bad experience in Montreal or within Quebec. I promise that if you approach French Canadians with kindness and try your best at using as much French as possible, they will do the same curtesy to you and try their best at English. or politely tell you that they can`t speak it and express their sadness at not being able to communicate with you. I think this video was interesting and I think that varying opinions are normal. Let`s not try to bring each other down, but lift each other up. Take care, a French Canadian

+Dating Beyond Borders I don't understand why this would be anyone's concern. It's all about preference. Besides, someone being the same race or culture as you does not guarantee that your relationship with them will succeed. It's not about race. It's about "values". I've learned this the hard way. I know too many couples where they were of the same ethnic background, but they did not share the same values. Always sabotages a relationship.

I live in Toronto and visit Montreal from time to time, part of the issue with Toronto is that a large portion of the people here simply can't afford to live here. As a result they work excessively and stress over their career aspirations practically all the time. When money is on your mind often and you're stressed dating isn't a thought. I will move to Montreal when I have some more work experience and graduate, I want to work to live not live to work.

If you have lots of confidence you can do things like approach strangers, it's a great thing to have, and you can have a lot of fun with it. But if you've been single for a long time, it can be difficult to be confident. It can gradually chip away at your self-esteem if you're not careful.

Montreal hands down. As someone who moved from Australia to Toronto, it's incredibly difficult to meet women here. All it took was a few visits to Montreal, and other cases from my Toronto friends who actually have girlfriends in Montreal, to convince me that Montreal is a way better city to be single in. The first guy at 1:38 and 6:30 nailed it too!
@Babu-kr3cr6 жыл бұрын
Some places are just very socially backwards and awkward. That is how Toronto looks to a degree. The USA is much worse.
@tonyk5019 жыл бұрын
If not for their horrible winters, I would have moved to Montreal a long time ago. Everyone and their pet animals are more approachable and sociable in Montreal and they also dress impeccably well. As this video also indicates, Toronto is likely one of the worst places to live for traffic, congestion, commuting, dating, mingling, socializing, scenery, auto insurance prices, and a number of other things ad nauseum. Although I am sure there are occasional exceptions, flirting with a woman in Toronto (or attempting to) will often be received as if the guy has some sort of mental disorder. I am born and raised in Toronto but now live in Vancouver where I am much happier living in a smaller city with a more laid back west coast lifestyle that also features better climate, weather, scenery and outdoors. There are also fitter, better looking women in Vancouver and women tend to outnumber men, but that being said, the dating scene can be difficult. There are likely multiple reasons for this but one reason is the Asian and South Asian-dominated cultural demographics here. Many Asians tend to look for partners (men or women) and social company within their own culture. That is just a fact of reality. You can still meet people in Vancouver, but you will definitely have to be proactive in getting yourself out there and get involved in sports or activities you enjoy doing so that you can meet people through those avenues. Also, do not be afraid to approach women in Vancouver exuding some class and confidence...they are not used to it and are often surprised by it but they will usually be open enough to engaging in conversation with you (as opposed to Toronto women). Meanwhile, it should go without saying that Montreal women are the gold standard by which all women should be...

Thank you for making & posting this video. I am a francophone female from Montreal and moved to Toronto 10 years ago. Watching this reinforced some of the feelings that I have been trying to figure out for quite some time. As much as I dislike generalizing and I would have been the first one to challenge this topic a few years ago, but I must say, without getting in too much depth, I must agree and think there’s indeed a difference in the social dynamic and the way people interact way people interact between the two cities, applying to both singles and non-singles.

Great video again, Marina! I'm always a bit worried when I see another Montreal vs. Toronto article/video, since they're often pretty biased, but I think that this one has a great core message. Although it sometimes seems like in Montreal the guys simply have to sit around for a few minutes for the girls to approach him (which is certainly not the case), it's true that people love the 'joie de vivre' and are more approachable and sociable with random strangers and like to be themselves in the open (as shown in the introduction around 1:00 - 1:10). As for Toronto (and the rest of Ontario that I've visited for that matter): I think it's more the politeness that prevails rather than the kindness. I usually feel interactions are more from a facade than from the actual person. It takes time to get to know someone as to where in Quebec you'll figure out very fast what the person actually thinks/feels/intends. Keep also posting the videos on the Montreal CS page, they seem to be popular! ;-)

To normal hetero men only: Toronto is an internment camp designed by and for corporate drones. A city filled with ennervated, edgy, and emotionally damaged people who happen also to be too guarded to even want to expand their social circles. The people who do best here are the immigrants who bring an entire entourage of fellow nationals and who just want to settle down and start a family. The big city lights of the city will get old quickly (especially because the city itself is rather drab and conservative) so it will be the impoverished social climate that will begin to weigh on you fairly quickly once installed here. If you stand to earn major coin, then T.O. might be worth a little bit of the your sanity, otherwise do yourselves a huge favour and don't fall for the hype about the place. The city's a big fat ZERO. There are so many other places, with better weather and social climate than Boronto.

The problem with lowering your guard and doing a move, for the genuine guy at least is that the amount of time he got hurt along the way, the strength to still keep at it is almost synonymous to madness. Though taking your time and be genuine all the way like that guy in the hoodie said, is truly the key to great encounters in general and be it guys or girls ( Friends wise). Evidently, at that point , your perspective of life will be different and even if you got hurt in the past, realizing your current life and future decisions will be of course molded by your previous experiences, but will still ultimately be NEW experiences. Thus learning from your mistakes , live on . The right woman will come and that's that. It'll be worth the wait, that's what I say. Of course my comment is enormously based on personal experience, so it might not be as universal as initially intended.. Woops lol! :) Lovely video nonetheless, you just won a subscriber ! They aren't open to meeting new guys outside they're circle but if you happen to isolate one of those girls and get her on a date one of their "friends" will definately sabotage any chance of success due to spite or jealousy. They also want a high end man with good looks and who is well off yet have very little to offer themselves. Montreal all the way they pretty much let you know they're interested 😉

This video is so deceptive. I live in Toronto now but I lived in Montreal for 10 years and let me tell you, it was not easy to meet people there. Yes, Toronto is not an easy place to socialize but neither is Montreal. Canadians, whether in Vancouver, Halifax, Toronto or Montreal are SHY. We are very timid to approach people, so if you have nerve, you do well but if you're shy, like most people, it won't be easy. I still have good friends in Montreal and they are all single and looking. In fact, I have one friend in Montreal who has been alone and single, since I've known him. (over 20 years) He is too shy to approach anyone and nobody ever approaches him. He's lonely but what can you do if you're shy? Even internet dating is not working for him. People on internet sites are impossible to deal with. To pretend it's easy to meet someone in Montreal is rather deceptive. It's not about the city, it's about YOU and your self confidence. If you have nerve, you will do well in both Toronto and Montreal. If not, sorry but you are SCREWED! Get over your shyness, CANADA!
@DatingBeyondBorders10 жыл бұрын
Hi Torontopia, You definitely have a point. Here, I was comparing two cities and while I find Montreal is much easier to meet both men and women in, both are still in Canada and are not as open as let's say Colombia or Italy. Canada does need to get over the shyness.. I see it every day as I go out. The only way the two sexes can talk is if they get drunk and that's just sad.. Keep watching!

if what i'm learning about Toronto ladies is anything to go by then something drastic and concerted has to be done. So many people can't be saying the same thing if it's not true. I plan coming to settle in Canada in the near future and i may have to dump Toronto for Quebec even though i've sworn never to live in any non English speaking area after my frustrating stay in mauritius where you meet a very cute lady and she gives you the green light only to learn that she doesn't understand a word of English. I'm relieved to learn that Montrealeans(or whatever they go by) are billingual. Though i'm learning french too. I hope it comes handy. Merci beaucoup.

Im from toronto and only been to Montreal once on NYE. I have to say this is pretty accurate, although the most of women were not Montrealians,the ones I did happen to speak to were beyond friendly and nice, despite my minimal french. The women weren't approaching but we shared eye contact, I tooka chance and we went from there. Toronto is perfectly expressed by that group of 4 with the really tall girl. They don't know what they want but think they will if it approaches them. They want something very specific and won't settle for anything else. The dating scene isnt bad here its just that places like clubs, bars, streets etc are so frowned up by women here.

@FuShengAlex4 жыл бұрын
Pfft I couldnt live anywhere else in Canada. But I don't mind visiting other cities The main drawback to Montreal for me is most of the "newcomers" are north African Arabs from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. They are very insular. I'm not racist at all, as I've been with women from every different continent. Their men want every woman (or I should be more specific white Quebecois, as they dislike us black people, especially our women) to be accepting of them, so they can get to do things they cant do within their own culture. Their men are out at clubs and bars in droves chasing women whereas all their women are supposed to stay at home or in mosques and not do "haram" things or else they will be an embarrassment to their family or communities. They are lowkey trying to subjugate the province of Quebec to adapt to their way of life.

@berly939710 жыл бұрын
xMazingerZ you don't even speak real French. The second language should be a native Indian language and not French. Its funny that you don't like English imposed on you but you impose this Quebec French on everyone. English is my second language and every educated person should learn English. Obviously Quebecers don't want to separate. This was clear in the last elections. but you are welcome to seperate, since soon Quebec is going to turn into an arab country.
@DocteurInfierno10 жыл бұрын

People in Toronto seem a lot more guarded than people in Montreal. Montreal has that very high-class, but open and cultural vibe that is extremely European (think Italy, France, etc.). Toronto is much more like New York City. The problem with Montreal, as most of my female friends say, is that they have so many guy friends. Whereas in Toronto it's normally groups of guys OR girls going out, people in Montreal go out in unisex groups. This a) makes it difficult for guys to understand if a girl wants more than friendship and b) makes it harder for outside guys to approach a girl because they may think that she's with one of her male friends. Just the opinions of my friends.

Especially in a city like here in Toronto - dating in the pre-corona world was incredibly tough. Most of the women in Toronto don't appreciate men coming up to them and trying to start a conversation. I moved here 6 years ago and I can say it hand in heart. Thanks to Covid ,the masks and social distancing - Dating now is further complicated more than ever. I wouldn't recommend moving to Toronto if you would like a decent dating life.

I don't fear rejection but a lot of women in Toronto are antisocial. I can approach a woman no problem but Toronto women seem not that friendly. I have lived in Kingston area, Ottawa area, and London, Ontario besides Toronto. Toronto is the worst place to approach women. The only way a woman is going to actually be approachable is purely for sex, but that has been rare.

Personally i live in Montreal and i see is not quite true what your show reporting. Yes is intercultural but people trend to be conservative and stereotyped. I feel also lonely when i try to talk with people they try to put me as ethnic group to focus their thinking and since I'm a mix of three culture Quebec, Salvador and Haiti ( I'm a half Salvadorians / half Haitians but i born here) sometimes i wondering if people here are really open- minded. I wish you guys could interview me about the subject because a lot guys feel the same way here.
@user-wg6ek8bv9y5 жыл бұрын
I think in Toronto it's different but the same. People love diversity in Toronto but you have to wear it all the time, like you have to somehow show you are so Salvadorian, Haitian or something to be cool and have friends. For example I know so many italian people here who think they are so italian, always talking about italian best food best this and that, but the same people when they try to live in Italy no one there really consider them italian anymore. Toronto has no identity in this regard. You are expected to salsa and love jerk chicken probably

I live in Toronto. Majority of the girls in Toronto don't like getting approached in the bar/nightclub and etc. Women above 27+ are very easy to approach and start a convo while girls in their late teens, early 20s are extremely hard to approach. Only type of girls from 18 to 23 that will engage with you are girls from out of town that are in Toronto for University/College. Montreal is a totally whole different story. Toronto : A place where you can start a business, have family and etc for 30 + year olds Montreal : Place to party (under 30)

So if I want good nightlife, social people (not reserved, especially girls) and nice looking girls, not so much stress aswell, which city is the best? I am fucking tired of europe and Stockholm. Same fucking shit every nightlife. Every night I go out I always regret that I went out, I don't want to feel the same in canada. Toronto seems to be exactly like Stockholm.

+habbomanish Come to Thailand if you want to experience great nightlife and social life. So many Scandinavian people come there. I lived in Thailand several years before coming to Toronto one year ago. Despite having a great job I cannot wait to leave Canada. People are very reserved and cliquey. Dating, well, dating is just abysmal. Maybe for people born here who never traveled much it seems normal, but it is not - it is so much dysfunctional. If you want to try North America, go to USA. Otherwise there so much better places for socializing, dating and night life. You will have more chances to date a canadian girl being in Thailand rather than in Toronto :)
@unknownninja44308 жыл бұрын
i agree with eugene, if you want to come to north america, you must go to the northeast usa (or chicago). even the busy new yorkers are more open and direct than canadians in general. montreal and quebec city are the only decent cities in canada, but the rest of canada is just going to remind you of sweden.
