Tamara Kennedy... you are SOOO right! I have been listening to "Casta Diva" for the last hour and-a- half!!! It is pure crystal, the soaring of an eagle, the tenderness of a newborn, the glory of a sunrise, the majesty of a sunset, the roaring of the sea, and the gentleness of the Holy Spirit... you don't know where it comes from and you don't know where it goes. May she rest in peace and, to paraphrase Shakespeare but altering the quote slightly... "Good night, Montserrat, may you join the choirs of angels singing God to His rest."

Her mother, when the family was starving, took her to the Shrine of the Madonna of Montserrat and dedicated her child to the Holy Mother, if She would help them. That is why it is said that her child's voice came from the angels. With it, she became one of the three most respected soprano singers of her century. At 73 here, she is well past her prime, and has lost a good deal of weight, but the sheer beauty of her character, her faith and the legend of her achievement carries this prayer back to the angels, with whom she is now singing again.
