The energy I get from this ever-magnificent performance is Mr Freddie was really excited to show Madam Montserrat what he could do, doing all those fabulous gestures and range of voice - sort off like a young boy showing off before his great idol. The grand lady of soprano reciprocated by keeping cool and letting the boy show what he got first, before treating him to a spectacular refrain starting at 4mins30secs. Her facial expression while belting the powerful outro was almost like saying: "Now, now. You had your fun showing off. It's me now, boy. Enjoy it!" Mr Freddie certainly did, right? Hahahaha. Oh, this showcase always gives me goosebumps! They both looked like they're having so much fun and love with each other...R.I.P. to both legends.

It's fun, it's well done, and the relationship between the singers is interesting and touching. But it's also a bit kitsch! For collaborations that may in fact have matched or exceeded it, one only has to think of Freddie's duet with David Bowie, Under Pressure. Or what about George Michael and Aretha Franklin. Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. Stevie Wonder and Syreeta, I mean they're not hard to come up with. Freddie ranged over many styles, and brilliantly. Montserrat Cabailles sang in a more restricted field, but it's difficult to overstate how good she was at something that is incredibly difficult to do. Those floated high notes that were one of her calling cards, would achieve miraculous smallness, without falling apart, an effect that in many operas she was able to deploy to sublime effect. Freddie was a natural singing talent, and he worked his voice. But he could not have sung opera without training, and nor did she. She really worked hard to achieve the sound that made her career. It's really hard. So, this was a duet, by two legendary singers who allowed themselve this opportunity to explore one another's art, and meld the two together. Montserrat was not Freddie's backing singer.

@@Cozy25 безусловно, это правда. Но глядя на современные тренды в музыке(конкретно русские), меня охватывают переживания в первую очередь за духовное состояние молодёжи. Глубокие смысл песен 80-х, 70-х всегда заставляет меня задуматься о смысле жизни, о моих поступках. А слушая подавляющее большинство треков из трендов меня ничего не трогает. Это просто песни, под которые можно танцевать в клубах. Однако им уделяют такое большое внимание. А, не побоюсь сказать, классику почти все считают устаревшей, и ,что характерно, некоторые знают классику по перепевкам других, более молодых исполнителей. И я не хотел никого оскорбить, просто написал своё субъективное мнение про уровень музыкальной культуры в нашей стране. И я не против продолжить дискуссию по этой теме 🙂

@@LooksLike220 я с неделю назад была вынуждена сидеть перед телевизором с включённым музТВ . Там какое-то шоу на стадионе шло , несколько часов . Мягко говоря , я была в шоке . Мало того , что сами песни ,,неочём" , так ещё и танцевальные номера , как в публичном доме , хоть я и не пуританского воспитания , много повидала за долгую жизнь . Но в доковидную зиму ходила в наш , в Ижевске , оперный театр , школьников водят на балет , но именно водят! , классами . Но молодых ,,добровольцев" в театре не видела .

I just watched this again and I must say how much the love and respect Montserrat and Freddie had for each other, the abiding friendship meant. She described with tears in her eyes how Freddie was so concerned for her safety after he learned he was HIV Positive. Back then it was a death sentence. Freddie faced it bravely and the great opera diva never stopped her loving friendship for an amazingly unique and talented Freddie.

К сожалению только Барселона стала громким хитом остальные песни с этого альбома полная ерунда чисто для галочки можно было просто ограничится синглом одноименной песни на этом мини концерте из 4 песен уже видно что фрейди болен по его манере движению взгляду видно как он сильно волнуется в его глазах грусть очень жаль что когда человек знает что скоро умрет и ничего с этим не можешь поделать с каждым днём с смерть с косой все ближе фрейди из последних сил создавал музыку он хотел жить в этом и была его сила духа... манере движением взгляду
