I love the little absurdities in this. All Python sketches contain such tidbits, but this one dials it up to 11. The fact that Terry Jones has been given a nickname, more or less against his will, based on such a banal thing, and the fact that he doesn't even own two sheds, but rather is considering buying a second one, and that's enough for such a nickname to stick. Just brilliant

@u.v.s.5583 Жыл бұрын
So did he write his music in a shed?
@carminum Жыл бұрын
@@u.v.s.5583 This is what happened. During one of our lessons at conservatory we came to talk about the Arthur Jackson sketch. We laughed at the whole idea of a composer going out to his shed to do his composing. One day he decided, as he sometimes did, to teach from home, so he picked me up from the station and drove us to his house. When turning up the drive my eye was caught by two small adjacent buildings near the house. Recognising a 'Toad Elevating Moment' I shouted: You actually HAVE two sheds! He explained that he used the smaller shed for composing chamber music and the other one for writing large stage works. In reality the sheds were in use by his wife and him as garages for their cars. Of course it comes as no surprise that since then I frequently called him "Twosheds". But it gets even funnier. His house was in the country, a beautiful cottage like establishment surrounded by a forrest. The house and forrest were one property. Which probably makes David the only composer ever to have had two sheds and his own forrest. And for something completely surrealist now: imagine David and me taking a break from a lesson and have a little walk through the forrest... passing the two sheds. Leaves me with mentioning that Arthur Jackson is one of my favorite composers.
