Mathlete here: for the record, the only rectangle you can make out of 365 is 5 x 73. I guess one could make an absurdly long mood/temperature scarf? Anyhow, love your blanket - it looks so inviting!

Well, with 2” squares that would work out to 10 inches x 12 feet, so, we’re approaching Tom Baker Dr Who levels of scarf, but that could look really cool in patchwork.

I did a granny square temp blanket this year - it's a 366 day year because it's a leap year. I added 12 squares to acknowledge each month. 21 rows, 18 columns.

Thanks for the idea! I started one January 1st. I broke my ankle seriously last year and need to do physical therapy exercises everyday. So my squares will represent whether or not I've done my exercises, my mood and whether I was productive or not. It will fit a queen sized bed. Months with 31 days will be squares in 2 lines (15 and 16 squares across.) Months with less than 31 days will be small circles in one line across. This will make a natural separation for each month. So far it has helped keep me accountable exercising and has helped my mood. It has helped me recognize when I'm on a slippery slope and need to pick myself up. ❤❤ Thank you for your videos!!

Love, Love, Love this idea!!!! I love reading, writing and yarn so to combine all three seems like a no-brainer… but I’ve never thought of putting all 3 together!!! I’ve always wanted to try doing a journal and this is the perfect way to start! Then to go back and read your YIP (year in progress 😁) when you snuggle up… simply fantastic! Very pretty yarn you used!!! Love that it is all one brand. That’s where I fail when doing projects like these. Plus the word “mood” is derogatory in my mind. A blanket is a final completion and my mood is a constant ongoing battle with health issues. Oh, joy 😢

Happy New Year! The blanket is beautiful! I did not finish my temperature blanket for this year..... It was once a week, I kept a journal and I posted on my socials, IG and my KZbin channel. Life took over and I did not go back to it. It is shawl size, I will leave it like that

I love your channel so much! SO fresh and unique! I am 3/4 of the way finished a temperature blanket and it is definitely a challenge in discipline and loyalty! I started with granny pattern, then realized it was growing to quickly and would be unreasonably long at the end of a year, so I switched to single crochet. If I could do it again (maybe in a gazillion years), I would make a mood blanket and use your method. I think it would be faster to crochet a square daily AND I absolutely love the journaling idea! Not to mention it looks so pretty!

i absolutly love this idea i struggle with ptsd and possible autism (going through assessments) i find crochet helps calm me down and stops my head from talking in a fog would have never have throught of doing something like this but i may try it to see how it works for me thank you for sharing a fab idea

Hi I seen a few videos this a.m. and here I found out that I have been a subscriber 🙄. Oh well, LOL. Anywho you do beautiful work. I just know the basics somewhat. You are a very good teacher and I do better by watching someone and writing in my own words whats going on. I am so tired if basic stitch blankets etc....I would love to branch out and learn so much more that is out there and you definitely know how to crochet and so may pretty things. I’m so glad you posted this! I was just thinking about this concept the other day, but I’ve never seen it done before. Personally, temperature blankets don’t speak to me because my local weather is pretty predictable seasonally, with some variation. But I LOVE the idea of a mood blanket because it encourages reflection, mindfulness, and personal growth along with making a beautiful creation. I can imagine myself looking at a completed mood blanket and thinking, “whoa, I guess I had a pretty difficult/ happy/ exciting year.” Your blanket would be very telling, but in a good way. 😊

I learned a lot through mine … mainly that I get bored easily 😂 I’m kidding but that is the beauty of doing it too… discovering who you are and ways to keep it interesting for yourself. I like the idea of a mood blanket. I did a temperature blanket , but got bogged down in the summer with too many yellows and oranges. I used the mean temp. of the day , so I only got to use one red stripe for 90 degrees . I love the colors you used.

I love this idea, Roz. A few months ago, I organized my stash by color. All shades of blue in a large see-through plastic bag, all shades of green, etc. It will be easy to make a blanket from my well needed organizational task. I think the journal is a great idea. I might use it however, just to jot down daily positive things. In a few years, it will be fun to read what I wrote in my journal. May 2024 bring all of us health, happiness and peace.🌍☮💖

Really, mama , ANY yarn will do. I’d recommend you use a yarn type that you love, feels good on your fingers and on your eyes . You’re going to be with it every day so this is important. I I made mine with a weight 3 dk yarn called city tweed from knit picks . The link might be in the description box. I loved it but it made a lap blanket size (36” x 40” “ish ) so if you want it to be larger , a weight 4 might serve you better. I initially was going to use “I love this cotton yarn” from hobby lobby since it was easy to get (it’s a weight 4 worsted ) but decided on the city tweed since i’d bought it for another project and never used. Anyway, hope that helps. 💕

I would recommend that you maybe work a number scale instead of “moods” . Maybe pick 5 to 10 colors and then give each a number . How are you feeling on a scale from 1-5 or 1-10 , for example. I essentially used 16 balls of city tweed dk yarn. My blanket weighs 805 grams and each ball of city tweed dk weighs 50 grams. So 1,968 yards of yarn total. 360 squares. My blanket came out to 36x41 inches With this weight 3 yarn. Hope that helps. 👍🏻🧶

What do you do if you have more than one mood in a day

At the end of the day choose the one that stood out the most for you. Choose a tweed style yarn that has flecks in it to help show that each day is full of different ones. Use two colors to build your square if you had more than one mood that you really want to acknowledge on your blanket. If moods are hard for you then use a rating system instead . It was more of the general overall feel/mood for the day. It sounds corny, but I used a “tweed” yarn because it has all the little specks of other colors in it. For me that helped to represent the varying waves of mood in a day. I did find that by the end of a day there was definitely a scale of 1-5 where my mood fell. Also a happy accident - I ran out of yarn during a square and finished it in another color a couple of times. That would be ideal if you wanted to show two distinct moods for that day.
