I just bought this studio three set along with the mini brute 2s and I'm really excited to pair them all together. I've never had experience with the subharmonicon or minibrute2s. I am a huge fan of semi modular synthesizers. I have played around with things like Korg ms20 make noise zero Coast Behringer Neutron mother 32 and dfam having them all at the same time. I'm rebuilding my setup as this is my dream to get back into and I can't wait to get the dozen other semi modular synthesizers I would dream of having lol.

Nice video! I have the same rig, but I built it over the course of years. I bought the M32 right after it came out (2016?), then another M32 shortly after (later traded for a Make Noise 0-Coast), then the DFAM and finally the Subharmonicon. I probably liked the double M32 & DFAM rig the best, but the siren's song of wave folding sent me down the Make Noise rabbit hole. Like you, the M32 is a favorite, but this is largely due to the time I have put into it to learn most all of its tricks. The DFAM is fun and can sound huge, especially with 4-on-the-floor bass drum emulations. The Sub is good. It plays best by itself and then paired with the DFAM. However, the Sub and M32 can be challenging to keep in tune together (maybe due to a poorly executed factory calibration of my Sub). Oddly, this tuning issue subsides using my Matriarch as the master. Anyway, these are fun synths that can keep your interest for years and years.

was very excited to get it.... but returned in a month. Having 3 together sounded like "together" they more useable then by their own. It kills me you can start DFAM from first step and lotsa CV needed to drive it. If it all, as you mentioned, had just single USB to drive it from DAW. Though by now I missed it.... since they fixed the feature to transpose sequence from outside it starts making sense. Somehow from 3 I like M32 ..... but I do have Subsequent 37CV ... with VST editor to automate and such.... so.... ... I got Buchla instead.

I only have the Subharmonicon but I use it with a lot of other gear. I usually either have the envelopes super short so I can use it as percussion or maxed out for ambient stuff, but now it's taking me down the Trautonium rabbit hole. I bought it because it would be the hardest of the three to replicate with other modules or synths.

Hmmm, interesting question but a great observation, as you are correct. There are three pedals I am using and each one creates a different effect for each moog eurorack. Add a second DFAM, you can expand timbres on rhythmic sounds with it. I use the M32 clock and cv to drive a second modular/semi mono, that really thickens it up. In all it’s a really good central setup to start with for those interested in semi mod gear.

I think when you buy one of them, a reverb is a must have. Also you should be aware of, that you can do a lot of unpleasant sounds with it, especially with the dfam and the subharmonicon, because their notes are not really quantized. The special-thing about the dfam is his specific groove, when you make him a slave in your setup with the adv/clock input you will lose that, cause every step will be quantized to the clock pulse, so keep that in mind. Iam a owner and I love to jam with my mother and dfam, their amazing and push me to think outside the box😊 Anyway, keep up the good work❤
