Thank you for explaining how to skip stitches so easily and why. Now I can carry on with confidence - making my first newborn baby cardigan for my unborn Grandchild :)

Thank you so much for the simple explanation! I tried watching other videos, but it didn't make any sense until you explained it! I just started crocheting. I am making a baby cow for my soon to be nephew. I will definitely be using your videos over anyone else's.

It could be part of a decorative stitch pattern, or to create shaping? It's hard to say out of context!

So my pattern says to skip 30 stitches to make an arm hole (I’m crocheting a baby’s cardigan), but it doesn’t specify anything about making a chain. Does the same principle apply, or should I just cut the thread, tie it off and start crocheting again further on?
@mooglyblog
@mooglyblog Жыл бұрын
No, just skip without chaining - not every skip includes chains! :)

how about making some space by skipping 2row (or more) X n stitch in the middle, so there would be rectangle space in the middle of that stitches, is that possible??
@mooglyblog
@mooglyblog 7 жыл бұрын
You can, but there will be chains to get to the other side of the space - though there are patterns where you then later work around those chains, like the Butterfly stitch: www.thespruce.com/how-to-crochet-butterfly-stitch-4038620 :)

Can anyone help me please. I have a crochet pattern, and I am confused. The pattern says, row 5. 37sc, row 6. Flo 37sc row 7. Ch7, and By Jumping back (37sc) .Now row 5 and 6 I understand, but what does row 7 mean 🤔 if anyone can help I would be so grateful 🙏

Hi Lynwen! That is indeed very confusing - I've never seen that before, I wonder if there was a google translation error or something. If it is a free pattern available on the web, please email me the link and I'll see if I can figure it out from context. tamarakelly@mooglyblog.com :)

What does it mean when the pattern calls for skip next 2 (hdc2tog)?
@mooglyblog
@mooglyblog Жыл бұрын
It's hard to say for sure without more context, but is it possible it's a decrease worked with 2 sts skipped between the sts the decrease is worked in? Like, between the "legs" of the hdc2tog?
@jayfyre1210
@jayfyre1210 Жыл бұрын
@@mooglyblog the pattern for row two reads like this. Ch 2. hdc2tog *( ch 1. Skip next hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc) 4 times. Ch 1. Skip next hdc. ( 1 hdc. Ch 2. 1 hdc.) in next ch-2 sp** (ch 1. Skip next hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc) 5 times. Skip next 2 (hdc2tog). 1 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * 6 times more then from * to ** once. (ch 1. Skip next hdc. 1hdc in next hdc) 4 times. Ch 1. Skip next hdc. Hdc2tog. Turn.

@@jayfyre1210 That is super helpful, thanks! That... is indeed quite strange though! I'm not sure why the parentheses are there around the hdc2tog. I think the only way I can read it is "skip the next 2 sts, hdctog in next 2 sts..." But I would write to the designer if you can, that is indeed confusing.

If you have [sk] 16 we have to skip 16 stitches ?
@mooglyblog
@mooglyblog 8 ай бұрын
That's an unusual way of writing it so I can't say with 100% certainty, but that would be my best guess!

@@mooglyblog ah sorry. Let me rephrase it correctly 🤓🙏🏻 sc 16, ch 12, sk 16, sc 16 (32) (48) My problem here is... do I have to connect the chain in the 17th stitch on the ring ? But... How to work the circle then if there is a difference in height ? This is not beautiful. I think I didn't get it 😭
@mooglyblog
@mooglyblog 8 ай бұрын
@@Freeasabirdnow Thank you, having a bit more info does help! Yes, it looks like you chain 12 and then skip 16 stitches, and then sc in the next 16 stitches (starting in the 17th from the last stitch). I would guess this is to create a handle opening, or something like that? Perhaps a lace pattern?

@@mooglyblog thank you 🌹 No, it's for a plush, forming a head. I don't know why this pattern. I have to make it twice then just crochet around but as it is my very first project, I'm unfamiliar with the crochet. When formed, it forms two straps crossing the "bowl" head. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

what to do when the pattern tells me to " skip the 28 outermost st of the left and on the right side" like to "skip" 28 from the very beginning of the row and then from the and and continue only working with the ones in the middle, not coming back to those
@mooglyblog
@mooglyblog 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rikka! It sounds like you'll want to rejoin your yarn to the 29th st of the previous row with a slip stitch, and then work whatever the stitch pattern is across until there are 28 sts left in the previous row. Then just turn and chain for the next row as if those last 28 sts didn't exist. Does that help?

That's not a crochet term I've heard before, but it could be a typo! I'm afraid I would need to see the pattern for more context to be able to properly guess.
