It takes a lot of training and team chemistry to play like that, it's a lot about the positioning and movement of the players - therefore it is extremely hard to defend. Nowadays there are a lot of succesful teams who play pressing as there defensive system, which means they chase the ball all over the pitch and try to get the opponents to make mistakes in the build up and then counter attack quickly. One of the best Coaches for that is the german Jurgen Klopp, Coach of Liverpool

@austinroy5146
@austinroy5146 2 жыл бұрын
@@SanxBile the high press has existed since the 80's, it just evolves differently. The high pressing when this Barca team were in their prime wasn't the same, it started to evolve to what it is now because of Klopp and Pep influencing each other and learning from each other. When Klopp's Dortmund first emerged they were just blowing away teams with far better players because of the insane energy and stamina coupled with very quick counters. Nowadays, Pep's City team press higher and are also much quicker and more direct, because even with unlimited funds Pep couldn't recreate the same system in this day and age, players are much more fit and more willing to chase and force errors. Klopp's Liverpool team also relies on possession and wingbacks to create a lot more than his Dortmund team used to, both things that Pep made a lot more common with his Barca team. Bayern were probably one of the best pressing teams back then under Jupp Heynckes, but even that doesn't compare to high pressing teams today, the Bayern team that won the 2020 CL for example were levels above in that regard.

Mourinho with his very disciplined defense and extremely organized and quick counter attacks had some results against this, especially in knockout competitions. But best answer to this is probably high pressing, very physical way of play. Defending with all 10 players in the field, getting stuck in, challenging for every ball, making every pass as hard as possible and challenging for every first touch making that quick passes as hard as possible, closing down every opportunity for progressive passing. I would say that tiki taka is probably the best tactic for wining the league but it didn't have the same level of results in tournaments, namely the Champions League. There is also another important thing, you need certain type of players for this kind of tactics, players with great passing, vision, decision making, first touch, great technical ability etc...

Tiki Taka basically means possession play with short passing and non stop movement in a narrow formation. The big key for this style is regaining possession as soon as possible. Guardiola had the 6 second rule at Barca, where they players were instructed to aggressively press on the ball as a team as soon as they lost it. This meant that for Barca under Guardiola having 70% ball possession was the norm and some matches higher.

Tiki taka was mostly used by Barcelona and Spanish national team in early 2010's. It provided some of the best looking football, and that's why Barcelona became so famous. But then their style got exposed at 2013 with a 0x7 loss on aggregate to Bayern... after that season, Guardiola (the coach) left, then the midfielders Iniesta and Xavi retired/left Barcelona and this style has disappeared a little bit. A lot of coaches try to use it again, but it simply doesn't work that well anymore... We are at the high pressing era now.

You were right that it tries to set up a 1 on 1 with the goalie. That's pretty much the best you can do in terms of quality shots. Football has a rule called "offside" where the player receiving the pass has to be behind the last defender when the pass is fired. This essentially means that the only way to get an open shot at goal is to either dribble past the defender yourself or the receiving player has to outrun the defender to get to the ball ahead

If y'all wondering why it's called tiki taka... It's because of another football legend called Johan Cruyf, he was a Dutch footballer from Amsterdam. After taking The Netherlands by storm in the late 70s early 80s. He made it over to Barcelona and brought tiki taka with him. This man is the reason Barcelona is the big club you know today. To answer the question, tiki taka is basically just a reference to a clock. In English you'd say that a clock "tik tok's", in Dutch it's "tik tak". You don't wanna have the ball with you for more than a second. So you just tik tak, tik tak, tiki taka, tiki taka all the way to your opponents goal.

When attacking you want to use as much of the pitch as possible to create gaps etc. When defending you want to be as compact as possible as a unit is harder to break down. To stop or slow down the Tika-Taka passing is to not chase. Sit back. Let them pass around freely and keep them on from if you. Don’t commit to a tackle, keep your defensive shape and when they decide to move forward let them and they start that passing again then maintain shape and discipline. Eventually they have to go forward and be more direct. They can’t sit there passing around doing nothing if you ain’t going after it. When they go forward more directly pounce with a tackle or a press to force them to take a bad shot or make a bad pass

Another important aspect of tiki taka is the amount of touches each player gets on the ball. It’s not only a give and go, but if you watch most of the players each player only touches the ball once or twice. One touch, they pass the ball on to the next guy right away. Two touch, they receive the ball with their first touch and they pass with the second touch. So it’s a mix of give and go with a 1,2 touch. That keeps the defense guessing if the player receiving the ball will stop it or pass it right away

If played perfectly for 90+ minutes It's virtually unstoppable. The only way to play against this style is to either sit back or press..The only problem with that is for 90+ you can't physically press, It's impossible for every player to have that amount of fitness. Neither can you sit back and defend for 90+ minutes because the style of Tiki-Taka will break down the defense with ease at one significant period of the match. The strategy was first used by Johan Cruyff from 1988-1996 at Barcelona, then Pep Guardiola implemented his own style of it when he came in to manage at 2008 going on to win 14 titles with this style of play, the main idea behind this is to dominate the play so you dominate your opponent and starve them out of the ball. Often they would finish games with at least 85% possession.

5:25 good you said that about movement off the ball. In football more than other sports, being good off the ball is probably at the same level of importance as on the ball if not more important, especially defensively when teams press they have to n ow even to press and how to press as a team, communication with others is key. And even going forward, if the attacking players can’t move well off of the ball it’s really gonna hold the team back. Man City is a brilliant example, they are brilliant on the ball, best in the world at it, it’s difficult to win the ball off them, but because they’re so good off the ball too, once they lose it they win it back very quickly a lot of the time, not letting the other team have the ball for too long really helps them to be as dominant as they are.

Nice video again. Its cool that you watch different kinda videoes of football just to learn more about the game! :D Seems like ur understanding alot! i Think some teams or coaches have been in some way succesfull countering the "Tiki-Taka" style from Barcelona. Mourinho has been somewhat good with his defensive approach. Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp with his high pressure, to close all close passes, and quick counter attack also won 4-0 against Barca in Champions league some years ago. I think the high pressure and mixture with more direct play has become the more modern counter right now. You also gotta know. Pep Guardiola (The bald coach from Barcelona) now coaches Man City, and has made his playstyle from Barcelona a part of that team now, with a never or different approach. :) Not an expert, but my take.

Passing in general is done off the cuff You dont really work on exact plays when in training But you know where your teamates are and could be because in your head you know where every position on the field is and who occupies the position Also,as a player you need to keep your head on a swivel constantly and take mental pictures to know where your teamates and opposition are so you can make decisions in milliseconds to advance the play and not get the ball taken off you So much head swivelling you might get dizzy and all the best players do this if you were to watch a game...constantly looking

Ight, the way I see it, put pressure on there mid field, with the mid fielders that's in place, the strikers should be guarded on a 1-1 situation. usually theres 2-3 strikers, and almost always 4 defenders, so theres enough for each defender to take guard of, the one that's left should help out with the midfield but never cross the half field line. Also, the end game almost always is the center cross, so when they rush with the ball, make sure to have 3 guys there b4 the ball gets to the goalie box. that's just one of the things I could at least think of😂

Yallll the best teacher for formation and positions is FIFA career mode 😂 the team plays as 1 formation and this will influence how attacking or defensive your team is. Pep Guardiola is the best attacking/possession manager of all time, Jose Mourinho is the best Defensive/Counter attacking manager of all time. Both won champions leagues, both won leagues.

It is simply....making space for your teammates by passing the ball to one player, the opposition is instinctly drawn to the ball which opens up space for your teammate to run into.

You have a basic team formation, common ones are 4-3-3 or 4-5-1. These numbers are our 10 outfield players, not including the goalie. Now you have plays just like in American football, usually these are less common in open play and are more common from set pieces, like free kicks and corners. Now the formations have offensive and defensive tactics set up based on a number of things, all teams will play differently based on their coaches teachings and philosophies. It gets very complex and complicated but the main thing to remember is every team has a base formation they play with, and a style to compliment that formation, whether it be a tiki taka style, or counter attacking style, there are many different ways of playing, some that won't have even been invented yet. I know it's alot to take in, but keep asking your questions and doing your thing, you guys will have it in no time. Best way to learn the game is to watch it, playing fifa will also help you alot when it comes to understanding the teams, players, positions, formation etc.

Barcelona played the most tiki taka and for the most part the entire team or 95% of the team developed from the academy so the style of play was instilled in them. Would we ever see a team like this? I don’t know but it’s definitely interesting to watch. As a fan I knew it wouldn’t last forever but watching them play this pattern live was interesting and magical. Viva Barcelona 🙂

The question is not how you stop it, stopping it is nearly impossible for nearly all other teams. The question is how you do it, it takes a super skilled set of players with world class level in certain specific skills (like movement on and off the ball, decision-making, first touch) and some very good chemistry between players. Part of Barça's success came from having so many awesome players playing together for so many years. And they also had Messi, who besides the obvious also is particularly suited for this type of play (in the same way like Ronaldo is lethal in teams with strong counter-attacking tactics).

The best ways to counter Tiki Taka (or at least make it difficult) is by either: 1. Counter pressing. Hit them before they start their moves. Press high on the defensive transition as they will often look to play from the back. Effective but not easy to be done effectively. You need your team to act as a unit. Your players will need a lot of stamina. And more importantly the success will be in the details. Set your objectives first (some teams press to actually get the ball high while others might press to force long balls). Set your triggers and traps. Isolate one or both fullbacks. I don't want to go further into details. Long story short... this is not easy. 2. A more defensive approach is a compact low block of a 4141 (other versions of the 451 or even 541 could work depending on the situation and other factors such as match ups between the players). The objective here is to make space as limited as you can possibly make it. You will need a very intelligent CDM that can plug the gaps in the back line effectively and quickly... Otherwise maybe a 541 is better for you. In a 541 you need your wingers to be comfortable plugging into the midfield.

Tiki Taka (this term comes from the expression of keeping the ball rolling in 1-touch movements. Player 1 passes the ball to player 2 (tiki) and player 2 passes the ball to player 3. All in 3 touches instead of controlling the balls first (one touch) and then passing the ball (two touches).) is based on the concept of "Total Football". Johan Cruyff - a legendary dutch player and manager - played for both Ajax (learned this style of play here by the legendary coach Rinus Michels) and FC Barcelona, has implemented this style of play at Barcelona. Ajax have dominated europe in the 70's by playing this way with the Total Football playstyle. A playstyle in which (retaining) ball possession is the most important thing and all players on the team have to be comfortable and gifted on the ball (typically only midfielders and attackers were) in a time were physique and height was the most important and dominant thing in the sport. Watch "Johan Cruyff's Tactics Explained" from the channel "Football made simple" for a short and nice video on this.

Like most team sports, everyone has 1-3 positions that they need to play during a game. Defensively, in football you need you need to mark the zone that your position calls for. But, you also need to mark a specific person, based on where the ball is. Communication between players and coaching allow for successful and cohesive defending to thrive. This is why it's the best sport! You can have set zones, set plays, clear player roles, but in the end, the game is free-flowing and player communication/understanding of your teammates' movements is the key!

Jose Mourinho who was seen as the professor of defensive football tried to stop tiki taka with defensive counter attack football. He was successful to a point, especially in the 2009-2010 champions league semi final when he coached Inter Milan against Barcelona but that didn't last long. I would say the best way to stop tiki taka is by using geggenpressing (german for counter-pressing as this philosophy originated from there) Check out how Jurgen Klopp who is a master of geggenpressing usually plays when he plays against Guardiola who is a tiki taka master, watch a few Liverpool vs Man City games and you will see

Defeating the Tiki-Taka required a lot of positional discipline. Teams playing tiki-taka usually had very high possession, so defending teams had to be comfortable without the ball and defending for long periods. Teams playing tiki-taka also played with a high defensive line to compress the space in midfield and allow shorter passes. This means that they might be vulnerable to very quick counter attacks. A good example of this was Mourinho's Inter Milan team in 2010. They were able to soak up pressure and counter attack very quickly, beating Barcelona in the semifinals and Bayern in the finals of the Champions League.

QnA 4:05 Barcelona's Tiki-Taka was first stopped by Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan in the UCL semi-finals using the "park the bus" formation (5D - 4M - 1ST / Defensive Mentality - Zone Defense / Counter attack). Later, other teams "parked the bus" against FC Barcelona and succeeded like Athletico Madrid. Tiki-Taka is a very difficult tactic. Actually, few teams can use it because it requires a lot of cohesion and skills (passing, positioning, vista). Currently, Manchester City and Bayern FC (less and less) are the only top teams that can often use it. 11:15 Tiki-Taka comes from Johan Cruyff's Total Football philosophy of playing attacking, beautiful and entertaining football. "Don't care about game score, just play". Pep Guardiola was a FC Barcelona player during the Johan Cruyff era, it was there that he acquired the Total Football philosophy and mastered the Tiki-Taka. Other style of play: Catenaccio, Gegenpress, Kick and rush, Flo pass.

You can only play this way if you have quality players. It may look easy but it takes a lot of skill and mental strength to remain calm and make precise passes with out making mistakes while the opposite team applies pressure on a profesional level.

CMIIW guys. But I think I heard that tiki taka came from tik tak. Which mean one-two touches and pass. It seems like the sounds of clock mechanism tick tock. So in my perspective, it could be define moving the ball simultaneously like the sequence of the clock (tick-tock) which never stop

TIKI TAKA was a philosophy invented by a Dutch & Barcelona coach called JOHAN CRUYFF but that time it was called TOTAL FOOTBALL...the philosophy was simple... basically the whole team attacks together and defends together no matter your position so you gotta be ready to play any position This style of play was later improved by PEP GUARDIOLA as Barcelona coach who was also CRUYFF'S student at Barca

Top tier "tiki taka" or triangle passing when I was playing is basically unstoppable... if you get it right. But getting it right is the hard part, it requires an insane amount of team work and footballing intelligence to actually get it to work. Players like Messi and Iniesta make it look far easier than most people can ever realise just from looking at it. Flawless talent, intelligence and teamwork are the main aspects that make the triangle of passes/tiki taka work. Edit: Also I forgot but speed is also crucial to this playing style, the one touch passing and progression of the ball up the field renders even the best defenders useless, this is because the ball progresses towards goal too quickly, it is impossible to keep up with the one touch passing basically.

In soccer there’s something called offsides. So pretty much your forward can’t be behind the last defender. So when you see them make a pass and it’s 1/1 you’ll notice the forward player ALWAYS starts at or behind the line of the last defender, if not the play is stopped and it’s a free kick for the opposite team. That’s made so no team can just keep 1 player next to the goalie and just wait for the ball to get to him.

The only way to play a short pass strong team (tikataka) is if you have aggressive and/or pressing strong players, i.e. either they get so much pressure from pressing that they lose the ball ,such as ngolo Kante, for me the best ball-winning midfielder in the world, he is aggressive in tackling but also fair and never lets upor
