@@MrJoeshipley bro of course that’s not acceptable to do, but I have to say everyone make mistakes and done something wrong in their life. Honestly I’m just speaking for the young lads in Liverpool from that era because many of them looked up to him like a father. Maybe they didn’t have fathers themselves. But I know a lot of lads from Liverpool even call him ‘god’ lol. But yeah wouldn’t you agree Gerard is inspiring, his footballing career and leadership was outstanding and now he’s leading a huge club in England Aston Villa and seems to be doing great. Maybe he’ll manage Liverpool in a few years.. Me personally, I’m an arsenal fan and Gerard isn’t my role model, but I can see exactly why he’s had such a big effect on so many young lads lives in Liverpool he’s their hero

Even as a non Liverpool fan, the respect I have for this man is unrivalled. He was without a doubt the ultimate player, he could do everything and on top of that he was a one club man, he truly loved his club and his country and it showed in his performances. When playing for England, he had to fit into a midfield which contained the likes of Scholes, Lampard and Beckham to name but a few and as none of them could perform defensively it was left to Gerrard which unfortunately meant that England never got the best of him despite some amazing performances. Had this guy been allowed to play his own game for England as he did for Liverpool then England would have stood a chance of actually winning something.

@@5timesbaby2005 England had a habit of wasting talent though the early 00's team was full of world class talent and won nothing, did not even get close, and England also managed to only give Le Tissier 8 caps, which in of itself is a crime, I cannot believe they did not once build a team around him and just give it a shot, They managed to do the same with wasting John Barnes, who played as a wing Forward for Liverpool but was played as almost a wing back for England, and people wondered why they did not get the same player for country they saw for club, in multiple instances some of the names in the late 90's/00's Owen, Beckham, Fowler, Rooney, Le Tissier, Scholes, McManaman (who they just ignored the moment he went to Real??? ) Shearer, Sherringham, Joe Cole, Lampard, Wright, Andy Cole as well as many others.....and we managed to win F*ck all, most of these guys won CL's/Uefa Cups, and if not that Leagues, with the exception of Le Tissier but he was at Southampton , but his talent was undeniable England have had a backwards way of doing International Football for a very long time. I have no doubt Spain, France or Germany could have won plenty of matches and a trophy or 2 with these players

The pace of the PL is frantic in comparison to the more laid back Serie A, it is therefore not too far fetched to claim that Gerrard made all those fantastic passes under much more pressure compared to Pirlo, who had a second more to look around and make the pass, and this applies also if we compare him with Xavi.

I wouldn’t say he is the GOAT of midfielders, because there are those who can play better than him in each position and roles. And Gerrard isn’t the first midfielder capable of playing multi roles and positions on world class level. But what sets him apart, was his important goals. Gerrard played against the biggest generation talent football have ever seen, and he kept Liverpool alive against the biggest beast in all competition. Every time another world class player is paired with him, they challenged for trophies. And Gerrard’s loyalty to accept less pay than he deserved by staying loyal to a club, no matter what, makes him a set in stone legendary even to managers.

Gerrard was one of Liverpools best ever players. He was what is known as a box to box midfielder. It is extremely rare to fine someone that can be a box to box specialist. This means that even though his position was central attacking midfield (CAM) he was just as good at defending and would often cover both sides of the field, taking on attacking and defensive responsibilities and due to his pin point long passes made for some amazing counter attacks as well as long range goals. He was also made Liverpool captain at a young age and kept the captaincy until he left the club at 33

This video was great! Very entertaining reaction. Stevie G was legit. If you want to see passing range check out Paul scholes or Xabi Alonso.

well now that youve watched this, you are obligated by the football world to react to frank lampard and paul scholes. theres a long standing, and never ending, argument about who out of these three is the best midfielder in premier league history. although the argument doesnt end with them, they are just widely known as the top 3. yaya toure is another legendary midfielder that you should check out. also, if you havent already, ngolo kante is an absolute beast in midfield, plays for chelsea now. btw if you do watch frank lampard, you should know that hes the only midfielder in the top 10 most goals scored in premier league history.

IMO… 1.Paul scholes 2.stevie Gerrard 3.frank lampard I know lampard got more goals but both Gerrard and lanpard based their game off scholes and Gerrard had legs and was better defensively than lampard.

Depends on the specific question you are asking. Best overall midfielder. 1. Gerrard 2. Lampard 3. Scholes Best attacking mid 1. Scholes 2. Gerrard 3. Lampard Best defensive mid 1. Gerrard 2. Lampard 3. Scholes Overall Gerrard is far superior as it's a team game. Both Lampard and Scholes played in the top clubs surrounded by the best players. Gerrard was on his own with one or two top players at most around him.

Without a doubt. my all time favorite player. Just a shame that the years he was in Liverpool they had one of their worst periods, and without him they would have been a lot worse. The complete midfielder. Such a shame that he didn't get to be a part of the current Liverpool team.

I think getting a true understanding of the positions will help you both a ton to understand the game and videos you react to. It gives so much context to what their general role and responsibilities are, which is crucial context to what you are watching and how their talents are played in a real game. i.e. you shouldn't expect Gerrard to be a speedy winger with flair (Neymar), but he does break-up opposing play, connect the defense to offense, passes and generally just controls the tempo of the game

Complete midfielder, one of the best complete midfielders ever to play the game. If Liverpool could of got the squad right in his era, he deserved to win things as a player. Chelsea and Man U teams were just too good back then

Didn't matter what team we played if the ball fell to Gerrard outside the box everyone was on the edge of their seats. Because he put them away 9 out of 10 times.

if you want to watch another all time english midfielder watch paul scholes. That guy was incredibly unique. The other great english midfielder of the premier league era was lampard. Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard are legends of the game, you could compare the rivalry between those two to the bird/magic rivalry in the 80ies
