Sherri Martel is the one who deserves the accolades in my book. She picked up the lane after Moolah and worked just as hard as the boys when it came to promos,investment in her character and in-ring ability. Sherri went from Wrestler to valet to overall worker,she helped get big names over when they weren’t. Sherri was upfront with her “demons” also and drug use is the worst I’ve heard but in this business who could blame her. Sherri Martel Battle Royal should exist

@@kingwithoutacrown6434 Easy for us to sit in judgement 70-80 years removed from the times. It's also easy for us not to realize that until WWF's bra-and-panties, there was no women's division with more than a couple of women on the rooster and not until TNA, a women's division was more than bra-and-panties. Only way for a woman to get into wrestling was to have have sex with the women's promoter and maybe the territories promoter. Pro-wrestling has always been a nasty, mafia-styled business, from the Golddust Trio up. You think that mark is a term of endearment? It's a term the business used to keep getting money off of a person, whether the carny version of pro-wrestling to the mugging of men, the promoter's was in charge and greed was the game. People can blame Moolah and Mae all day long, but even today look at the amount of promoters that screw the talent over a night's pay or even like the WWE does today for house shows, the talent pays for their own cars, hotel rooms etc, the talent always have had to pay.

She was horrible human being, but let's not be hypocrites. WWE is not beacon of morality out there. Yes, Warrior had certain issues. However, he was a better person than Hart. Hart slept with every woman in a skirt and then tried to act all holier than thou about it because he didn't do drugs. He repeated this tired old line over and over in his book. Warrior OTOH was well known to be a complete gentleman to his wife and family.
@dantheman81036 жыл бұрын
I am not defending warrior but for all the horrible things he said he never prostituted people, had teen girls do borderline porn for horny men, milked them out of money so they were in debt and basically his slaved, and allegedly stood by and watched someone rape a girl. Warrior was not a good guy but what he did and what Moolah did are two different things, one is definitely worse than the other. Should they have a Warrior award? Probably not. Although the sad truth is old school wrestlers as a whole were not good people. Most of the wrestlers from that era would have been in jail had they not found wrestling, the environment was not really much for "wholesome" people. They all have skeletons. The difference is some skeletons are bigger than others and while not all of what Moolah is accues of can be proven, she is accused of some truly off the chain horrible things that go beyond saying homophobic slurs.
@dantheman81036 жыл бұрын
Given Moolah has been accused of watching her husband rape a girl who was in a position where she couldn't really stand up for herself, I would say it is debatable he is worse. He also didn't devise a system from people who trusted him that put them in so much debt they were basically his slaves, the prostitute them out. Warrior was not a great guy by any stretch, but if the stories of Moolah are true she took it to a whole level he never did. (unless I missed something about Warrior, which is possible)

Hardbody Harrison was an insane jobber guy in WCW with crazy ideas for angles like this:He wanted to start a feud with Sting and his character would be named STANG and they would be fighting for the magic diamond crystal that gave DDP power to do his finisher,and he would steal the crystal and keep it in a piranha filled fish tank and he would fly them over the airspaces where Piranhas were allowed,because according to him there are states that don't allow Piranhas to fly.. This was a real angle that he pitched to DDP...Chris Jericho and Konnan confirmed this. In real life he was sentenced to prison for life for keeping 8 or 9 sex slaves against their will and prostitution of those same women he kept as sex slaves in the guise of training them to wrestle,against their will of course.

I'm surprised you didn't elaborate more on the sabotage of the Glamore Girls/Jumping Bomb Angels. Sometime after the Angels beat the Girls for the tag belts at the Royal Rumble, there was plans to have a blow-off match at Wrestlemania IV. At some point while on a tour of Japan, Moolah had mis-informed Martin & Kai (who knew of the future blow-off match) that management want to the Girls to regain the belts. The Girls tried to get confirmation of this change, but got no response. So they regain the titles, returned to the US and Management was p*ssed. The plans were scrapped and the women's tag team titles were effectively killed off.

@Christina-fw9dz What I don't understand about that situation is that by that point in time, Moolah had long lost the Women's title (to Sheri Martel in Summer of '87) and she wasn't even an active onscreen character anymore, especially at the start of 1988. I don't get her motivation to sabotage the Women's Tag Team division or how she even has any say in the overall booking in the company. Vince may have his idiocy when it comes Women's wrestling, but Moolah was a detriment to it.

One too many allegations to make this an isolated incident. A part of me thinks that none of this is true, but way too many noses are being pinched. Something smells fishy about it all.

Well some might not be but the taking money from the wrestlers and charging them out the butt so they would be in debt and she would have power. Almost every woman who was trained by her spanning the course of decades (at least the ones who lived long enough for shoot interviews to be a thing) have told that same story. The idea they are all lying is way more far fetched then it being true. Same with the exploiting, maybe some are saying it to discredit her because they hate her, but it was told way too many times by women over too long of a time period for me to completely dismiss.
@Irgendeinervonunten6 жыл бұрын
you only need to see her booking. At the time when moolah booked lady wrestling it was shit and only the opening for the men wrestling. In japan a pure lady promotion could sell out the tokyo dome with 60.000 people. I coulndt care less about allegation but she was the reason why women wrestling was 30 years behind and sucked big time over three decades

What the hell does Trump have to do with this discussion? The fact you are clearly obsessed with him...as well as politics...on a wrestling vlog is pathetic. I assume you are from the UK based on your response with a downward economy and a govt that locks people up for making jokes. Sounds like you guys elected someone pathetic. The US economy is booming. And you are clearly a moron if you are going to compare Moolah to Trump. Do you really think Moolah was one of the billionaires? And you are so naive. "All of them should be 6 feet under." You know what would happen then? You'd get another crop of wealthy and elite that run things. Unless of course you are a Communist, and want everyone to be poor because that is what it is like in Communist and former Communist countries. I have been to many so don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about either. Bitch all you want about Trump but the UK and Europe got a fuck of a lot more problems. And how ignorant are you? I am from Asia. You just assumed I am from the USA and voted for Trump, which I have the right to do by the way. You make assumptions about people and then with your post-modernist bullshit lump everyone together. You would be the first one crying about not condemning all Muslims as Islamic terrorists blow something up in Europe each week yet you lump all Americans together because of Trump. Pathetic indeed. Run along now little one. It is beyond your bed time.

I will say this. I somewhat recently watched a recording of a wrestling broadcast from the 80s and I must say that my eyes were opened. I watched a few matches of lumbering brutes moving around like roided up overstuffed pack animals. It was a bit boring, but, tossed into the mix was a match between 2 women and I was pleasantly surprised at how it was more fast paced and entertaining than the guys. Definitely underrated. Then again, I don't think I knew that the WWF had women wrestlers back then.

It's like dropping Andre's name from the battle royal and renaming it The Jimmy Snuka Memorial Battle Royal.
@MGSBigBoss776 жыл бұрын
Thats kinda low man, Jimmy Snuka's controversial history outside the ring wasn't known back then for many years to fans mind you. Only within the past decade has his name been tarnished with the murder allegations against his girlfriend in 1983. Although looking back it explains exactly why Vince never put a belt on Jimmy Snuka while he was in the WWF. Snuka was the first ECW Champion, he won stuff outside the WWF/WWE and so on. And yes i get your main points, but Snuka even now isn't treated with the same level of disdain, somebody like Chris Benoit clearly is. Many still talk about the Superfly and his matches. Although yeah i think enough information has come about that people's out there certainly wouldn't take to the Andre Memorial Battle Royal being renamed; The Jimmy Snuka Memorial Battle Royal.

I spoke with Ms Ellison several times as I was about to train at her wrestling school. On the last time I spoke with her she informed me the price of the school was about to increase by $500 which was a lot in the early/mid 1980’s. Ultimately I decided against it because here were no cruiser weights in the US during that era who were ever successful. Had I gone I would’ve been there about the same time as The Patriot.
