As others have mentioned, the glass in the shoes is for self-punishment, penance, devotion, humility, etc. Any or all of those combined. Also Steven is both the avatar of Khonshu AND also has D.I.D.

Shout out to momma Smols for instantly saying she would watch the 2nd episode. She didn't even agree to the 2nd episode of Hawkeye that quick (& that had a Christmas theme). I'm kinda hoping Marvel stays away from the rich playboy persona. He's not Batman & I'm sure hardcore fans of MK are sick of that simple comparison. Absolutely loved the first episode. Oscar Isaac is that dude. Hell of an actor.

Ah! At last reacters who know about DID. Good! Just to say though, the host (in this case Mark Scepter) is also an alter. The host is usually the one who identify with the official (usually also legal) way the body is called. But not always. It's not rare that a system change host. Saw a host go into dormancy for many years sometimes. There's also co-hosting, when there's many host. In the case of Mark Scepter and Steven Grant, I think they are co-host, since Steven has a job and Mark seems to go to that same job under Steven's name (I think, maybe he goes with an alias, hence the name confusion). Since none of them are trauma holders, I suspect we'll see more alters.

The "werewolf" was actually a jackal. In Egyptian mythology, jackals are associated with Anubis, the God of death and the underworld.

Some more info about Ammit that makes the story they're telling here even cooler: In the comics, Ammit (or "Amut" depending how you want to spell it) is like a sphinx guardian of the afterlife. But they don't seem to be going that route with her here. Instead, I think they're going with the actual Egyptian mythology. In ancient Egyptian religion, when a person dies, their heart is weighed by Anubis against a feather from the goddess of truth. If they are deemed worthy, they move on to the afterlife; if not, their heart is fed to Ammit, a crocodile-headed goddess also called "devourer of the dead". So in this version, it sounds like they're going with the idea that Ammit is tired of waiting for Anubis to throw her scraps of the dead, and instead has taken up the scales herself and is judging people while they're still alive. That way she gets to feed on them sooner and more often; and Arthur is her willing avatar because he believes that feeding is preventing future human evils. I think it's a really cool concept, especially since if Khonshu can have a human avatar, why shouldn't the other gods be able to as well? I just wonder if we'll ever see how Anubis reacts to having his job stolen by his underling... will we get a full War of the Gods happening with their human avatars in the middle of it all? Will we see that Anubis has an avatar of his own? Are we *already* seeing the beginning of a god war, with the scarab heist being a bit of divine espionage? So many questions, and only 5 more episodes to find the answers 😁

@@joobus-stoobus-magoobus isn’t the afterlife technically already canon? In Black Panther, he reunites with past kings. To some extent, we have a confirmation of there being an afterlife. Likely it is different depending on the culture or religion, but afterlife is canon

The first episode was amazing and suspenseful! I'm terribly intrigued to know what's going to happen next and I want to see in the second episode everything that happened in the first episode just from Mark's point of view it would be interesting. And this is also a good series that the mother will watch because she does not know the MCU so well and it looks like a series that does not have to know all the details even though we know that Moon Knight will appear in future movies

This may be the best first episode of the Disney+ shows. It wasn't surprising that Oscar Isaac was good but he was top tier in this. I'm wondering if we are the only ones seeing the Moon Knight character. Arthur Harrow recognized him as a mercenary which he wouldn't know if his face was covered. Also in the bathroom, the reflections don't show the costume transformation. Great reaction by the entire crew and the show has the Mama Smols seal of approval despite the car chase hate ... 😆 ... Personally, I found the "missed by stormtroopers" comment hilarious.

The amazing writing moment with this is that it actually asks a befuddling question and answers it by the end of the episode. A sharp viewer, even not knowing the comic realizes this is D.I.D. An even sharper one realizes that the mother only being an answering machine means she's not real...and Steven isn't the original personality. So naturally you start asking yourself WHY such a hapless innocent and bumbler would be created as an Alter. Fully expecting that to be a season long mystery, they answer by episode end. He exists to pass that Purity Test. It's a real mind-screw.

Just some info from someone with DID 💜 The different personalities are referred to as Alters (alternate identity states). Also Steve is just as real as Marc, he just doesn't identify with the bodies name. It was really great watching you all react and to see your kid know so much about DID ☺💜

Haha! TV has a 3.5mm jack. Long cord with a 5 port splitter attached...very technical set up!! It gets real fun when someone pulls the cord their direction and everyone is like, "hey! hey!" lol.

Dissociative Identity Disorder or D.I.D. It is when a person, most likely a kid goes through repeated trauma and the mind can't handle it anymore so the brain creates an alter to protect itself from harm. and that alter is know as a protector. But, the alters do have real memories and they are also real people. This was a good way of showing how involuntary alter changes are. For what I know about DiD, you can really lose days even when one of you alters decides to front. Seems Steven is a fairly new-ish alter so whatever happened to Marc to make Steven take over for so long must’ve pretty large trauma (which alters are born/created which is through Massive trauma). I appreciate the fact they (the host and alters) Haven’t made an “Evil” alter yet. Again DiD is about managing trauma not causing it. Yes, some alters (known as Protecters) can be rougher on the outside ( aka in front while the host is in the mind). But, never straight-up causing problems on purpose only to protect the host and the other alters. And Marc is the host as for Steven he is the one who is the most out aka in front so he can have some social life.

What a performance by Oscar Isaac. He nailed this part. I’m happy that mama smalls is back watching with the fam. This channel is my top 5 reactions. I feel like we’re all in the same room watching and reacting with the Smol’s family. Warewolf by night is the beast in the end. I’m heading there will be a Halloween special later on this year so watch out for that. Little history; Moon Knight first appearance was in a “Warewolf by night” coming book back in the early days. I believe a Oscar Isaac is marvels secret weapon. Isaac did not sign a multi picture deal tho which I read so let’s hope he comes back and eventually shows up in the movies. Seriously, even though it's not anime in a traditional sense that's not made by Japanese animators or made in Japan with that specific animation style like One Piece or Dragonball, ATLA is still technically an anime. The word " anime " is just a Japanese word for "animation" afterall. Avatar The Last Airbender can also be called a cartoon. Japanese will call any foreign cartoons "anime" .
