Best thing about the show is that Steven is the fulfillment of all the deficiencies Marc possesses as a person: He has a weak relation with his mother so his other identity tries to fulfill that by clinging on to her and calling her here and now, He must not have been able to provide full attention to his wife's interests which his alter ego tries to fulfill by being interested in her field of interests. Really goes to show the character depth on how Marc's weak points are fulfilled by Steven's identity as his strengths and vice versa.

that's what DID actually does in real life, the host's (in this case Marc) brain will split off and create an alter (Steven) after massive trauma. This new alter will be formed with qualities that the brain perceive the person needs to be able to heal. So it is understandable if Steven was 'born' out of Marc's trauma from whatever happened in Egypt.

Yes, Marc is the primary. Granted the showrunners _could_ pull some shit like they put Marcs *soul* in Steven's body but with the lines they've dropped I don't think they'll go that route. Granted Mr. Knight (the dapper suit) is another "personality" in the books and they just kind of did it here where it's just Steven manifesting a suit, so it's hard to really tell what they've in store.

It's also obvious because Steven's life is pretty short. His memories and stuff are very recent which makes sense because he was "born" after Marc went through some severe trauma (aka almost or even dying because Khonshu said he was just a corpse) that wasn't too long ago. Unless of course the show goes with smth else but that would explain why Steven tries to stay away from every dangerous situation.

Jake Lockley, the third personality was already introduced. He was the one who asked the girl out and replaced the goldfish. In the comics Jake Lockley is a street level character who's a taxi driver. It would make sense that he would know where the best steak houses in the city are, and have the time to replace the gold fish. He also probably speaks with a London accent as well. Which is why the woman he asked out and the lady in the pet shop didn't mention anything about an accent like Layla did.

I love this episode. As a Brit and Londoner, I'm loving Oscar Isaac doing the Steven, not only is he doing the a very good English accent, a proper regional accent, but he is nailing the British and London slag words making his performance even funnier. When he punched the monster dog thing and said What Gwan! My sides ached with laughter, because it was Jamaican slang, because in London young working class people speak a newer accent which is Multicultural London English is accent that is a mix of Jamaican, South Asian, African, Greek and Cockney, the major London minorities. So people will borrow phrases from each culture that influenced this accent like What Gwan! A Jamaican greeting, and nerdy Steven would say that thinking he is cool and has street cred after punching the dog man had me laughing for 5 minutes. Steven is now my favourite Marvel character.

The different version of the suit is Mr.Knight... he is an alternate persona of MoonKnight who works as a detective and sometimes helps police in investigating crimes... He is a lot more approachable than MoonKnight. So maybe in future we will see Steven use his Mr.Knight persona and solve some cases and help some people while Marc uses his MoonKnight persona and beat the shit out of the criminals... Ayo, we got Mr. Knight in the house! I can go with the show making it a sorta Steven version of Khonshu's armour. In the comics, Mr. Knight is not necessarily a separate identity from all the others, it's just a... people-friendly version of Moon Knight. Moon Knight is all about intimidation and violence to solve problems, while Mr. Knight is more insightful, understanding, more like a detective (self-described "concerned citizen"). His current run by Jed McKay is brilliant. Also, Khonshu's portrayal is pretty much spot-on with the comics: manipulative, selfish, a bit infantile.

Holy crap Oscar Issac is so freaking amazing in this show. This is some of the best acting in the entire MCU. Even through the very slight changes in his facial expressions and body language you can tell the very clear difference between Marc and Steven. Also I feel so freaking bad for Steven, he really just wants to live a normal life without all this supernatural stuff, be a tour guide for a museum, meet a nice girl and settle down with her. And everyone thinks Peter Parker has the worst work/life balance in Marvel.

I have a friend who has been into the Moon Knight comics for a long time, and has developed a fondness for the comic version of Steven Grant. He really likes the billionaire version of Steven, the one who goes on an ass kicking rampage in the 2014 run. I've only recently begun reading the comics, and don't mind so much the departure of Steven to a more grounded character like the one we see in the show. I think it makes the struggle with Dissociative Identity Disorder more profound and significant. Was wondering what Achara thought (if I recall correctly she said she's been reading the comics)? Would the Mr. Knight and Moon Knight/Marc Spector and Steven Grant work better as they were originally intended in the comics?

The billionaire version of Steven grant was too reminiscent of Bruce Wayne and I never felt any originality in that character.... just one among the auxiliary personalities Marc the Main protagonist has. This is way different and i personally love Steven and Mr Knight (again Mr Knight was just moon knight in a suit and who does detective work alongside the cops or supernatural work like John Constantine But with ton of money and some other shit ) And ya I love Steven and most people who watched this for the first time love him too and if Billionaire Grant replaced him people would be like: "Hey this is just BATMAN!"

I think it would be fitting to make Steven Grant a billionare at the end of the season as a mark of his character development and as a compromise for comic fans who loved "billionare Steven Grant". Like he becames more assertive and tries to help in his own way, but is still against the idea of the whole mercenary/Moon Knight thing. It would also highlight that maybe his strengths are detective work (as Mr. Knight) or a great Auctioneer of Egyptian relics (billionare Steven Grant comics) by obtaining golds and treasure from Khonshu's tomb/statue since he's very knowledgeable in Egyptian myths and history. Old civilizations have a lot of secrets (like gold and treasure) in fictional stories and in real life as well so it would make sense to have some sort of secret treasure to use.

Marc is the original personality. Steven was an alias when Marc went on missions & needed a disguise. Marc has the life. Being in the military, falling in love & getting married. I think the end scene is where the personality spilt happened. After Marc was resurrected by Konshu. He couldn’t deal with what his life had become. Remember he was part of the killing of the researchers. Probably with Durchamp. And he wanted to separate from his wife to protect her. Steven has all of the attributes of Layla. Speaking French & loving the same books. He even is talking to his “imaginary” mother. Something Marc had stopped doing for some reason. I think Marc manifested Steven in full realization to be the opposite of him. Mild & meek. Someone who couldn’t hurt a fly.

What an episode ! The cinematography is as fantastic as the first one ! This series reminds me of a crossover between the Mummy, Blade, Darkman, and Perfect Blue. There are some shots that reminded me directly of Perfect Blue, with all the dialogues through windows and mirrors, and the Jackal's reflection in the windows during the rooftop chase. As for who's controlling the body, it feels like it's either when one of them is asleep or KO so that the other has to fill in, or one of them allows the other to take control. I actually thought Steven got KO'd when he hit this lamp on his fall, and the suit was yet another persona. Then, the whole "uuh, Steven ? What are we wearing ?" exchange completely caught me offguard. As for the invisible fight, I feel like this was an artistic decision made out of a budget necessity (Producers : We don't have the budget to make the whole Jackal fight. Directors : Then don't)

So we have debut of mister Night. I love this. I like that you cannot see the jackal when Steven/Marc is fighting it. Just because something isn’t real to someone else does it mean it’s not real to you. We had to return of MCU purple power. I like that Arthur has his hands everywhere I love his cult members are part of the police corruption which gives me the idea that maybe Arthur wants to be the God he doesn’t want to be an avatar. I like the Disney+ jump from the previews that we see from one night. All the stuff that Layla likes is what Steven likes so I feel like Marc is the main personality and Steven is what he created later. Steven is definitely his softer side but I feel like all of that comes from Layla. The jacket is definitely based off of Anubis got of the dead in Egyptian mythology. A lot of this reminds me of the 90s movie Spawn just how he moves. khonshu is kind of a dick lol. With the difference personalities talking through mirrors it reminds me of extraordinary gentlemen Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Marc is the original/primary personality. I don't know if this is originally from the comics, but I heard a theory that since Marc is Khonsu's avatar, he is burdened with a lot of dangerous and stressful missions. Maybe he's depressed or got his mind (sanity) broken. In order to survive, he made this alter personality, Steven, and was hoping to have a normal life.

17:25 Marc is the original personality in the comics and they wouldn't diverge from that. I like however how they make viewers who don't already know the character question who is the original personality. Just like Marc did in some of the comic stories not really knowing who he really is anymore. I think we're supposed to think that Steven is the main and we'll learn - at the same time as he does- in episode 4 I think that he isn't (According to hints early reviewers gave...). There's hints that Steven is an alter in this episode. Like the fact that his favorite poet is Layla's or that he is passionated by/knows so much about ancient Egypt. Marc's subconscious took that from her to make Steven. Also the fact that Marc has an American passport. While he could have forged one, I think this one is legit which means he has American citizenship. Also the fact that Steven's accent isn't perfect and his word choices are weird. And the fact that Khonshu calls him a parasite. Also the fact that Layla has no idea about Steven and that Steven has aspects of her in his tastes and personality means Steven is recent-ish. In the comics he's not, he's been with Marc since childhood. That's one mystery left for me, how did Steven appear and why in this version? I feel like episode 4 will be very crushing for Steven. Imagine thinking you're a real person with a life and a past and finding out you're an alter of someone else. It's almost worse than finding out you're in a simulation.

There is no "one" Moon Knight. The Huston run from 2006, which is where I got hooked, yeah Marc did enjoy being Moon Knight. Other runs, he fights against Khonshu and hates the servitude. Marc and Khonshu have always had a difficult relationship because Khonshu has his own agenda.

Seems like Steven will develop into the Detective Knight character with Marc as the Moon Knight character. Caught the Global Repatriation Council (GRC from FaWS) ad on the side of the London double-decker bus placing this show within the timeline of the FaWS show! Looking forward to Benson & Moorhead who directed this episode & Ep 4 directing Loki S2! QR Code to Moon Knight Comics was a nice touch!

It's not about having to have control granted, but if Steven is fighting him off it won't work and Marc won't be able to front in the way he needs to, you're right Achara, it doesn't matter which alter was the "original", specially because DID happens when you're so young so neither of them were (though they for sure will have an original social identity), right now Steven is the host and he fronts more often, but if I'm not mistaken the body was born as american Marc Spector
