She is so good at remaining true to the original melody and timing of the original studio release of these songs. Then, even though she makes no attempt to sing in anything besides her own voice, she is so good at matching the “tension” in the voice of the original artist that it almost passes as a perfect impression of the original.

When I was growing up, I would hear this song sung by Andy Williams and was enamored with the emotion and tone that he put into it. I did not even realize that this song was from a movie until much later in life. As much as I loved Andy's version of this song, I now have a new favorite version. What happens on these shows is one thing, it’s how things go in the real world that counts. I don’t know of a winner, either on the kids or adults version of the UK show who has gone on to release 3 albums

@@adamknight7904 Thank you. Yes too many young singers get famous overnight then fade into obscurity. I can list a few offhand who won 1st in competitions, and now are in a slump. Lucy passed them by long ago, and they will never catch up to her. Even if they copied her exactly, they will never have the voice Lucy has. And her voice continues to get better with each new song. Lucy has lead role in a London Theater Musical. It was postponed due to Covid, but will get back on track. When Lucy is front and center on stage singing live to 20,000 packed into Theater, the entire world will finally see real talent.

i agree totally with you. What i don't understand is the guy on the far side said the word perfect before the first man turned his chair and the women waited till the song was almost over before she turned hers. makes me think that it wasn't very fair and had to wait for his okay. probably why she finished fifth place, she should have won hands down.

I was 18 when Danny Williams took this song to the top of the UK singles chart in 1961 and I never liked it, and still didn't like it when i heard the Andy Williams version. I was 3 or 4 years into my Rock & Roll appreciation phase and Moon River didn't fit into that genre. However Lucy, you have a knack of making every song you perform sound as though it was written just for you. This one is no exception and although it still doesn't make it into my favourite songs list, your version at least made me want to listen again. Your beautiful voice gives me goose bumps every time I hear it.
