I'm finding myself getting excited for every flat ride Friday. There's some incredibly clever engineering in all of these.

I'm a German funfair enthusiast and thus have been on both "Mr. Gravity" and "Reactor" in the Netherlands. Hands down, I much prefer Reactor to Mr. Gravity. To me, the riding experience is less jerky, but more G-Force intensive, which is a win-win in my books. The only thing Mr. Gravity does better is the theming. Dutch rides, while being much faster than their German counterparts, lack some of the theming related things like music or jingles. Sometimes, even backgrounds are absent from rides (can you imagine a Break Dance ride without a background? Dutch showmen sure can xD)

I'm pretty sure the break dance rides without backgrounds are No.3s. In germany, the larger No.1 and No.2 (4/6 crosses, flat plate, entire ride on an angle) are more popular, while in the netherlands you see a lot of breakdance No.3 (4 crosses, cone-shaped plate, whole ride sits flat). If there's a no.1 without a background, i would love to see it. That has to be really bizarre.

@@yasu3deven a traveling No3 in Germany (power dancer by showman Sonntag) still has a backdrop. Small, but it's there!
@NoahCoasterNerd6 ай бұрын
Yeah the breakdances we have that lack a backdrop are No.3's which are flat and thus don't really have a front or back side. The advantage of this is that they can easily be put in the middle of small fairs/plazas where guests can watch and access the ride from every angle

These are some of my favorite fairground rides - M&D's Eclipse (Fabbri Contact) toured for many years in Scotland. Dreams Live, a frequent visitor to Newcastle Hoppings for severel years, and Mr Gravity on the mainland are both great rides too

I have also done both Mr Gravity and Reactor, I also prefer Reactor. The supposed reason Dream's live was converted is because it was extremely intense. Reactor gives better cycles than the standard Heavy Rotation, so imagine doing it while being uncomfortably pushed in your OTSR'S. On the fair in Tilburg in 2021 (not sure about the exact date) there was one seat that was put back facing outwards, and fans could pay in advance to experience it for the final time. Whats interesting is that Reactor can only go up when standing still, and not during rotation like Mr Gravity can. There's also a Heavy Rotation traveling in Austria, and a new one premiering this year as Mythos with a norse (?) theme in Germany.

3:45 isn't it the other way around? When you combine 2 vectors into one of the same direction as the 2 don't you get stronger force? Also Take Off/Shake Off ride works under same logic.

I've ridden Reactor multiple times and it truly is amazing! Reactor also did a special event during the fair of Weert in I believe 2021, where one pair of seats switched from inward facing to outward facing position for only 1 hour before the fair opened. I've also ridden that and I can tell you, thats way more intense and fun. However, it was way more painful as well, as being pushed in the otsr isn't very comfortable 😅

There has been an new fabbri contact delivered to sweden in 2022, the ride type is not discontinued, just not sold very often. You could have mentioned the AK rides gforce also. This is a slovkian copy of the heavy rotation. The first one is traveling in germany named "Project X" Funny enough, there have been delivered both a AK rides and a Technical Park model just this week. 😅

I had hoped to ride "Tropical Dance" at Ocean City NJ ... but by the time I got there, the ride was gone. Now I hear it's at Atlantic City; I have little desire to go there, apart from riding this (as I've never ridden a similar such ride). I do get a smile at the name "Mr. Gravity" I think it's a more thrilling ride when the rotations are in the same direction ... for the same reason why you'd NEVER see a Scrambler ride have the arms spin in the same direction as the main part of the ride. (I actually DID ride a Scorpion ride that was run that way, and man was THAT intense!)

A Six Flags park relocated its Eyerly Monster ride to a new section, painted it, gave it a new name, and reversed the direction of the “crosses” so everything was rotating in the same direction. It was extremely intense. So much so that the individual cars weren’t able to spin freely during the ride. I’m sure there were some neck injuries that season.

Dreamland Amusements is taking delivery of a Heavy Rotation in 2025/2026.
@DJWezzyK6 ай бұрын
The reasons the seats were flipped were TUV regulations. In Germany, the heavy rotation named Dr. Gravity is not allowed to run on full speed by the TUV, while the Reactor, which is bigger, is allowed to go all out, said so with this seating setup.
@Pobreshcom6 ай бұрын
It was because of the heavy negative g forces, many riders came out with bruses and puking. Some even passed out. It was way too intense. It had nothing to do with the tuv. The ride was converted when it was still traveling in france, they have no tuv 😅

@@Pobreshcom France also have TUV, but not required. The TUV said to Technical Park the seats had to be flipped if they wanted to continue selling these.
