Just remember rubber hoses are “no abrasions, bubbles, or cuts”, rubber seals and wiper blades are “not cut, torn, or dry rotted”, metal is “not bent, cracked, or broken”, plastics are “not chipped, cracked, or broken” and everything is “properly mounted and secured with no missing hardware”.

I did the same at the DMV for my alley dock & everyone wanted tips I couldn’t really explain lol. “Position yourself good, watch the trailer, make the adjustments needed, & take it slow” is all I can really say.

The majority of videos on KZbin about reversing give basic information. I struggled with backing up until I tried to understand what happens at the kingpin. That's when I improved on backing up because I now understand what is taking place. I was focusing too much on the end of my trailer because of teachings turn your steering to the left to go right or right to go left, that only works in straight backing up once you have to back into an alley or around a corner that no longer works. I now, back up with knowledge of what's happening at the kingpin, while focusing on the entire trailer not just the end knowing my steering controls the tractor and not the trailer. So when I turn my steering to the right the back of the tractor unit goes to the right taking the front of the trailer with it which then pushes the end of the trailer to the left.
@michaelj13682 жыл бұрын
Wow he's setup hi. My trainer taught me to setup favoring the ally side. After watching this maneuver setting up hi then backing the trailer to center then turning hard makes way more sense.

This video leads the viewer to believe that the driver shown in the cabin is driving in synchronous with the truck scene (seen*) in the video. This was my belief the first few times that I saw this video. Upon the last time I've seen the video I noticed toward the end it doesn't show the driver steering the tractor back in line with the trailer at the last three feet of the box. Even though we see the tractor starting to line up and follow the trailer we don't see the driver in the video steering at the same time. We see him holding the steering wheel in the same position. I'm thinking they overlaid the wrong recording of this video. Leads me to believe it wasn't done in one shot by the demonstrator either. Not to mention it was a totally different driver.
