Nice carb covers....In AZ, USA the black levers in the summer would melt my hands. I have the aluminum on my Street Glide and are wrapped in leather and I wear Gloves. The black looks dyno-mite on that Triumph. When was the last time you lubbed the clutch cable....could have done it when you changed out the levers. Just keeping you on your toes Del! Back in the day I used to garage my Triple Yamaha next to a Triumph Triple...............I'd drool over that sweety.....were talking 1978-79. Id give my Harley up for that beauty! Shiney side up

Del, I know this is an old video, but I'm having trouble with my 2011 Bonneville America. When I started getting it ready this spring. When I would start it it ran rougher and rougher, till it wouldn't start at all. Yes, I stupidly left gas in it over the winter, so my first action was draining the tank, changed the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs. Oil etc. The usual. Still very hard to start if at all. When I can get it to start it idles rough then dies. If I can get it started I can put my hand over the air snorkel and barely let it have air it'll run and rev fairly smooth. Obviously it's running very Lean. I've got new micro-filter baskets ordered to go in the injectors. My biggest question is how do I get the injectors out once I get the top hats off? Man, any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't find anything on injector removal. Thanks in advance, and may God bless you and penny.

HI mate, thats never an easy one, and it's always a job of butchery once they strip.. have you tried clamping the head of the screw with a pair of slim nose locking pliers while turning with the screw driver at the same time?... otherwise, if they genuinely are locked in there solid and stripped out, then they're pretty easy to drill out yourself mate.. you only need to spin the head itself off, then the cap can be removed, and you can remove the stumps with some grips.!! Good luck with it mate, hope that helps in some way.

Hi D & P! I just put those same levers on my Bonnie. But after I adjusted the clutch to where I wanted it, it wouldn’t actuate the clutch safety switch. Any thoughts on why that is? If I put the lever adjustment to the farthest out, it works, but if I set it to a closer setting, no dice. Good thing I have big hands...
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, the super wide range of adjustability on these levers does put at the edge of their range on their closest setting, the trick is to adjust out all the slack on the cable and you should still get a safe dis-engagement, but if you have larger hands then I guess you don't need to.
@jimpion4 жыл бұрын
Delboy's Garage I’m still working on the dark arts of clutch and throttle adjustments. Lol. Also of impotence at this time is adjusting the rear brake pedal. I put the TEC foot controls on, and now the rear sits too low, and has too much play in it. I think I know what to do, but I was actually looking to see if you had a video for that. Hey Del and Penny. Hope you are safe and healthy. Del, any secret tips on removing a stubborn Philips head screw that's on one of my engine casings? I've got one off under "dad power" but the other is just going to round. I'm replacing one of the smaller casings but I'm not sure 1. How to get the last one out and 2. Should I replace the screws?
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
Hi Tor, remind me what bike that is? Only purely because I'm interested, last time I saw Philips screws in engine casings was in early 70's Jap bikes or Brit bikes, they've been allen screws for as long as I can remember, anyway, if it's a Philips head, as far as I remember they would be a dome shape, so can you maybe get a pair of pointed locking pliers, if you have some, across the head to grip it and then turn with a screwdriver at the same time? That can help... another trick if you don't have an impact driver is with the screwdriver in the head, tap on it very gently with a small hammer as you force inwards and turn, and you make your own kind of impact driver... try those things and see how it goes... if you've chewed it out through, then it's easier to just drill the head off carefully and use a drill bit the same size as the screw shaft, then when you drill the head off, don't go any deeper, take the casing off and you should have a healthly stump to get hold of with the grips.... and as for replacing the screws, I'd upgrade them to allen heads if you can source them.
@torks23394 жыл бұрын
@@Moonfleet41 It's the crankcase cover on the right hand side of a 2010 Yamaha XJR 1300 Del. It has 2 recessed philips head screws holding it in and they are bloody tight and bloody long! Like I said top one came out with a bit of a fight but the bottom one won't budge and I can see it'll round if I try any harder. But you saying that I think the trusty old impact driver will sort it out once I can get outside to some tools! Sadly my lockdown has me locked away from my workshop!
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
@@torks2339 OK, i know the ones, well if the head is already part chewed then its going down a much trodden road already.. if the impact driver can't get hold of it then its the usual surgery.. give yourself every chance you can with the impact driver first.. if the head is sharp to the touch that means the steel is bruised outwards from force, so take a small hammer and gently tap the head of the screw to push the bruised out metal back into place, and that will tighten up the cross cut a little.. then take some time choosing the exact right fitting cross head bit, make sure it fits dead snug with no slop.. and when you it it, hit dead square on.. im sure it'll crack and then be able to be removed... good luck with it buddy.. hope it's a success.. !

You don't say what year your Bonneville, is it actually carb, or fuel injection like this one, as EFI bikes will self adjust, but even if it is carb, you shouldn't need much of a change, it's not a great altitude difference. If anything it will run a little richer, which is safe, so check your plugs after a few days of riding around.

Hi Del, Great vid as always. Could you answer a question for me please? May seem a silly one but l changed the levers on the rocket a while ago, can you tell me why the brake pivot screw seems to be a scew in type ie slot for screw driver and the clutch side is flat? Thanks
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, that's an easy answer, the flat pin on the clutch has a shoulder underneath it, if you look closely, and that stops it twisting in it's hole, because the pulling in action of the clutch would eventually un-screw it, but on the brake side, the lever action actually does it up, so no risk of undoing it, they both have lock nuts on the bottom for safety, that's the reason a clutch pin doesn't screw in.

@@Moonfleet41 Sorry to be a pain Del but I've purchased some kellerman atto indicators, l dont know if your familiar with them they are ultra small. Do you think that it would be a safe place to fit them, ie the pivot screws would no come loose or undo with this adapter fitted? They also do one that fits under the mirrors using the screws again. Can you tell me your thoughts on this if you dont mind? Many thanks...lee
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
@@R3RLEE OK mate, a good idea would be to talk to Kellerman, because I'm sure they would have tested approved positions for their products, but I'd have to see them to be sure... just one thing though, remember, that on the left hand side the shouldered pivot for the clutch doesn't screw in to the clevice clamp, it's on ly the nut that holds it down in place, and there's only about 10mm of thread, so you'd have to check whether you can get it on there and still get the nut on top of it, I wouldn't really know unless I looked at it closely mate.

Try an ez out. You will have to replace that fastener because the ez out will destroy it..... But you will get it out.
