I know I've said this before, but I'm always amazed by how excellent your close ups are, and the sharpness of the camera focus work. One of the best on KZbin, IMHO. For me, I think I would have gone with a classic old school Napoleon style folding mirror, but maybe the younger, more hip biking crowd would find them a bit too dated, lol.

Hang the bar end mirrors under the bars and use only the RH side, elbow gone, as your looking past your waste, it's amazing how quickly you get used to it and it looks so much better, I been doing it on Harleys and Triumphs for decades, long before Harley did it on their 48 which I have now to play on though I do use both on the RK when I go somewhere.

Nice video series on the Triumph. I must say for a used bike its absolutely spotless. No rust, dirt, stuck fasteners. Im really impressed with the look achieved by those few blingy bits. I totally agree with the smaller mirrors the bar ends didnt look as good in my opinion. I bet Penny is very pleased with her trusty Bonneville. Stay safe guys all the best SR

Del, Once I saw you lean back with coffee in hand and started to look at the mirrors, I was thinking the same thing you were. I do have some common sense here. LOL Awesome video Del.

Hey buddy, good to hear from you... ! Sure thing on the mirrors, I think they work on ape hangers, as they're level with your face, which is ideal... but on this bike, they'd be down level with your knees, and it can't be healthy to have to cast your eyes down so low away from the road in search of a rear view. Saturday morning and a new vid ... Great way to start the weekend. If you ever have time free, I'd love a 5 minute walk thru on how you get the bike on the table and wind the front clamp on solo while supporting the bike. I'm buying myself a lift table for my Xmas and would like to watch how to clamp the front wheel. Cheers.
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
Hi buddy, what a great present for yourself, you'll absolutely love it.. ! I do have a video, called 'Safe Use of a Motorcycle Lift' which should help you out a lot, it also covers the safety tips and basics of making sure you don't hurt yourself, or damage your bike, but generally speaking, it's not difficult, just a matter of vigilance, a bit of balance and practice... if you keep the front wheel clamp just open enough to slot the wheel in, then you can hold the bike up with your right hand, whilst you clamp the wheel with your left... if you try it a few times with a helper nearby, then you'll get the hang of it and you can do it on your own... enjoy your Xmas present mate, you won't look back... oh, and don't forget the load straps!

Excellent video as always sir, looking into the triumph speed twin as my next bike in the future. My monster 821 with over 33,000 miles sits in my garage with a cover on it 😑 due to major service needs but this pandemic has cost me my job as a window washer in NYC since March so its persons like yourself that keep me going. Thanks so much from across the pond.
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
Good evening David, good to hear from you Sir, and we are so sorry to hear the terrible news about your job... what a crippling blow on top of all the health worries and we hear on the news that NYC has been hit really bad by the Covid bug, so we hope above everything else, that you and your family are safe and well? It's great to hear that you're interested in a Triumph, will you trade the Ducati in? They're a premium bike, so I iimagine you'd get a great price, regardless of service schedule... if you do for the Triumph, and you are able to test ride them, then check the Speed Twin against the T120, they're a slightly different engine, the T120 has a heavier flywheel for more low down torque, which is a big advantage in town... you can keep the revs low, and ride the torque surge, the Speed Twin is more revvy and a bit more 'hooligan'... so maybe try them both and see which one appeals. Thank you for your kind message and weboth wish you much success going forward, keep safe and keep in touch, we'd love to hear from you any time, all the very best, Del & Pennyx

I do not know how it works in UB but in Italy those mirrors, especially the second set, would probably not pass the bi-yearly safety inspection (is there one in UK? the removal of the cat converter makes me wonder....). Mirrors need the CE approval, and above all, must fulfill the purpose! I personally have no problem at all with the original Bonneville mirror, they are not ugly at all, they "belong to the picture", and do fulfill the purpose!

@@rsbharley4766 No, far from it mate, people are more stupid than ever, selfish and ignorant, now demonstrating in London, 15k strong calling themselves the anti-lockdown league or something, we have a student outbreak at a university so they've all been locked in their accommodation, for obvious reasons, and they are all screaming about their human rights... and it appears that people will not take it seriously... the problem we have here is that county borders aren't recognised by anyone, we don't have different states and this is a small country, Boris should have locked the county borders back in March, instead of literally telling people they can go as far as they want to exercise, so 1/2 million dipshits came to the beach here where we live on the same day! So much better looking now Del, Can the new levers be adjusted closer to the bars than standard items?
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
Fractionally yes, but more importantly, they can actually go further out for people with big hands, and also the ball on the end of the standard ones is irritatingly always under your little finger and obtrusive, but the the TEC levers all four fingers fall perfectly in the sweep of the straight part... there's only so much closer that any lever can come before you fail to get full application, especially with the cluth, and on top of that buddy, they're infinitely better quality as well... these factory levers are practically the same as were on Penny's Scrambler that's now 7yrs old, so they really should have updated them by now!

Hey Del, wanted to ask. I keep hearing how light the clutch pull is on the Triumph Bonnevilles. Mines a 2005 and the clutch is not, a one finger pull like I keep hearing. When did they, or did they change to a different ttype of clutch set up? I'm not saying it's super hard, it's just not the,,,,assisted,,, feeling, like a hydraulic clutch is,feel. Thanks Del.
@Moonfleet413 жыл бұрын
I don't know the date mate, but the most recent Triumphs that have lightweight clutches achieve it through a better designed clutch ramp inside the casing... you can reduce your clutch pull with a Slinky Glide cable, specially if yours is quite old, or original most people don't replace them till they break, then you're standard, so chuck a Slinky Glide on it and it should make a notable improvement (we have videos on this if you need to know!).
@peterford93693 жыл бұрын
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks Del, Mines a 2005. I do notice the connection point of at the case on the newer bikes is at the bottom, where mine is on top. Greetings from across the pond, I recently purchased a 2018 Bonneville T120 from a dealer in Texas and had it shipped to me here in snowy and frigid Eastern Washington state. It arrived a few days ago. Previously I owned an air cooled 2016 air cooled T100. Changing the spark plugs although a little tight was easy in that bike. Is it just me or does it seem nearly impossible to change the plugs on the T120!!?? When I go to remove the plug wire, the hard plastic spark plug boot does not seem to clear the tank. I hope it's not the case that the tank needs to be removed just to change the stinking spark plug. Also haven't been able to find anything on the the web about changing plugs on the T120. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
@Moonfleet412 жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel, take the seat off, remove the rear bolts the hold the back of the tank, then lift the tank up by the beck edge and put a block of wood under it to hold the tank up a bit.. that should give you clearance to change the plugs..!

Hi Paul, of course I'm aware that various information I put across may not be known, otherwise I wouldn't do it, the simple reason I say, you knew that, is for those that do know and have known it for years, just trying to be polite mate and cater for all viewer's skill set, no offence intended, I wouldn't suggest at all that you should know any of the things that help us, we're all novices at some point and every day's a school day, certainly me included mate!

I just bought a 2023 T120 a couple of months ago. Don't love the mirrors. Who is the manufacturer for those mirrors? And the model? I'm interested. Thanks.

Cannot find these mirrors on the tecbikeparts website.

I believe they no longer stock those mirrors, and for what it's worth, they're not very good anyway. They look ok, but the glass was flat and not convex, to they gave a tiny field of view.. i cnaged over not long after this to some slightly larger ones..!

Question for you sir. I just replaced my levers on my 2009 Bonneville SE. The original ones had a little play in them moving up and down. When I installed the new ones the have the same play. Is this supposed to be this way? I was thinking my old levers when just old and a little warped.
@Moonfleet418 ай бұрын
If you've replaced the levers in to the old clevice clamp, is it possible the wear is in the clamp and not in the lever? Take the two levers and measure the thickness of the end that fits in to the clevice with a caliper, if they are more or less the same, then that confirms the wear is in the clamp housing... so to eliminate it, you'll have to replace them! Also, is there wear on the pin that drops through the hole, and are you using the same worn pin?

I think the bar ends might have looked better under the bars

Maybe a black exhaust would be better suited.

Does the engine guard leave room to change the oil filter.
@Moonfleet413 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, but you're gonna get splash out from removing it, so just undo the four screws and drop it off, as you don't want to have oil laying inside your bashguard!

What would your dream bike build be del, money no object. ??
@Moonfleet414 жыл бұрын
Now there's a thing... I think it would be just to have an open cheque book and not have to scrimp and scrape to buy parts and materials all the time... to build anything without the restrictions of budget is a dream in itself!
@JapsDmz4 жыл бұрын
@@Moonfleet41 it would be good to be able to do it, totally agree it would be a dream. I really want to streetfighter mine but it gets expensive fast ha ha. Hopefully one day you might be able to do a full on build , no expense spared.!
