Risso is a great horror artist. This and his latin american "Yo, Vampiro" (I, Vampire) with Carlos Trillo on scripts are two good monsters sagas with a spin.

@@Stormnation3 story seems interesting, I’m a huge fan of anything published by image and I’m a sucker for those deluxe editions they put out. So I say it’s worth adding it to the collection.

Great overview, Omar, as always. I’ve read the paperbacks, and I will probably upgrade. I enjoyed reading it, and Risso’s artwork is superb. I just have two minor criticisms about Azzarello’s writing in this book, something you briefly touched upon, Omar. I appreciate that, in his dialogues, Azzarello strives for realism, and usually he does a very good job. In real life people don’t always speak in a way that is grammatically correct. But they do sometimes. And yet, reading this book, you’d think no one is ever able to put a decent sentence together. At times the dialogue was so incoherent I wasn’t really sure what they were talking about. And it’s not just the hillbillies. Was everyone in 1929 completely illiterate? Not to mention that even illiterate people can speak properly every now and then. Not here, though. It’s just a bit too much, in my opinion. Also, I think you’re right, Omar. Perhaps the story does lack focus. It’s a bit all over the place. It seems directionless. But those criticisms aside, it’s a fun read.

I never heard of this title or character, because I hardly get any Image comics. I DO know of Brian Azzarello because I have the Joker graphic novel, and I know of his work with Wonder Woman. I like this overview very much, Omar. Thanks!

The first 17 issues were fantastic, art was amazing all the way through, after those first 17, the story took a sharp turn downhill for me.

Luther Strode complete collection, Wayward total of 3 hardcover’s, Black Science, East of West, Papergirls, Skyward, those are all from image comics. If you need other recommendations don’t hesitate to ask.

I’m afraid, my friend, that you have to find it by yourself. For example, there is Skyward in recommended, but for me it’s a total crap. On the other hand I liked Black science, but I know many people who can’t stand Remender. So read a little bit of everything to understand what you like. In general I would recommend to pick up Image comics or any other independent publishers. Marvel and Dc basically retell the same stories over and over again.
