This is my childhood right here. I was weaned on them.

When my grandpa died, his church stole his massive vinyl collection before I and the family could get to it. I’ve been wishing I could hear the music he played in the background when I visited as a child. I always wished I could ask him his favorite music, and songs. Well, I just found a 5 disc CD player he had, still loaded with his music. This is disc 4, and listening to these songs is so nostalgic, I can’t explain how satisfying is it just to hear the music I heard him playing. If you have grandparents around, ask them about their music taste, and dig deep- that’s something I regret not doing.

My dad's favourite song. And certainly one of mine, too. Those Clancy Brothers......

They were given the song for the freedom they were deprived of. And they were given the whiskey and the stout too. They made merry when merrry Old England wasn't watching, wherever and whenever they could.

"I'm a rambler I'm a gambler - I'm a long way from home - and if ye don't like me, well leave me alone - I'll go to some hollow and set up my still - and I'll make you a gallon - for a 2 dollar bill". My IRISH GRANDMOTHER took me on her knee and told me her story. - about how she had made moonshine. -The British had ENSLAVED the Irish people and they had NOTHING. She started making moonshine to save her family - 12 children - from destitution. I was only 4 years old, so I didn't really understand ANYTHING. But I UNDERSTOOD this MAIN POINT. SARAH saved her family from the scourge of STARVATION and I AM HERE - now aged 79 - TO TESTIFY to THAT TRUTH.

@moskenfod That would be Finbarr Clancy, Bobby Clancy's son (the guy playing banjo). This was probably during the early 90s when he played with them on tour. Fin is in his own band now (The High Kings) which is wildly popular.

That's Finbarr Clancy (The High Kings) all the way on the left. Son of Bobby Clancy (on the banjo).

I was wondering if it was. Saw them live a few months ago and Finbarr sang this himself.

the man playing banjo?

@@Aeraleach He's probably means where is it coming from when the banjo player has clearly stopped playing his banjo: 0:28, 1:12, 1:42, 2:42, for example. And if you watch the banjo player, it's clear that the entire time, he is NOT playing the banjo part that we hear.

I have the full show of this downloaded, and i'm only speculating, but i think they added the instruments after the show was filmed, maybe to get an improved sound for the video when it was released, that's pure guess work though, i'm not even sure they'd have the technology to do that in 1995
