Moorer uses distance very well. He takes small steps and shoots his jab and fights only when he is ready to fight. Against Foreman he didn't keep proper distance and George measured HIM for the right hand. He got cocky because he was beating George up for most of the rounds and got caught by that hammer of a right hand.

Lewis did get better with age. In some of his earlier fights he sometimes looked awkward, but I think that happens with every fighter. Plus, his opponent didn’t want to be aggressive so he had to chase him around the ring.

I saw this fight live & in person. Super disappointed that the Butler who knocked out Tony Tubbs didn't show up. Butler was 40 pounds overweight- he blew it.

By this point Lewis had lost one fight to a flash KO and already won a world title. They are talking about him as if he was still a novice. I don't know what it is about US pundits and commentators but they will find any conceivable angle to downplay a non US fighter, particularly British or European, but give US fighters eternal benefit of the doubt. When Tyson eventually fought Lewis, and he only did so for the money having paid him off not to fight, folk forget that Tyson was given every chance of winning. I recall many found him the favourite for the fight. The reality is that Tyson had already been beaten up by Douglas, soundly beaten twice by Holyfield, and ducked pretty much every top contender of the 1990s. Tyson was never going to win the Lewis fight at any time from the 1990s onwards. Tyson knew that better than anyone. And Tyson did indeed take a beating. To this day Tyson is lorded by the US public but Lewis was "the man" of his era. Even Holyfield and Bowe are overlooked in favour of Tyson. A joke.

Lewis and Tyson Fury would be my picks to be in the Finals of a HYPOTHETICAL 16-MAN Greatest Heavyweight of All Time Tournament if EVERYONE could be at their OWN PEAK of Fighting for the tournament.. Only other person I could see sneaking into the Finals is Wladimir Klitschko with the right match ups.. And last I checked, these were all foreign guys..

I might start a blog or write a book on the fighter-trainer dynamic. I respect George to the upmost degree. Albeit, it is fascinating to hear him state that he believes a trainer will make zero difference. Yes, hindsight is twenty-twenty and Emanuel is a legendary trainer... Fascinating. Ex. Ali was helped when Angelo bought the Champ time with the torn glove in London... So, all though that is not a tactical example that is a smart trainer a benefit..

At the time Butler was seen as a dark horse, 17 fights unbeaten, ranked in the top 10. No one wanted anything to do with him... credit to Lewis for taking him on, especially coming off his first loss. Then on to Morrison and Mercer. Lennox had balls of steel.

Ive been watching a lot of these HBO ones on here.. I forgot just how much Larry Merchant would OUT RIGHT BURY boxers especially if a top level boxer was facing someone they should easily beat.. Man, I'm surprised they let him do it that hard.. You would think the idea, even if someone is set up as a tune-up fight, or a high level vs lower level fight, you'd do your best to SELL THE FIGHT!! OR the idea that SOMETHING MAY HAPPEN!! LOL!! Larry especially, but even the other commentators (Lampley, Mercer, Lewis, etc) through the years, have kinda buried the actual fight, while supposed to be there TO SELL IT TO THE FANS, AND PROMOTE IT!! I think its funny as hell, and I enjoy the REALISM OF WHAT THEY DO!! But its definitely counter productive lol. I miss HBO Boxing SOOO MUCH!!

For whatever reason Moorer hates acknowledging his corner, even when hid corners giving him the best advice. What he did that special about the fight with foreman you could just tell he hated the fact that atlas was so flamboyant and got so much attention even though Atlad was probably the reason he won the title. In that Foreman fight Atlas (The commentators and everyone in the seats) was saying to stay the fuck away from Formans right hand that he’s going to try to get him with a sneaky one two. And that’s exactly what happened. What I thought was so crazy is that he was kind of justifying his tactics even though he got knocked out. I’d say when you got a good trainer in your corner they’re probably giving you advice that you should take not the other way around. that was his problem all the time. Could’ve went down as one of the very best, instead he just kinda went down as a decent fighter who lost the title to George foreman.

Lots of people called Foreman's ko of Moorer a lucky punch(some claimed it didn't land at all) and hindsight is always 20/20, but I don't think it was luck. George set him up, had Moorer moved to his right and not stood in front of Foreman he would have retained his title.

Butler really let himself down coming in so heavy. Would of had a much greater chance at around 240 lbs. 261 was far too heavy for a fighter like Lewis who is difficult to get inside on. Butler needed quickness and he sacrificed that

Lennox was intimidated and unsure of himself against a fat journeyman. I give him credit for overcoming his self doubt to accomplish as much as he did in boxing. His ko against Rahman in the rematch made up for a lot of his timidity in previous fights.
