Bowe is stronger, taller and more aggressive but he seemed ill-prepared. However Evander was exceptionally determined and in high readiness both mentally & physically for the fight. His effort was a success. I guess this is one of the most exciting fights in boxing history

Wow what a great fight. One of the greatest heavyweight showdowns in boxing history. I had Evander Holyfield winning this one 116-112. Here’s how I scored it: Round 1: 10/9 Bowe Round 2: 10/9 Bowe (20-18) Round 3: 9/10 Holyfield (29-28) Round 4: 9/10 Holyfield (38-38) Round 5: 9/10 Holyfield (47-48) Round 6: 9/10 Holyfield (56-58) Round 7: 9/10 Holyfield (65-68) Round 8: 9/10 Holyfield (74-78) Round 9: 10/9 Bowe (84-87) Round 10: 9/10 Holyfield (93-97) Round 11: 9:10 Holyfield (102-107) Round 12: 10/9 Bowe (112-116)

I have a very similar scorecard! Only I had Bowe in round 7 for a final score of 115-113 Holyfield. 1, 2, 9, and 12 were clearly Bowe rounds 5, 6, 8, 10, 11 were clearly Holyfield rounds. 3 and 4 I saw Holyfield the superior boxer and that left only 7 for Bowe.

They always say Tyson's apex was the Spinks fight. And while nothing can be taken away from Mike, Spinks was a blown-up light heavyweight, terrified, and on a knee brace. Even if he wasn't, he was NEVER going to beat Tyson, he couldn't hurt him and his twig neck would never be able to stand up to that. Here, Holyfield is facing a giant champion, and his performance is just a thing of absolute beauty b/c he was bigger than his early HW days of 205-208lbs, but he could still dance all night long. IMO this version of Real Deal would've wiped out any version of Tyson in 10 rounds or less. Book it Dano.
@genghiskhan18362 жыл бұрын
Evander flipped the script on him in the 4th. Straight dogged him the entire round, kept firing viscous combos, even ignoring bell. Bowe had the momentum but Holyfield ripped it away from him. Superhuman effort by the real deal.

I always love how supremely confident Holyfield was (always) in this fight especially, and the 1st Tyson fight when he guaranteed victory. And when Jim Grey said, "That sounds like the most outrageous guarantee since Joe Namath" Holyfield, "Well, I did it in the Bowe 2 fight and I was victorious" Grey, "Little different situation tonight" Holy, "Well, the peoples are different, the situations are different...but God still the same. Yesterday and today, He still the same" LOL. Fucking awesome. And look at Holy's little dance and smug face during his ring introduction. Just classic!

1:04:47 And to think George Foreman only lifted weights for 2 fights in his (2nd) career. His natural arms are fucking huge. There's a reason that he's virtually always #1 on boxing expert's lists of the naturally strongest boxers ever. He was a physical dynamo. 1:09:17 Whilst I'm at it, think anyone could get out of that choke hold?
@kingdomofanimaria Жыл бұрын
They said heavyweights were smaller in the 70s big George in his prime would be small for the modern heavyweights thoughts? Why were they smaller back in the day
@Ididntaskforahandleyoutube Жыл бұрын
@@kingdomofanimaria, nutrition, sleep, and modern training. George isn't too small for any time period. When he retired at 27, I believe he was 235-7. He was a late bloomer. Just look how thick he was when he came back. His arms had to me 6 inches bigger and Foreman had massive arms when young. Even when he was 220-225, he's still the strongest HW of all-time. Just ask anyone in the '70s or '90s (he was obviously even more muscled during his comeback). Every single person said his physical strength was the greatest they'd ever experienced. Holyfield fought Lennox, Vitali, and that 7'2" 320lb champ and he said George was considerably stronger than all of them. He said Lewis could be pushed back at 250 relatively easily but he said if his salvation was on the line, he couldn't push George back a single inch. Wilder hit hardest at 208-212. People put too much into numbers. Fury got decked by a 192 lb Cruiserweight. George lands at full strength, Fury isn't getting up. Watch Foreman vs.Terry Anderson. Anderson could punch and he was in red alert 10 seconds into the fight. Foreman's jab was a nuke. The straight right that George unleashed is in the top couple punches ever. Anderson's brain just unattached from his spinal cord. Look at the spark out and then the pain he was in when he came to. He was down for a long time. I could give countless examples. Cheers

Masterful tactics by Holyfield. He didn't brawl too much in this fight like he did in the 1st fight with Bowe. Here he used his skills and speed, boxed more, was elusive, patient and disturbed Bowes rhythm almost the hole fight, and when Bowe didn't know what to do Holyfield let his hands go. I had this fight 116-113 for Holyfield.
@joeblough2612 жыл бұрын
@Kyle Prather As Real Deal always said, it's all about making adjustments. After that 1st fight, he realized he couldn't come in at a tiny 208lbs. It worked vs. Foreman but he was able to dance circles around George in a way he couldn't with the younger and more athletic Bowe who had such a good inside game as well. And, he didn't let Bowe's low blows and dirty tactics allow him to stray from the game plan. IMO, a fully-focused prime Holyfield who sticks to the right gameplan is as dangerous and formidable a fighter as any whoever lived. We saw it in the Douglas fight, both Tyson fights, this fight, and a handful of others where he simply wouldn't be denied, mentally, emotionally, or physically.
