I grew up going to that mall but haven’t been there in about 20 years, so watching this video was a rly unique experience for me.

Time to drive over to the Cherry Hill Mall for some high end retail…

A very underrated mall, love the ambience and how calm it is at all times of the day, not like for example Cherry Hill Mall. Yes there is much more stores and choices at Cherry Hill Mall but it is also VERY crowded there at all times of the day. This mall is a mall you can go to, shop, enjoy the ambiance, and have a pleasant time.

Brought me back to my teenage days. This mall was one of my hangouts back in the 70's. Hard to recognize the changes. It was so long ago. I do remember those ceilings, floor and fountain. Yup, meet me at the eagle. Thanks for the memories. 👍✌️

Wow, that was some fountain that you showed in the picture. My local mall did a $100 million renovation and said that they would install a fountain. They put the fountain under an escalator and the three spouts were so tiny, you couldn't even see it. They completely turned it off a year later. Malls just don't care about aesthetics anymore. I live in Minnesota and 17 would be tropical here right now. Like your commentary.

A pretty decent mall likely built in the 80’s. The design is pretty cool. The use of color is welcome. Skylights are nice. It seems to be holding on. A good volume of stores of which most of which are national. We also have a Boscov’s which does drive traffic. A few more shoppers would be nice, however this video may have been shot in the early week. Looks like a local school taking a vacant anchor space. Good. Wish the fountains were still functioning though. Also a nice mix of skylights. So management is doing all the right things in terms of keeping the mall alive. I like this mall despite its short comings.

This mall was actually built in the 60s. Strawbridge and Clothier had territorial rights to Cherry Hill Mall so Wanamaker's and Gimbel's partnered to build this mall.....Gimbel's is now Boscov's. A lot of the old fixtures and aesthetics are the same.

Thanks for your mall tours, they're great with smooth camera work. Helpful commentary too. Have you been to the Garden State Plaza near the Paramus Mall in Paramus, NJ? A giant mall, but not as big as King of Prussia.

Love your videos man! I'd love to see some of the old malls you've visited in the past and show old history of them and the stores they used to be along with pictures just like this video! For instance the former John Wanamaker stores in Reading PA and the Harrisburg East Mall , the Boscov's Greenery Restaurant, the old Hess's stores, Gimbles, Montgomery Ward, Pomeroy's etc. Also if you can find any old photos or footage of the Camp Hill mall when it was functioning as a full mall with the fountain outside of Boscov's etc that would be absolutely awesome!!!! I shopped there every weekend with my mom and grandma when I was a kid so it would be awesome to see what my childhood stomping ground used to look like! It's long time coming for a "Blast From The Past" for more malls around the country!

At least some stores are still in operation and there was some customer activity. Our local mall (here in Central Pennsylvania) is all but an empty shell with more ghosts and phantoms than real people. But, still, the Moorestown Mall is slipping away, too.

Central PA is really hurting right now unfortunately. I'm sorry for your mall. I'm sure we've been there and I can only guess which one it is, all are having major issues right now.

Just curious… what does the outside temp have to do with an indooor water feature? The fountain, piping and recirculating pumps are all inside and not exposed to the freezing outside temps. Am I not thinking of some design feature that would have the outside temp impact for a possible burst pipe?

The mall is slowly going away. They replaced the Sears with a Cooper Hospital facility. Most of the stores are closing. They are building an apartment complex in one of the parking lots and they have plans to open a larger liquor store. What will happen to the rest is unknown to me. It's a shame as I feel the owners miss handled the running of the Mall. Years ago, there were events held that would bring people into the mall. These were discontinued. When the mall first opened, there were large birdcages with lots of birds. This alone would bring people into the Mall. They actually had wild ducks that would paddle up and down the Mall via artificial streams. There were collectables sales and antique sales that would cover the whole length of the mall, that brought in thousands of people. These stopped happening years ago. The Mall turned into a shopping center, catering only to women. No one to blame but management.

This is not accurate. We were just there a month ago and it was thriving. I counted the stores and vacant storefronts and came up with 66 occupied spots and 24 vacancies. That's 73% occupancy, which is damn good in today's retail market. Hell, Moorestown Mall is doing even better than the Oxford Valley Mall, which has 68% occupancy (again, I counted). Expecting the mall to be like it was in the 1960s is unrealistic. All malls are very different now. Moorestown Mall was actually hurting MUCH worse a couple years ago. Around the time of the pandemic, occupancy was closer to 60% and just before that, maybe half full. The stores moving in are local places not national chains, but at least the spots are getting filled here and there. As far as the hospital, it's still better than having Sears sit empty and rot, that's stable rent money for the mall. Look at Exton Square Mall. They rely on mostly doctor's offices, Round 1 and Boscov's. The rest of the mall is a goner. But that reliable steady rent from the medical side keeps the mall open. Yeah, it's dead as hell, but I don't foresee it closing any time soon.

Why is it that most mall changes or improvements are never as grand as the original? Greed. Malls were getting rid of fountains when malls and commerc were at peak.

This is Moorestown, NJ. Not Morristown, NJ. That one letter makes all the difference. Morristown is very close to Short Hills indeed, but Moorestown is very close to Cherry Hill.

LOL. Short Hills is a 2 story elegant fashion mall designed by the Taubman Company to look elegant. I hope you're drunk commenting.
