I already mentioned it in the short you posted but that thing is finally 99% of what I want in a flashlight. Flat/short form factor, easily accessible strobe mode and fast enable/disable of the lockout without peforming a poem in morse code with half and full presses. The only thing that's missing from being 100%, is the ability to swap out the battery and maybe a two way clip. Until someone comes up with a light that has everything I mentioned, that one has the potential to be my last edc light until it breaks.

It is an unfortunate downside of lights like this. I'm not sure any manufacturer has been able to work around that issue just yet. I'd triple check the Nitecore website on their warantee. I'm pretty sure it's got good coverage

@@MoorlanderEDC Yeah, unfortunately you can't have a threaded endcap like with round flashlights. The only way I can think of to make it work without loosing waterproofing, is to build it like a toothbrush case (for lack of a better example) and secure it with one or two screws. Not very quick to swap batteries but at least possible without sending it in or replacing the whole light.

@@GrimnirReaper Rovyvon have a series of lights like this that have both an internal battery plus a replaceable AA battery. They use a clip/clap but ehy aren't as large or powerful as these

Nice light, but "moonlight" or "ultralow" is still missing (for me), that level is usually in the 0.5-3 lumen range, 15 lumens is quite high for lowest level. That is my only problem with these family of NC lights, other than that: very nice products, also brilliant for "defensive" purposes.
@MoorlanderEDC2 күн бұрын
It's a valid point. Moonlight or Ultralow is definitely usually lower. For me the Ultralow is my low setting

How long will it run on high before the brightness ramps down?
@MoorlanderEDCКүн бұрын
Hmmmmmm... Not 100% sure. It doesn't say in the literature on the high kick down. It's mainly due to the advanced temperature regulator in there (similar to turbo) although there isn't a graphical read out with high. My guess is there is a kick down some where however it'll depend on how quickly, and hot the light gets. I've just turned mine on and timed it for 1.5minutes and the light didn't dip. I hope this helps
@john02702 күн бұрын
Alright, now lets upgrade the water proofing! Hey is it true that you can change/pre select the brightness level without turning it on?(half press??)
@MoorlanderEDCКүн бұрын
Yes you can. If you have press whilst off, the display will show you what level you're at. The interface combined with the screen is brilliant
@john0270Күн бұрын
@MoorlanderEDC excellent, that is one thing i would appreciate vs my 2 week old edc25 😅 I am happy with the single function secondary button (turbo only/strobe only) the lockout switch is definitely a good thing.

NITECORE where is the ULTRALOW OR MOONLIGHT MODES on your new lights? You have it in the p20ix which i have and it is a bigger flashlight! these smaller lights should have moonlight!

I will never buy a nitecore light, because the Turbo(or Lumin Shield) mode is useless... Great review though 👍

I just dont understand these flat lights. Why not just use a regular 18650 flashlight with 3000mah battery? Also tail magnet is my most used edc function

Thank goodness there are thousands of “regular” ones for you to purchase.

@@hachogonzalez8649 they sit better in pockets, 18650 batteries + diameter of light body is loads. It should be pretty obvious

I think for EDC these are great. Nitecore do have plenty of lights like you're after. That 18650, tail stand/tail magnet is a very common feature set

It's definitely all of the manufacturers with similar lights need to work on. I think once that hurdle is cleared they'll be a must have if you're concerned about water 🤙

Looks a great form factor. Sadly I always want a more in the 300-500 range with an hour or more of power so this model isn’t for me
