I’ve had mine for 8 years. I’ve worn it every single day. It’s on its original battery and has had an unbelievably tough life but is only now starting to show its age. I’m just going to buy another one. Toughest watch out there I’d say. Bargain.

Hey man! Nice review thank you. Just wanted to mention that the king also has an auto back light. Push and hold the light for about five seconds to toggle this mode on and off. In dark conditions simple rotate your wrist and bingo, the back light activates with no need to push a button. I find this very useful when driving at night. Also just wanted to mention that the king was the first and maybe still the only G that has a dual layer crystal 😁😁😎 cheers man

Just bought this watch about two weeks ago and it has gone into the rotation pretty steadily. It's such a nice watch to wear, it has taken over as my daily driver along with my TAG Heuer Aqua Racer. I used to mostly wear my GGB100 but this definitely has moved to the number one spot as far as my G-Shocks are concerned. Mind you, I bought the GWGB1000 and I still haven't worn that yet because this is just such an attractive watch.

I wear a gxw 56 that I imported from Japan with the positive display (I can’t bear the negative) and silver bull bars on a nato strap. Solar, time updates itself every night, it’s just fantastic, solar never runs out, I even wear it in bed I never take it off! And of course it goes in the shower too! I wouldn’t be without it, I’d advise anyone to get a GXW 56 KING with positive display. 🇬🇧 it was £148 imported. You don’t have to pay the huge prices some are asking. I’ve checked it over and it’s genuine too. 🇬🇧

I used to love my Mudmaster, but I just can't be bothered with the press this button for this and that function modes etc. Also the digital and analogue displays just won't sync anymore and it's only two years old and cost me nearly £400! Hey FT, I'm kind of in your camp too. There's a fine balance of things you need in a watch, making them easy to use and then over flowing it with just rubbish and making it hard to work out what you're doing. Some of the Casio Square have that balance just right. I've also owned a few Suunto Core watches and they have that same perfect balance. I'm sure you've looked but I'm sure there's a few tutorials on here about how to get the analogue/digital parts to resync. Either way, thanks for commenting. Wow, I'm glad I found this channel; similar taste in G-Shocks, it seems..! Just wanted to mention, in regards to the backside of The King, I can see it's recessed somewhat, which is what is allowing the water to remain, I assume? I have purchased, for only a few dollars, these clear protective gorilla glass or similar protective films to put over the face of a couple of my watches; same thing you can get for your smart phone. Some of them are not glass, and are flexible, and some are a little thicker than others, yet still very clear. Anyway, I thought perhaps one of those, trimmed to size, and stuck on the stainless back, might solve that problem. Might need to put two on depending on the depth, but I'm sure it would work, and those films are incredibly clear, if properly trimmed, you'd never know it was there.

I'm thinking of getting one bit have noticed there are GXW-56-1AJF and GXW-56-1AER models. Do you know the difference between the 2? I like the red accents on these. If the black bronze version was still available I'd probably go for that one (Mission impossible Rogue Nation fan here😄)

As far as I'm aware buddy the AJF is the Japanese model and has the multi band 6, where as the AER version is the international model without the radio controlled time. There's lots of sites showing the wrong image for the AER version that includes the multi band. It's not very clear on some sites so I'm not sure they know either 😂

I have just started wearing it replacing the Apple Watch Ultra Series 1. The GX 56BB feels lighter than the Ultra but size wise bigger. It is a very different feeling than wearing a smartwatch which had engulfed for the last 7 odd years. Shifting to a WATCH and not just another tech feels great. On top of that @Moorlander EDC, this video helped me realize the rich legacy on my wrist.

Hi Daniel, hope you're well my friend. It's not too bad. The totally weight isn't that much more than a regular GShock. It is a wee bit top heavy however it's something you get used to. It's just the share size of this beast. If you wear long sleeved shirts you have to unbutton the left sleeve. Similarly if you have a coat with sleeve cuffs too. It's a watch that doesn't want to be covered. It's like Dirty Dancing "Nobody puts Baby in the corner" 😃

Hi there. I've not had any issues at all. The tough solar set up is very robust. I rotate my watches and it's often in my draw for a few months. I bring it out, put in the sun (or just wear it) and there's no issues. Such a great watch and a beast on your wrist :D

Hi, great review! Im considering to buy this watch but something is bothering me. I was reading that he might fog and that this is a flaw on these models. I heard this, not uncommon. probably the reason is that you have 2 layers of mineral glass and the fog appears between the two layers. don't have a source, but many ppl experienced this and i think casio will not shake off any responsibility. Have you experienced this or is it not on every watch of this series?

I'd be lying if I hadn't heard similar issues. I think there's definitely some trouble with them out in the world. Here where I am it's not overly humid. I've had this not for over two years and it's like new. I've been out adventuring in the Moorlands and showered in it multiple time. Mine's fine for me... that's not to say it's not been plane sailing for others. I'd not sure if some of these reports are in overly humid countries, areas with huge pressure differences during the day, at high altitude or have had a knock first and then an issues has arisen from that. That's much larger and easier to bang on stuff. Not sure if that helps or not buddy 🤘

It's not as loud as other GShock watches. I can still hear it though... but I don't use the alarms on my watches to wake me up in the morning. It's definitely a great watch

Fogging? Not had any issues here. I will say that it's not hot or humid here. Plus without the need to keep removing the back to change batteries, it'll reduce the chances of the seal leaking. I'll have a Google and see what people have struggled 👍

I have this model since 2017. Mine always have internal fogging despite being a G-shock and having sent for service twice. Thru some local forums, it seems like this is a common issue with more than a handful of users. Kinda disappointed with Casio and the service center as they can't resolved the issue.

Hi there, thank you for the sub. It's greatly appreciated. I did think there was a large market up when I checked. I'm guessing you're in the US, there's a little cheap that most people don't know. Because Amazon is world wide, you can buy anything from anywhere and they'll deliver it to you. I buy from the US Amazon all the time as the prices are cheaper than here in the UK. In the options, change your region to UK (or France, Germany, Spain etc... don't worry most of the time it's still in English) and it'll show you how much, plus what the postage and import taxes are. In the UK I can get anything from the US and as long as I stay below $180 (which is about £130) there's no import duty and postage is nominal. It's not illegal and Amazon are more than happy to do it. If something is wrong with the product, Amazon will return it as normal. Don't forget to spread this around to your friends. It's a great way to get stuff at reduced rates. I really hope this helps buddy. Have a great week

This watch can 100% take a kicking for sure. The only real difference is this is way bigger than the Timex. it's a beast for sure. Weight wise, not too much but it's definitely an imposing time piece on the wrist

Hi KK. The truth is it's just OK. Most negative display watches get pretty hard to read when the light starts to disappear. The work around really is the backlight. With it being solar powered I don't worry at all about using

Nice looking watch but it's way overpriced for just basic functions. ( dont care for world time much ) Here in Canada it's $190 reg and $160 on sale. I'd rather get Prg 270 which has way more functions and it's pretty much same price here. I got Dw5600 for $61 on sale which I believe is the best watch for the money value.

Hi Pat. I have to agree. I think once the community star to love and watch adopt a nickname e.g. Casio King, CasiOak etc it drives the prices up. The features on this are definitely basic. I think it's more the additional price added for the legend of the King, and bombastic appearance on your wrist 😆 I think the DW5600 is that classic Square. I have the DW5610 which is a wee but smaller. Every so often I look at the all metal versions, however there's more than my month mortgage payment. Thanks for watching my friend

Must of watched 100 KZbin videos now on the Casio king !! .I usually wear Invicta watches,so big bold beastly watches is my thing ..need a watch that can handle my powerlifting while in the gym and anything i can throw at it.. will be purchasing early next week,so I will give you my input on my purchase and experience.ive also discovered that full stainless steel chassis and bracelet they sell for it !! Which looks kinda cool,so maybe something to consider in the future 🤔.. enjoyed your video on the watch..do you still own yours?

Hey TP, now this gets my brain working. Awesome questions. The Green DW-5610SU-3ER (shown in the content here) is a great alternative. It's still super rugged and has many of the same features, just in a smaller package. There's also a lot of other colours too. I also swear by my Mudman. Hands down one of my most favoured G-Shocks. It wears really nice and it a great time keeper. It also has that perfect balance of functions too. on a little tangent, also have a look at the Timex Command series. Although I haven't had chance to test one yet, I've heard very good things about them as an alternative to a G-Shock. Hope these help. Have a cracking week 👍

Well. The only reasonable date format *obviously* is YYYY-MM-DD. Doesn't even need explaining, obviously. If you are asking nicely, I might consider users of Day-Month-Year as not entirely despicable. But Month-Day-Year is nothing but completely illogical. You might as well use Fahrenheit or inches and feet or some similar moronic and antiquated units 😜 Anyways: thanks for the review. Personally, I guess I am old-school enough to prefer analogue watches. Well. They don't have to be analogue per se. Currently I am mostly using a Garmin Fenix - but with an analogue watchface. I want to see those hands moving. For some moronic and antiquated reason, the visual representation of time simply helps me to have a better grasp of time. For me, it really makes a difference. Any recommendations for a G-shock with analogue face?

Hi Thomas. I have the Fenix 3 HR. I used to wear it all the time however found I preferred the time away from notifications and having to charge it. I highly recommend the GA-2000. There's plenty of colours, the strap is a traditional lug style strap and it's a similar size to the Fenix (maybe a wee bit smaller). It's also got just the right balance of features too rather than it being over overwhelmed. From a the clogs I read I think there's a large percentage of the US that would like to move to metric. As you know, its so much easier to understand. Have a great week

@@MoorlanderEDC Thanks for the recommendation! It's exactly those never ending disruptions and the short battery life that make me inquire into greener pastures. I am using the 5x and have to say that having full standalone topographic maps on a watch is nothing short of a game changer during longer hikes. Sure, I have to recharge daily when continuously using GPS and maps -- but that's rather to be expected of a GPS-unit. And when hiking, my phone stays turned off and tucked into the backpack anyways, so disruptive notifications aren't an issue. But as a daily driver, I'd actually prefer that single-function timepiece without constant reminders and the plethora of distractions. So I'll definitely check the ga-1000. Hi Haidar. 100% worth building. As far as GShocks go, this is the toughest of them all... plus it's got that wow factor when it's on your wrist... not to mention the tough solar. It's a great watch

Hi Carl. I thought the King here was larger however according to the GShock website the 710b is 2mm larger. I think some of the Mudmaster watches are slightly bigger too. I might check out this 710b. Thanks for watching buddy

Hi CSB. Yes, I do like that varient too. I like the colour around the display and lettering. Unfortunately the only ones available here were the all black and the red & black varient... And I wasn't a fan of the red accents. There's a really nice green version too. I may look at updating the bezel on mine. Super easy to replace. Have a great week buddy

The Casio GX-56BB-1ER is probably the watch with the worst display I have ever seen! It's hard to see the time during the day, but at dusk you can't see anything at all! Unfortunately, I bought it and I can only advise against it! The Casio G Shock 3263 GD-100 model, which I also have, shows that Casio can do better.

Hi, hope you're well. I agree to some extent. It's definitely hard to read. The height of the bezel around the display, plus the distance from the lens doesn't help to allow light in. I think that's the real struggle. Although, I think part of this watch is about it's ridiculousness 😂 I'm sure the designers may have realised it's harder to read and thought "why not add a negative display"

The display is Completely unredeable in not totally low but little lower light conditions. Completely unusable. Just a nice look and a good looking gadget with this negative display. Nothing more. And guess what: activating the backlight doesnt solve the problem

I do have to agree to a point. I think you need to looks at less like a huge GShock square... and more like a normal GShock square in a super thick case. Personally I would have preferred a large module in there to make it feel more like a huge GShock instead

We here have enough brains to use superior YMD as primary (do you write twelve as 21? No, because big thing goes first. It also can be sorted in its string representation why it is used in software)

I'm adult enough to say I'm wrong. I certainly didn't mean any offence. Anecdotally I've found from my personal experience of travelling and having international colleagues that pretty much everywhere takes the DMY format. I'm not sure comparing this to the decimal system is fair though as the Gregorian Calendar isn't metric based. I appreciate the reply though. I love to learn about this sort of stuff outside of KZbin. Do you write the date 2022 August 04th where you are in the world?
