Moose = a single creature; moose = plural (many), but most importantly, moose females are called cows and give birth to CALVES NOT CUBS. Males, especially mature ones are called bulls. 1300 pounds is normal, but we get them sometimes around 1800 pounds here in northern Canada. Apparently the Alaskan variety is regularly over 2000 lbs. Finally, even though moose and elk are both of the deer family, they are, in fact two completely separate species. In Canada, the elk are refered to as Wapiti, coming from a aboriginal term, as well as the common "elk" name. Just thought I'd throw this info out there FYI. Cheers from Alberta, Canada.

I had a close encounter with a moose in Northern BC, while out cycling. He stood dead still in the middle of the track, just looking at me. Then took off into the bush, I have no idea how he managed to negotiate his way past all the trees, there must of been some head tilting. What a magnificent animal he was.

Woodland moose will get swept back antlers as a result. As a kid in Calif. this guy had the head of a worlds' record, if the rack hadn't been so tilted back. In BC we have really large moose in places I'd never have guessed they would be: Princeton, BC ranches or in the Pemberton valley north of Whistler. The moose I was used to in Ontario you see munching water lilly in lakes or rivers edge like this video.

lived in a pipeline camp for two years as a kid, along the athabaska watershed west of Whitecourt, Alberta. The largest grizzly and the largest moose in the Alberta Game Book are largely (pun) out of this area. The colder the climate the larger the FRAME of the animal. And these guys are BIG. Lots of big moose taken right after the first snowfalls. We'd get two weeks straight of minus 60 below, where Celsius and F. don't matter: the number is the same!!

When I was young, there was a bull moose that would often visit us along the fence line. At first, we were frightened. However, after some time, we got used to his presence. We eventually learned that he was an orphan as a child and suffered from severe trauma as a result. As he got older, he turned his insecurity into a strength. He became a motivational moose speaker and frequented MAA meetings after he quit drinking. Turns out he also had a real knack for Greek literature. We showed him how to use KZbin, and he started his own ancient philosophy channel. One day he left, and we never heard from him again. I often wonder if he got mixed up with the wrong crowd again, but I know in my heart that he is orating "Homer" in moose heaven.

Moose are magnificent animals and deserve the respect that they demand. They are also a excellent food animal with slightly sweet and wild tasting meat with just one moose yealding several hundred pounds of meat. I do not believe in hunting anything for a trophy on the wall but only to provide food for my family, and the practice of killing such a awesome animal for their antlers and head should be stopped. Nothing should have to lose it's life for a head on the wall

IDK about how it is in Canada or other non-US countries where moose are found, but in Alaska...if you kill a moose, you are required by law to retrieve ALL of the meat before you can take out the "trophy" parts. And by "all," I mean "all." If you leave more than a couple hands-full of meat on a moose carcass, the Alaska Fish and Game department will make you regret it. I will happily take home my "trophy" and pay my taxidermist an exorbitant fee to do what he does, but the real trophy is the meat. I don't know any hunters for whom this isn't the case.

No. There are several big game species. From caribou in alaska as well as moose. Then the roosevelt elk and mule deer as well as the eastern whitetail deer and a western whitetail derr that can grow almost twice the size of the eastern variety. Almost all of them have antlers on the males who are referred to as buck deer and they shed antlers every year. Cattle do not lose thier horns annually thats the difference between horns and antlers. Antlers in moose caribou elk and deer are shed each year in cattle both sexes are capable of growing horns. Although a lot of farmers and ranchers have developed a strain without horns . Known in the cattle breeding industey as being Polled cattle theyve bred the cattle to not have horns so cattle can have horns in either sex. In the moose, elk, caribou and deer only the males have antlers and not horns. It can get confusing to the novice but just remember that wild animals have antlers and domestic cattle have horns. Its actually easy to study once one knows what theyre looking at. Many years ago i was stationed at Ft Richardson alaska for a year and one day a crowd was gathering in the post housingvarea and i found out a bull moose had wandered into the housing area. When this cocky military policeman with a new york accent said hed get the moose started down the street. He walked up to about ten feet besides the moose. He threw his arms up and hollered a hyaa at the moose. About his third try to " scare" the moose away. The moose dropped its head and took about two steps and hooked the mp in the legs and tossed the poor guy about 15 feet in the air completely over his patrol car and he did it so fast the guy actually had a broken leg and im sure a lot more injuries that i never found out but that 7 foot bull moose did it so effortl I and so fast that it surprised everyone watching. So never underestimate the power of a bull moose!

It sounds like this video wants to make the moose the villain? I am Canadian and know the moose very well, and it is more of a good creature that just wants to be left alone .

Brace yourself ! The “ moose have antlers not horns “ comments are coming . WHO CARES ! Yes we get it …you’re a foremost expert knowing that moose have antlers that shed every year ,,and not horns that stay with the animal for life . Thanks for filling us in on this mystery ! Great video . Ignore the peanut gallery

❤ I always love seeing Baby Animals. I love the moose and Rocky the flying squirrearl. Yeah, I remember boo boo the Bear and Bigfoot Yup if you can get pictures of Bigfoot and their authentic people would watch your channel a lot more. I don't know why interesting but it does and also interests me. I think I heard one when we were kids we were playing in the woods behind my house and the ground shook and felt like footprints. My little brother said the elephant's coming. I said it's a big giant and it's coming and my brother Wayne said it's a tree that fell and hit the ground and there's nothing coming. Well, why are we running? It was funny he said it wouldn't nothing but a tree fell. But his axxs was running out of the woods too😅😅

Moose in forested areas may be monogamous, although very likely, with a different mate each year. Moose in open tundra tend to form harems with bulls competing for as many cows as he can control. Also, a person that has a cabin on the lake in the video of the wolf attacking the moose in the water reported that the wolf later returned with it's mate and together they swam to an island the moose had retreated to, and were able to kill it.

Bears have 2 unicorns, they don't have coral reefs attached to their head!! I'm currently building an updated AC-130 Gunship utilizing GPS and laser-guided GRIZZ-B. super bomber. Capable of dropping an angry grizzly upon the enemy's head WITH PINPOINT accuracy and a 97.2% success rate. With current technology THE reload OF GRIZ-B CARTRIDGES IS STILL cumbersome.

I watched a crime program about a man who was wrongfully accused of killing his wife, he did two years before they decided to look into DNA on her wounds. They accused him of driving his riding lawnmower back and forth over her body, turns out he was cutting the grass while his wife went for her daily walk in the woods, she was killed by a moose, he did so much damage with his feet that they assumed he drove over her multiple times with the mower.
