Garberg knives grows on you the more you use them in real-live. I like the stainless one, besides sharpening its maintanance-free. I used cold bleu on it to make it all black instead of shiny stainless. Edge-retention is how you think of it. Supersteels are harder to sharpen in the field. I think they are over-rated and costly. Nice video!

i have never been a fan of CPM-154, if you are getting a knife for me there ar 4 options Z-Wear, CPM-3V, M390, or Elmax. also for those who are in to survival get a plasma lighter. it doesnt run on fuel, it battery powered can recharge with a USB mini (solar panel will charge it in 30mins), is windproof, 1000's of times hotter than a lighter, they come in a water proof container, they have a LED light. n they go for under 20 bucks the better ones a little more.

The problem with plasma lighters tends to be that the heated area is very small, you literally have to stick whatever you are lighting between the small space of the contacts. The problem with batteries is that they tend to not like cold.
@martinerhard84472 жыл бұрын
no thanks...batteries and cold dont get along well and thats where i want a fire they kinda suck at lighting up stuff compared to a lighter. no point in being windproof when the fire you want to light isnt. a bic can be submerged in water for months and still work (yes happened to me)... for the weight of one of those you can take multiple lighters

One of your best Guys!!! --- I am stoked to see you making demonstrations and reviews in the snow and cold. It goes back to the days I had encouraged DBK boys to come join me on a remote destination rafting and fishing trip in Spring, Summer, Fall or snowmachine/snowmobile venture during wintertime here in Alaska. This winter has brought cold conditions to your homeland and great opportunity settings for your recent videos. On your edge-retention paper-cutting after fire-making... the result comparison was relatively expected for steel selections, task, and general purpose. The rope cutting result same expectations. Some overall clues however!!! I'll say the MORA Garberg (that looked to be Carbon version) likely started out with a better edge, while the CPM-154 retained the not quite as good starting edge a bit better. In the end-game, there would be no practical cutting advantage. I'd give the MORA the toughness advantage and field tuning sharpening ease. Spine is exceptional ferrocerium rod scraper. The only thing I'd give the CPM-154 high cards for (frankly not enough on this particular outing) would be wanting stainless steel concerning corrosion resistance. GARBERG is the more optimized and reliable design.
