Mordhau Crossbow Gameplay and General Archery Tips

If you target people who are on the way to the fight, hitting them is still worth it. An arrow is usually enough to give people a risk of going out with one hit in their melee, so they are forced to go in weakened, stop sprinting to regain health, find some cover, or chase after you. They Either get to the battle weakened because sprinting, or you manage to get a few guys out of the group, giving your team a numerical advantage.

You gonna love Castello, it's archer's dream map. Also with the new point system, you can probably make a hybrid CB build that has a secondary weapon.

Oh I've already grabbed the cleaver =] And I love Castello. It has a bit of optimization to go, it runs rough at times, but it's a really fun map with lots of good chokepoints! I didn't think they could top Fetoria, but they did! And the internal portions of Mountain Peak are sooo good!

Use pavise shield w/ crossbow, you can place it down while you reload to not get shot, and you can also just keep it unequipped, turn around and reload. Arrows won't go through the pavise shield if unequipped.

That last idea is good, about turning around. I usually don't like the pavise shield for the crossbow because I played Longbow for so long that when I'd see a crossbow guy do that, I'd time my shot to come in and hit him right where he'd stand back up, so it was basically useless for them.

Enjoyed the video 😊 not sure if you're aware but you can turn the chat off in the options if you're worried about what people are saying Also - have you ever played archers with a friend whilst voiping and named your targets? You can really do some damage that way

Oh yeah, honestly I'm always always playing with my friends. The only time I play without them is for these videos, for the most part. haha And for the chat, I do like having it on while I'm playing because it lets me see if anyone is trying to be organized/keeps me aware of issues related to vote kicking. =] Thanks for watching!

Just a quick question. How do you manage to judge the travel time of a shot, and how do you know if you’ll hit when someone is moving? That’s the part I have troubles with for all the ranged weapons in mordhau. Also, the enemy archers probably had the huntsman perk, meaning they do more damage to the head and chest of another archer/crossbowman so armor’s not really a concern for the most part

So the reason I had armor on was to negate the extra damage a huntsman shot would do. That one archer likely hit me in the head, which triggered the headshot damage multiplier as well as the huntsman perk bonus dmg. After a few shots, I get a feel of how fast the bolt was flying. You just try and take shots at the same distance to get a feeling of the timing. I've used the longbow for so long that I can just adjust my aim as needed. Same for the big balistas.

@@EpicBrew FYI, a longbow or crossbow with Huntsman will one shot you in the chest or head even if you're wearing T3. Always. Only a recurve bow will not one shot another archer as long as you're wearing T1 chest or higher. So wearing heavier armor is only helpful for melee protection.

If you want to get better at leading headshots you need to remove crosshairs. Relying on crosshairs makes your aim choppy

aim, shoot, reload, aim, shoot, reload, aim, shoot - wow you just killed someone. In the meantime, someone proficient with melee weapon just did a triple kill. Dedicated ranged weapons are a chore to play as and to play against. The only use they have is preventing best players from totally dominating the battlefield, since it's extremely hard to dodge/block arrows while in a melee fight. And maybe taking out ballista nests, that's it. Dedicated shitter class.

I point out in a few videos how archers can be more of an asset to their team and not just sit in the back of everything and shoot blindly. It doesn't seem like many people care to learn how to improve though. lol

@@CarlosEduardo-yh7gg I have nothing against ballistas. They're easy to counter with one lucky throwable and can't run away to "5sec to suicide" zones unlike cowardly archers.

Farming these types of comments is exactly why playing ranged is SO much fun. Ending some self-proclaimed pro sperg's messer killstreak with a single shot is just wonderful. Gotta love the absolute SEETHING that happens every single time.
