More 6-71 Blower Talk

I found a v series blower at the junk yard here in Arizona 5 years back i pulled it out of an old GMC bus it has the 2 side mounts its been sitting in my storage shed don't think ill ever do anything with it

Thank you great info. I have a new 6V71 Blower and I need a adapter plate. I can't make one until I get by drive belt and pulley's so I can line up the blower to my HEMI HOT HEADS manifold. I would rather buy one already built. I am running a 392 1957 HEMI .5 stroke 20 over it will be about 440 when done.

What crank damper setup did you run on the sbf? Id like to avoid running an expensive balancer/pulley setup. Im planning on low boost 6-8psi

Picked up a 6v71 off an old kohring excavator. Need to convert to gas. Plan on runnin it in my fe390. U know where i can get the adapter plate?

This looks like it on Ebay www.ebay.com/itm/185186959440?hash=item2b1e00c050:g:hDQAAOSwK4Jhz3vn Jeg's shows the FE blower intake but it's out of stock . www.jegs.com/i/Speedmaster/746/1-149-001/10002/-1 If you can find the intake I think a guy could fabricate the adapter plate for the v series type blower . Jegs shows a similar plate but it's for twin carbs so the holes wont be correct for the blower . www.jegs.com/i/Speedmaster/746/PCE149.1008/10002/-1 Do you already have the FE blower intake ?

did you ever get any progress done on this? I would love to throw an old detroit blower on my 390fe as well. 'Course I already rebuilt it to high compression, so boosting it might get tricky unless I throw dished pistons back in it.

Does the 6v92 share the same front bolt pattern as a 6v71 or 671?

No , completely different blower .

What covers will fit the blower ?? Trying to figure out what cover to use for snout /belt drive.. going on a 351w

@@hedgepethracing9590 That's a good question ? I've never seen a 92 series used on a gas engine . Seen 6v71 's used , the v71 blower is different from the in line 71 . Both will work . I would give " Blower Drive Service " a call in the morning , they will know . 1-562-693-4302

I picked up a dozen or more v8,and v6 - 92 actually they are about 1 1/2" shorter than the 71 series 6 or 8 but there was a turbo blowing into them,so able to feed a bigger motor. The hold down arrangement leaves something to be desired, but they are cheap, different, but gears ,bearings ,ect interchangeable. Strange that nobody cast a manifold, they would sell. The adapter plate does allow for design in front to back shift in placement.

That's a good point and question about they never cast a manifold for the V type blowers ? We got a spare 8 - V 71 on the shelf that's thinking about ventilating a Ford 460 engine .
