@Accuracy1st I am working with my tikka at the moment it has a generous throat and seems to like the 208 eldm at 3.00. When I rebarrell I'm thinking 215berger or 230 atip at 3.25. What bullets and freebore are you using?
@Accuracy1stАй бұрын
@@13bibby13 I also modified a Tikka T3x 300WSM. What I did was make a dummy round with a 210 Berger VLD seated such that the bullet shank/boat tail junction was just above the case neck/shoulder junction, told JGS to open up the chamber body 0.002 and make it so that my dummy round is 10 thousandths off the lands. I'd have to review the reamer print to give exact dimensions but you can picture what I went for. Then I bought two Brux 4 groove barrels, one 9 twist, one 10 twist and just got the latter back from the gunsmith. Hope to test these this month with 210 BVLD, 190 ABLR, 180 Norma Bondstrike, 190 Speer Impact, 175 Barnes LRX. I also have 2 K&P 4 groove 8 twist on hand but with the bullet weights I'm shooting I don't need anything faster than 12 twist which will stabilize all of the above. Last test with 210 BVLD I'm at 2840fps with Reloder 22 in a 24" barrel
@13bibby13Ай бұрын
@Accuracy1st wow thanks for the info what was the body opening for? I have some dummy rounds loaded with the 208eldm at the moment going to get my hands on the 230s i think and maybe get the reamer for this bullet. Just don't know if it's worth it to move up that big if I'll end up in the 200-215 range. My factory barrell, like those 208s, I'm getting 2800 in a 22 with 4350 and great accuracy think its a 1-11.
@Accuracy1stАй бұрын
@@13bibby13 Body opened up 0.002 to follow the Alex Wheeler PRC modification so as to obviate early pressure signs/clickers. Yes, I think all Tikka 300WSMs come with 11 twist. Too many people are jumping on the fast twist bandwagon, myself included, but the slowest twist that will stabilize your bullet is the most accurate - generally speaking. But I agree with it. My gunsmith used his 300WSM for hunting for years with a 190 grain bullet. His barrel was a 13 twist. Thus, I've divorced myself from the fast twist craze as it does reduce velocity. Maybe not by much but it does.

Another video on can't put the round in the magazine and cycle it. Ya'll need to understand he's always hand feeding the rounds because they won't fit in the magazine. Yes, he's a great gun barrel chamber and fitting the action gunsmith. But you aren't going to put these handloaded longer rounds in a factory magazine. Notice he said built properly and set up properly on the 7mag beating the 7PRC. The 7PRC is already set up for longer rounds from the factory. The 7mag isn't, and you're going to have to get a faster twist rate barrel for most factory 7mag guns. The 7mag already has more powder velocity so it should beat the 7PRC. But I can shoot a 7PRC more accurately straight from the factory all day especially with handloaded ammo !!

So in the first 3 minutes of your vid you shoot a small group so to speak. Your extreme spread is 73 fps. This may hold at 100 yards. But most likely not at 1k. I own and have seen many rifles group at 100 yards and not shoot all that well at distance. the Saterlee test is fine for a node for speed. It also shows where a rifle may shoot well. However just because a rifle will hold a node doesn't guarantee it will shoot well. Your building magnums that should shoot well at distance. I'm not convinced your guns will perform. Please explain?
