More airlines requiring larger pets to fly as cargo

If you own a big dog and you want it to travel with you, you used to be able to go to the ticket counter, put him in his crate, and check him onto the same flight you were flying on. Now, most of the major carriers are moving towards transporting pets as cargo, which has pet owners checking in a good distance from the terminal. Kris Van Cleave reports.

In all these years, it’s hard to believe at least one airline has not modified their cabin space to comply with pet capacity. It’s difficult to fit the smallest dog carrier under the seat, without folding it down a bit!

With all the money that airlines charge they should have flights or people can take their pets they are not cargo I've seen some horrific things injuries deaths lost pets as they said in the video These Airlines if they're going to charge that much money if they better start stepping up and doing the right thing they should be allowed to take their dogs their family basically with them not in a cargo area

If you pass your pet as a service dog your committing a felony. They are pets their medical equipment. Pay the price for the seat or pay a massive bail bond for illegally passing your pet off as a service dog. That’s how emotional support animals lost their ability. Because people like you are too entitled to do the right thing. Y’all won’t destroy service dogs chance because they are protected when they are trained.

Omg leave your pets at home or at a local pet resort. I am an animal lover so I understand that the person doesn't want to be without their pet, but the pet is safer and happier staying home. Can you imagine how scary that ride is for the pet? Noisy, smelly scary ride.

it's worth spending $150 and getting your cat or dog certified as a emotional therapy pet. Then they can ride in the cabin. no place for a pet in cargo. temperatures vary from extreme hot to cold in cargo. It's inhumane to put them there.

there is no legal certification for emotional support dogs. you can buy a fake vest and papers online, and lie about it. as someone who uses a real service dog (I'm deaf) that has been trained since he was a puppy to be a working dog, doing that kind of thing is extremely disrespectful to dogs that have worked hard for their vest. not to mention that if your dog misbehaves in any way it makes those of us who really need a service dog look bad. I understand you wanting your pet to be safe, but please don't buy fake vests. and if you do, at least make sure your dog is extremely well trained.

A person should be allowed to buy an extra seat on the plane for a pet. No free bee, even service animal. I have to pay for a seat for each member in my party. I dont want to sit next to an animal that may pee or poop on a five hour flight.The claim of having service animals has gotten out of control. Peacocks, pigs, etc. Its time to put an end to the nonsense. Honest people are always being penalized because stupid, greedy people.

Pet owners abusing the system?Sure are,fake service animals a growing problem.Not just the airlines @ least I can choose to no longer fly and I no longer do.But stores & restaurants is a growing problem too.If a business is advertised as pet friendly I don't go to those either.Figure if I stop spending my money @ those common sense will return and they'll clamp down once again.

@@axelfoley1406 , I’ve been flying for nearly 40 years without incident. If it’s bad enough with other humans, it certainly won’t be better with dogs. ALL ANIMALS should be kept in a carrier under the seat or in cargo hold. Period.
