Wow Connie. Kudos to u. Every possibility has been tried and tested. I wonder how they would perform with solvents or glycerine … even blenders like Copic or Derwent. I’m curious but I think u r most curious of all 😊 Well done and it def a double thumbs up from me. 👍👍

I didn't try them with other solvents - darn it! :) If you try, let me know how they work out! I'll definitely try - maybe I'll record a short segment for a Colouring Odds & Ends segment. Thank you so much for the idea!!

I was so disappointed to hear that you got dislikes to your last video. I hope that they at least told you why and I hope it does not impact your feelings about making videos. All of you YT colorist are so courageous to get on camera and do your thing. I appreciate what you all do and I get so much out of it! You are in the handful of my very favorites coloring channel (and I think in many other people's top favorites as well). I love the experimentation, the honest discussion, and how you present yourself - and hurray for long chatty videos!!! I find myself searching for videos of yours where there is something I want to be reminded of (solvents, how to make fireflies, coloring metal with FC Pitt, etc.) more than any other channels. Please keep being you. You are terrific as is your content!! Thank you for sharing what you have learned on your journey with us. ❤

Thank you for all the further experimentation with the tempera paint sticks. I am the one that mentioned the M&G thinner sticks and I too believe they are just regular gel crayons unfortunately. I also have a set of pastel “Pigment Pens” from We R Makers though and those seem to be true tempera paints and are just slightly easier to get into tighter places than the thick sticks. Trying to decide if I “need” the other colors too!
@colouringchemist
@colouringchemist Ай бұрын
I've already returned the M&G ones - they didn't perform like the other tempera paint sticks which is what I was looking for. :) I ordered a set of thin tempera paint sticks made by KingArt so I'm hopeful that those will be more what I'm looking for! And the We R Makers sticks look interesting - putting those on my list. :) Thanks for all the info!

I wonder if the Tempera paints work in the same way, therefore could be brushed on using a detail brush? Great video.
@colouringchemist
@colouringchemist Ай бұрын
Do you mean dry-brushing on tempera paints? I think tempera paint is meant to dry very quickly so dry-brushing on any kind of tempera paint may not work very well. If you use a wet brush, you get a very dilute wash of colour which you could certainly do with a small, detail brush. Glad you liked the video! :)

Interesting entertaining video -though I’m not sure Caran D’ache would be happy about you calling their Neocolor I Wax Pastels “just crayons”! 😂
@colouringchemist

Eep - that's true! :) Hopefully, Caran D'Ache will forgive me - I was only wanting to clarify that they were wax-based pigment sticks. :) Glad you liked the video!

Speaking of how the backgrounds look smoother on camera, I think that may be why I struggle so much with white pen. In person it never meets my satisfaction, even though I've watched so many videos on tips and application, and tried so many different suggested pens. I think I'm just seeing it up close and personal under natural light.
@colouringchemist
@colouringchemist Ай бұрын
I think that's a valid point. I know if I look at my pages on one of my videos, everything always looks much better than it does to me in person. :)

Are these different than gel sticks? They seem so similar.
@colouringchemist
@colouringchemist Ай бұрын
They are different. :) They dry on the page much, much faster which makes them almost impossible to blend on a colouring page. You also can't really pick them up off a palette and do a dry brushing technique like you can with gel crayons - they just dry too quickly. But you can still get some neat effects from them! :)
