I think the NWR will have needed a Class 08 (or more than one) of their own. I think if Tidmouth got one in 1967 when Duck took up the Arlesburgh branch it would have been D3193, the first withdrawn.

Although Murdoch is a Scottish name, no 9Fs were ever allocated to the Scottish Region. He could be any 9F apart from the 6 preserved examples or the 10 Franco-Crosti boiler locomotives. I imagine him arriving on Sodor between 1964 & 1968 when BR withdrew the 9F class.

My friend’s head canon for Emily in the context of the RWS was that the one we know is instead called Victoria and painted blue like the Scottish twins. The real Emily is actually from the mainland and pretty much unchanged from her tv series equivalent
