For an easy way to get scales, and serpent trophies for bait, you can throw a bunch of puffer fish on the deck of a large ship, and then park it next to a serpent, it doesn't take long for the puffers to kill him, since he's so big, they pretty much hit him every time he swims near the boat. Jump onto his head right before he dies, and when he explodes, you'll grab everything before it sinks.

You can also use ooze bombs in the infested mines. The cloud travels through walls and poisons everything on the other side. Ooze bombs also don't break the vines that block the doorways.

Raising land around your base... Creating a moat around your base... Setting fire pits everywhere (which you can also use to kill dverger and bugs), NPC fights to clear things out, Falling trees but leaving the logs laying around or moving them to strategic locations to slow down invasions, Black marble walls around the base and refined eitr surrounding your base for base defense or put the refined eitr in your moat or other side of your land wall, puffer fish defenses, creatures can't cross stone piles and wont attack them either so you can surround your base with a rock wall.

If anyone has any issue pronouncing Dvergr, position your mouth for a v, then say the d followed by the v, the e is said like the ai in air. So probably easiest to see it as Dv-air-gr. There's some extra stuff to learn about r's on the ends of norse words, as well as where they came from as z's in old norse, but that's a bit too much to explain here. I'd suggest you take a look, it will help a lot with pronouncing many of the words in the game. Eikthyr, draugr, dvergr, Vegvisir, all of them. The language rules of old norse aren't far off from english so it should be fairly easy to understand pronunciation when you start looking into it.

In Mines, if you butt yourself right up against the vined or wooden barricaded doorways, try using ooze bombs - the effect go through the doors and poison whatever's on the other side. Note, though, that you get diminishing returns from this.

Puffer fish are great for getting your 1st extractor without having to fight. Yes, you have to progress through the fishing, but that only means catching 1 fish from each of the preceding biomes to get to the Misty bait. Also puffer fish spawn all over the place, not just Mistlands, and they are very easy to spot. I caught my first few in the ocean just off my start island - absolutely nowhere near any Mistlands. You only need 1 as you can push the dvergr into it. On my latest seed I've captured a dock and a tower completely intact using only puffers.

This is amazing. I used cooking racks to temporarily hold skeletons in a dungeon and to designate areas that hold no more interest, but this takes it to a new level... Bonefarm and training in one go! What other weapons if any avoid damaging the signs? Regarding the dwarfs - could you not just pickaxe a hole and shove them inside? And cover it with some marble...

Your armorrating effects your elemental resistances, thats why you take less poison damage from the pufferfish than the dverger does. Do it naked and you will get the same damage numbers. Awesome video just like the last one on the topic :)

Speaking of puffer fish, I've been saving like 6 stacks of them so i can hide them under floorboards for when my friends come over. Haven't tested it yet. I've also caught a lvl 5 puffer. It's about 5 ft wide

Love the video, but can’t help chuckling when I hear ya call the dwarves “d’vurjur”. Dvergr is pronounced closer to the D&D Duergar (the v is more a w, and the e is pronounced “eh”, with a hard g, albeit in old norse it would have been more like the greek gamma, which was pronounced more like hyamma, which is why the g was dropped in exchange for the somewhat breathy sounding f in the modern word Dwarf). Still, great video, looking forward to more as we get closer to ashlands and the intermediary clothes update!

You can get chunks of earth, especially a resource node to completely float. Tried to dig under one to collapse and found this out. So you can dig under copper and wipe out everything under but still have a floating section. You could build a small base on this and cheese mechanics during raids. It has to do with the game reading everything in the surrounding areas and thinking it's attached as it uses a block mechanic. So trees even a few meters away still seem attached and will give it support.

They tend to run out of the longship and start swimming back to their spawn point, so I don't think that's a viable option, as even if you manage to get them to your base you'll have to trap them to prevent escape

So you get a A+ for effort, how ever not being a streamer for this game and being a true gamer i learned this like the first week of the Beta. once the ward is broken you then place a work bench outside the walls with a Stone cutter! then you just start Demoing the Black Marble and you collect it all with out having to fight them!

Firespark! Just because you asked: I did find a mechanic that really helps with most combat situations. Make four or five fully upgraded spears of whatever material or quality you're currently able to. Set them to hotbar in a sequence, I use 3-7, and then you can just stand in one spot and hit 3, click, 4, click, 5, click and so on, throwing the spears in succession. Basically the reason this is neat is because throwing a spear seems to do extra damage, most things like trolls and such are more susceptible to pierce damage, and these damages are so high and throwing is so fast. For example, bronze spear fully upgraded hits around 120 to 200+ damage on a troll, especially if staggered, and even just two bronze spears at low spear skill thrown at a troll is like half its health gone. I only say this because I use it and it works so amazing, and I've never seen anyone else do this. I think people don't want to carry spears, or are afraid to lose them, but carrying five bronze spears=7.5 lbs total (less than one of other weapons) and yes spears are definitely meant to be thrown--multiples make it just a complete jump/surprise thrashing of mobs like trolls and ulvs and fulings and lox. Probably mistlands creatures as well, esp with maybe black metal spears but I haven't gotten that far yet. Throwing two or more upgraded spears in a row is broken OP. You should really do a video on this because I think you might be a bit surprised if you haven't been trying this. Thanks for the helpful vids!

BTW, I have never lost a spear after months of using 4-5 on every journey in all but mistlands so, they make little stars like any other dropped item, they just take up a few slots but are very lightweight. I've been on a playthrough for a month, in the mountains at the moment, and I've only had four deaths. My combat reaction skills and stuff are really poor and last playthrough was probably close to a hundred deaths. I just throw a bunch of spears now at every opportunity.

Anyone have low/no spawn rates of Sea Serpents? I have seen 1 in over 100+ hours and the ENTIRE NE part of the world discovered and scouted. I have spent probably 20 hours sailing the oceans looking for them explicitly!

serpents have a higher spawn rate at night and while a storm occurs. I found many of them sailing out specifically at night to hunt them

@@MrEarlofRochester It's not just higher spawn, but required. Serpents can only spawn if it's raining, or night out. And a full-tile square of ocean. You get double chance for having both a raging storm, and night. Each factor gives a 5% chance. So 10%/ocean tile as long as you've not been there for 20 minutes. Those that have triggered by the night spawner will disappear the moment the sun comes up.

@@NbKXStorm I've had serpents spawn during sunny days. It's not often, but it does happen. The "...can only spawn..." part of your statement isn't true. They MOSTLY spawn at night during storms, but not "ONLY".

Don't go full-speed in a boat, as you can pass right over a serpent spawner and by the time the serpent makes it to the surface, you are long-gone and it de-spawns.

@@Firespark81 not not the Saving part, it does randomly. i've never had this issue BEFORE the Mistlands Update, now it suddenly drops without warning down to 1fps randomly, and it lasts for about a second. but its random, it could happen any time of the in-game day. its just weird and annoying

It happens every 10min because of garbage collector that unloads assets at those times. That stutter was there since beginning, but only started lasting longer after Mistlands update. Devs are aware of it, so it's probably going to be fixed soon.

This video has no mob farm in it so I am confused why you decided to post that on this video specifically. However certain farms are needed for the health of serves. Cutting down huge forests and terraforming land to get stone and wood causes constant amounts of lag to the server. Making these regions sometimes unable to be entered due to frame drops. Many improvements have been done but the issue is not fully fixed. So using greydwarf farms save servers

As much as I love valheim, I've ran into the game shark problem. Devcommands /fly /nocost have kinda ruined my game (self inflicted i know) but it real hard to not cheat when mistlands is more frustrating than difficult.

Worry not... you are a viking god grown tired of playing alone... you need some dedicated server action where you can't easily fix everything... Once you experience doing things without using commands you will feel how much more fun it is... but you'll need some other people to play with... other people make the game more interesting

I dislike the terms "broken" and "cheese." Is exploiting game mechanics thoughtfully cheating? Everything in the game is game mechanics. Even mano a mano mele fighting is game mechanics. If you don't want to use something or don't find it fun, then don't use it. Not everybody has been playing these sorts of video games since infancy and people have different skill levels. I personally find dodge-rolling pretty "broken" and "cheesy," but I'd use it in a pinch if I could get the coordination down... ;-)

It's not that busted...but very powerfull...Shield blocking. Time your shield block right will stagger enemies, making them easier to hit. Even a Troll attack can be stagger by something as simple as a bronze buckler. Only the regular attacks...not the ground smash attacks.

I do this since we don't kill Dwarves in our game, but we needed 2 sap collectors. I say I did this but it just happened on accident because balloon boy always attacks and is so common to spawn everywhere

You can get a HD texture mod if that's what your problem is. The vid above isn't even using that, it's what it looks like at 1080p with a modern card. By modern, I mean I used to have a gtx970 that played it fine.
