I did a video last year for a well known Weld ing channel on KZbin on welding copper, where I used Romex and also de oxidized copper filler.....the Romex was far superior in my opinion.....no porosity or sludge floating in the weld pool....also showing the use of added helium to the mix for added heat, and that really helped wet the weld pool out..... thanks for a great video, Paul 'Paulie' Brown

really enjoyed the spot weld tests.......would recessing electrode behind edge of cup help at all.....I use a Synchrowave 250 at the shop and also a Dynasty 200 DX and Dynasty 280 DX.....most of the spot welding I have done is with MIG.....on 16 gauge steel.....welding through overlapped parts, I did do some aluminum recently and it was much harder, adding panels to a vintage Land Rover ...the aluminum needed very clean material.....

Indeed - recessing the electrode a bit does help a lot. Thanks for your interest and feedback on the videos @ypaulbrown.

Have you considered using AC with a minimal electrode + [5-10%] to get some cleaning action......I have found it is helpful on welding bronze and brass......hope this may inspire and help, Paul

Thanks for the idea, we will keep experimenting.

Do you think I could oxy-acetylene weld copper?

I haven't tried that, maybe others can offer feedback.
