My mother met Jacob Young and was so taken by his work she ordered, for me, four videos: The Dancing Outlaw, Jesco goes to Hollywood (where I took an immediate dislike to Roseanne and those Zappa boys; unfair), The Amazing Delores (who is as eccentric as Jesco), and Appalachian Junkumentary. KZbin has a wealth of outtakes that I love, showing extended clips of Delray's dancing. My mother particularly liked the remark about his talent, "He knowed 52 more steps than any other tap dancer." The clip in the movie of D-Ray dancing to the banjo has a somewhat compelling drive to it. D-Ray White, "Gone but not forgotten. Great fun. I'm glad to find it here...I don't have to get up.

I know what it means to have your family torn apart after a tragedy. When I was 19 in 1978, my 25 year old sister hit a tractor trailer in a head-on collision. She wasn’t intoxicated, but it was her fault. She left behind a husband as well as a 3 and 7 year old. The 3 year old does not remember her mom. The 7 year old is in his late 40s and has anger issues. The whole family was shocked beyond belief. I can’t imagine what your tragedy did to your family, Jesco. My mom was never the same after that and it took me at least 10 years to settle it in my mind. If I ever visit West Virginia I would love to meet you and your family. God bless you and your family, brother Jesco. Here’s a Subscribe and a Like.

Sad Dee Ray White’s life was cut short:( A good talented man lost his life for nothing, not right that some Trash evil dope head killed our famous mountain Dancer:( & our great court System gives the murder a slap on the wrist & more less set the killer murder free, who deserved life in prison over killing the most Famous Mountain Dancer of all time, Dee Ray White…. who will never be forgotten , at least not in the Appalachian….

Jesco, at this period, was one of the most handsome men I’ve ever seen. (I’m a married man and I have no problem saying that because it’s the truth). That being said, and no offense intended, but this man and Norma Jean just doesn’t make sense. Hell, maybe he just loved her, but it still doesn’t add up.
