They had a really DOPE idea for a classic competitive shooter game : Team combos with elements/ Skill oriented gameplay (specifically with the ice gauntlet) / really good movement options as a 3rd person shooter / really strong PVE potential. And they decided to make it a battle royale which is the worst game mode for spellbreak. Why ? Just think a minute. Team combos with elements

Honestly, I wouldn’t really call Fall Guys “dead”. It’s definitely not in the spotlight anymore, but I and many people I know still play it. It’s a fun brain-off game, and even if it’s not where it was before, 10,000 players on average is not what I would call dead. The game still has a playerbase.

I loved it and got really good at it. Me and my friends thought it was gonna be the next big game but with literally no updates and the matches becoming filled with bots because it couldn't find players. The game got stale and super super unsatisfactory when I'm not doing anything but fighting AI. Same reason I quite fortnite at a point

I’d like to consider dead games as games that you can barely find matches in and that have a very small player base. Fall Guys and Rogue Company are still updates frequently and has tons of players returning every day

@@itzhamison1591 How fast you find a game is pretty dependent on the server you play on. I play on the EU servers, and I always find a game within 30 seconds in most modes. I personally don’t think Rogue Company is dead. It’s just not that popular, and I think that’s mainly because Hi-Rez don’t promote it enough. Rouge Company has a lot of potential imo, the developers just need to make the right decisions. If they don’t, the game will die. I hope not, because I do love the game.

I feel like spell break would really benefit with a reboot, maybe having a story based setting or maybe a wave fight set up. That could get you into the mechanics of the game so you understand the basics against A.I. and then you can play on a pvp setting after getting the hang of it. But I loved the art style and feel of the game, just Earth always was used and it was just imbalanced with no incentive to change up play style. On numerous occasions I thought of going back to it, with now that not being a case at all, but the one thing that turned me away was that if I was going to play. I couldnt do it casually.

Legitimately some of the best times I had gaming were on spellbreak :/ such satisfying combat, tons of potential for flashy kills, high skill ceiling allowed for crazy outplays. So sad where it’s at now. The only reason I stopped playing is because I would search 30+ min without finding a match. Just lack of updates and pushing away the core player base really did it in

They are all different though, you can't define a dead game... well a dead game if there are players willing to stand up for it, unless the fact is evident that the game hasn't been doing so good in terms of always having something to do, like the original Gears of War, and the 'line' of super popular games... I don't even know what that points out. Like macro said, the games you speak of "Diehard Fanbase" have longevity, and have at least sustained for a 'couple' of years while games like these don't have it.

Yeah RoCo has a steady player base. I think what's throwing Macro off is the high skill ceiling. He's used to games like Apex and as a result he find rogue too difficult and "clunky" when in actuality combat flows once you master it.

The term "dead game" should be reserved for actual dead games like Lawbreakers, Battleborne, and stuff like that. 😅 These games are still alive due to the fact they have there dedicated playerbase albeit a lower playerbase. Although I agree I don't think these games will ever come back into the spotlight, they still deserve new players as some are pretty fun.

My personal problem with rogue was the constant people who leave matches with no backfill and you're stuck with a 3v4, 2v4... Ruined my rank experience. But the casual modes were still fun enough like battle zone, real enjoyed that one.

With Rogue Company, i enjoyed playing it with a few of my friends a lot, but we eventually started playing Warzone and Fortnite a lot and kinda forgot about it. We were pondering what to play one day and we remembered it, and when we went to play it, They had COMPLETELY destroyed everything going for it. Guns has more bloom and the TTK was faster. So now you could only hit shots if your lucky and you died in 2 bullets. Looked it up and turns out they had changed and reverted it multiple times. We havent played since.

At best it’s alright, and I’ve been playing on and off for a few months at a time since the first month of closed beta. It’s gotten better but it’s still got a lot of issues, especially if you play on Switch because Switch players are a joke to Hi-Rez. On Switch you can’t play anything above 4v4 (Overwatch is 6v6 and RoCo can’t do that for some reason), the game crashes repeatedly just trying to run like normal, you can’t rejoin matches anymore so if the game crashes you lose all your exp and challenge progress, and forced crossplay between PC and consoles is garbage (again, especially on Switch).

Spellbreak will forever be my favorite game that never popped off. I can’t argue, it is hard to get into, and I was lucky that I was there since the early days and was able to grasp things when everyone was learning -even after leaving for a long while and coming back nothing has changed so I didn’t need to learn anything. I wish this game became something and I still enjoy hopping in and playing alone or with friends for a laugh, but there’s a reason I play more fortnite than spellbreak even though I personally like spellbreak more. Honestly I was pretty decent at Spellbreak and I played it a lot (mostly the poison gauntlet) and im thankful for it because it introduced me to the larger battleroyal gameing community but i Don think they minimal player base (and longer Que times becase of that) inadition to the low updates were really what killed at and I whould love for it to come back hopefully after learning from there past mistakes on the title. And if it did come back I'd try it out again.

Hyperscapes was such a good game but it died cause it couldn’t handle the playerbase 😢 I went and played it again the other day and it’s so fun but the problem with it is lobbies have like 7 players

I’m sorry but Hyperscape was annoying to play and way too tactical for me. Battle royales give you multiple ways to play, but Hyperscape was more or less forcing you to play it safe all the time, which I just didn’t enjoy

When I played 2042, I had no bugs or annoying issues. Although I could see that even though the game was dying super fast, it was just chaotic overall when playing against so many other people.

Yah same with me! The only issue for me was the specialists but other than that I had almost no bugs or stutters

If you ever make a next one in the near future, here's an idea: Eternal Return. It's basically a mix between a MOBA and a battle royale game, and I think it works pretty well. I really like the game, and it still gets updates, but sometimes, matchmaking can take up to 10-15 minutes. Maybe it's not deat, and I'm just playing at the wrong times, but still.

I was a Pre-Alpha tester for Spellbreak, I specifically started playing the game 10/25/2018. I was actually lucky enough for someone to notice my genuine intrigue for the game in the discord server and he gave me his extra download key, It was so fun and new at first, but by time the game fully released and everyone was talking about this "new game spellbreak" and I "had to play it with them" I had to explain to each and everyone one of them I was a pre alpha tester and lowkey already bored of the game before its release, I think I played the game maybe 2 times after the official release which is kinda sad seeing how excited I originally was to play it.
