I picked up the cycle when it was just at its beginning. It was originally a battle royal type game with in-game events and relied on completing objectives to get money and buy better guns from a shop that you could access at any time. This (In my opinion) was the better version of the cycle as it gave a breath of fresh air to the genre with most interactions happening between players and the environment. It might also have been the community as when meeting most players people would team up with the proximity chat. It is important to mention a thriving ranked system with multiple guides and updates throughout its roughly 2-3 year(maybe less idk) existence. Then when it got revamped into a Tarcov-like extraction-based shooter it still had that same whimsical appeal but with higher stakes. This made it interesting and fun with continuous updates throughout its shorter life of just over a year. The problem I found was obv the hackers, servers and whatnot but also the grind and scaring of new players as the community had seemed to lose that friendliness as seen in the game before. Just to add that friendliness was still there because every time I was killed, I would always hear over mic "Sorry dude it's for a mission" at least we got an explanation.

Do guys think Helldivers 2 will have good staying power? For me, I’ve put 90 hours on the game, haven’t hit level 50 yet. It isn’t because it’s bad, but because it is inconvenient and time consuming. Super credits seem to be rarer (if anyone has any idea what level spawns the most, I would love that. I can’t find any info on it anywhere) so getting new stuff takes at least 15 hours for 600~. Also, between school, studying for finals, work, excercise, and having time with family, Helldivers long run missions are inconvenient. Having shorter games modes that are just survival modes that give you super credits instead of samples, XP, or medals would be a way to retain the people with little time to grind. I would put down another 200 hours if the game had this retention and convenience.

@justarcheo8 ай бұрын
I've been involved with the cycle since the alpha of the very first version back in 2019, and I was really sad to see the game go. While you mentioned one of the main reasons, cheaters were more of a thing that started a very unfortunate series of events. Basically, development got slowed down to get as many people working on the cheater problem as possible. They fixed it well mind you, got a new anticheat, implemented gear refunds (you will get back items that you lost to cheaters) and season 2 was (from my experience) almost without cheaters, and even if you met any, you'd get your stuff back. Sadly, because most people were working on the cheater problem, other aspects of the game got left with less attention. Things weren't developed properly, implemented with patchwork solutions. Basically, Yager built up something called technical debt. Imagine you're trying to build a house, but while building the foundation, you run out of workers and have to make do with ducttape. It kind of holds together, but anything you build on top will be unstable. The Cycle was built with spaghetti code held together by "abstract ducttape" and any new additions they wanted to make were slowed down by a faulty game foundation. On top of that, add drama within the community that led to Yager communicating less and less and the final nail in the coffin, which, ironically enough, turned out to be Roblox. Roblox bought Hyperion, the anti-cheay Yager was working with, and with that, the cheaters returned late in season 3. It was really sad to see the game go. I've had the pleasure of playtesting stuff, sitting inside voice calls with the devs and talking about the game, their vision and sharing ideas/feedback. There really was a passion and a lot of talented people behind that project. It was really sad to see it go, and I hope their next game will share the cycles amazing art and atmosphere. Anyways, I gotta finish writing this so I can continue watching the video. Haaave fun!

Hi! I am a BIG fan of the game's first version when it was mostly focused on completing missions instead of being loot in general Which version of the game did you prefer? Like I mentioned, the first version of the game felt best for me as it didn't have the large consequence of losing everything like in most extract shooters, but while having a similar vibe
@justarcheo8 ай бұрын
@SnesySnas I liked both honestly. The first one was amazing because of the on-the-fly thinking and strategies. Sure the gameplay wasn't as intuitive as most games but once it began to click, it was amazing. But I have to admit that the first game didn't have the atmosphere or the mystery of the second one. The locations themselves didn't really play a big role apart from the evacs, and buildings or interiors were basically non existed. The frontier version did so much for the world. Frontier also created a lot of stories. There's a lot of crazy runs where I've met other people and something weird happened that I'll remember for a long time. Those things weren't as impactful in the old version. Oh and also, I think the frontier version had much more potential in terms of updates. There was only so much you could add to the old game, because it had an existing gameplay loop. The second one had way more freedom to experiment (like they did with the forge). It's a shame that thr freedom they had with Frontier never got used, because some of the ideas they had for the future were really great. Also, I'm ranting again, sorry for the long messages but it's been 6 months since someone mentioned thr cycle again :)

I don't want to see the finals one day on this list it's so fun to play with friends
@ExtraordinarilyOrdinary75 ай бұрын
@@Deisty I don’t think it will be up there for a while. It’s a unique game and I assure you if bigger games like CoD multiplayers and warzone don’t get cured of their problems people are gonna flood to something else but if Black ops 6 or any new fps game any good the level of popularity will prob be the same as it is now.

This is my worry as well icl but I think if they keep adding more content and updates it will be fine

I played a ton of The Cycle : Frontier and from a constant players perspective the beginning of the downfall was that (if you were good enough) you could just kill players who had endgame weapons and gear with "uncommon" SMGs so a lot of the player base quit with this low risk high reward strategy Era that many people used. After that it just ended with the cheater incident due to the game having this problem of a low player base so the cheaters would use it as a playground with no backlash, but when that backlash came the game was already dead + It being a free to play with in-game purchases was its main downfall from the start as a Extraction-Shooter. There was also the incident between the youtuber Tickle Me Pink and the developers of the game.

Still hop on shatterline sometimes by myself, but because it took me 72 hours to get level 5 weapons an none of my friends want to put that time into a small inconsistently updated game. It's not a "main" game to play.

I bought Starfield and enjoyed it. I "replayed" it twice. I love the atmosphere and aesthetic of the game. Seeing Beth updates it once in a while, I'm hoping they'd drop a huge one soon and I'll start playing again.

The death of the cycle was that the game changed so much from the alpha. Before It was a PvEvP Battle royale: you had your mission like extract material, kill zone bosses, capture PoI, ecc... ( Killing players gave points too but very Little). It also had a lot of cool features (like forming temporary squad with a random in solo mode at the cost of having less health and splitting the rewards). Than he tried to became the next tarkov, losing a lot of his players base. Such a shame

I wish Macro looked at Battle Bit player count while it was in early access and then recognized that when it launched it had a huge surprise player BASE jump but then returned to near it’s normal levels after the launch hype wore off. It’s definitely not dead or dying

You HAVE to make a Gigantic for noobs. A friend of mine who was dedicated to the game until its very end convinced me to buy it, and it's absolutely peak. If people cover it, it can have the chance to stay successful.

Gigantic is making a comeback. Although, I'd love for wizardry online to be back

Think a large part of why so many solid games seem to be dying is this: people just don’t have the time to play everything. The games industry is bigger than ever but let’s be honest you can only have so many favorite games that you go back to every week.
@VexTrooper7 ай бұрын
I recently picked up Gigantic: Rampage Edition, when it launched on console, and honestly, it's been a blast to play. All the characters are unique and have their own set of abilities, the combat and gameplay is fast, and cosmetics and skins can be earned through player progression and in-game currency. I honestly do hope the game keeps kicking. Although, one of the only downsides is the matching making is kinda bugged at times...

Shatterline was the only fun ive had in a competitive pvp fps, and the only one i genuinely played when my friends weren't online. It sucks that it shut down.

I bought Starfield, and have played through the entire main story. I then started NG+ right when I finished the main story, but then stopped playing once I realized none of my guns or resources or anything carries over to NG+. Pretty much the only thing that does are your skills. But I was so excited, I just got two dope guns from the final boss fight, and I couldn’t wait to use them throughout my NG+ playthrough, but nope, can’t use anything I had before.
