Oh, and for your struggle with that tiny power jack board, they sell some Weller branded “Helping Hands” at the Home Depot. It looks like a little man with a magnifying glass for the head, a metal block for a stand, and it’s feet, and some aligátor clips for hands. It’s actually quite handy for electronic soldering jobs.

I agree, as long as it is simple. I've got a Turbo Duo I haven't really bothered with that someone completely botched. Every cap was replaced and looks like hell, the board is burned, and there's broken traces all over - all due to one person f-ing it up. That's going to take a lot of work. I don't like stuff like that.
