once again reminding us how nice it was to have Radio Shacks...even picking out an project enclosure was fun

Love a good enclosure with my morning coffee .

That brings back memories. I built a lot of stuff in those. These days of course I just print what I need, with holes and internal support already formed.

I built a power supply using the Archer enclosure back in the day. I screwed up on the aluminum so I made a replacement using a piece of sheet metal. The sheet metal was from a dishwasher. Appliances would sometimes come with inserts so you could change the color so it was a good source of colored sheet metal.

I like those old style bakelite panel meters in the intro.

I love enclosures, they can become anything!

Nice boxes - the clear ones for exposing the innards, the sloped one for easy manipulation, the Hammond for pedals and whatnot... I probably have a small power supply in a case similar to that Archer.

I don't disagree... But the 'Pens and Pencils' jam is my fave

That clear acrylic case would be interesting to make something of a scene in, affix a solar module that can power it for years to the top, and then fill with resin.

Wow, brings back memories! I used that same Archer enclosure around 1982 to build a +/- 12v power supply from Craig Anderton's book "Electronic Projects For Musicians". Not sure if you've ever referred to that book on your channel but, it could be a fun review. I learned a lot from it. I still have the power supply and the book, somewhere.

My friend had that book back in the 90s. I remember we tried making the bass fuzz project and a couple of others. Unfortunately, some of the parts and ICs used in the schematics were obsolete with no cross references. Bummer, it would've been fun to actually complete a project from that book.

*I used one decades ago for a +5, +12 DC power supply. Illuminated square push on push off button.*

@3:03 Similar ones are still manufactured by Hammond. @7:10 I saw similar cases with vents on the sides on the circuitspecialists website.

Nice video, again. Consider a trilogy, please... So I started a power supply project nearly six years ago now, and every so often I look back at it and think about it. It started with a video of PileOfStuff making a power supply with a kit, then I put the schematic from that kit into simulation with that free simulator... Micro-Cap. Then I was starting to work on it, and the idea of modifications came up... and I think I gathered most all of the needed components including the transformer from salvage... And started to solder it... ....I guess I should look for the project in whatever state it's in. Probably needs an enclosure, darnit...🙃

I really like the ”treasures from the vault” episodes, and you sure have some treasures in your vault. I also like cool and rare displays and struggles to build my own collection, but it’s har to find at reasonable prices. The used market has gone crazy and people gives a fortune for old equipment, not for use, just to hamster. I’ll think that the old fine stuffs should be restored and put in use, but with current prices it’s impossible. Trying to find bargains to work with. I’m a long time admirer and a patrion since a couple of years.

At the risk of looking foolish, have you covered the inexpensive. shielded small-project enclosure, the Altoids tin.

We had a huge local electronic surplus shop that had an enormous selection of those blue and beige cases. I always liked the slope-top ones, but also couldn't think of a project I wanted to put them. Can't go wrong with Archer. Remember their red plastic experimenter boxes? That's what I could afford as a teenager. 😄
