12:56 Likely the hidden entrance to the Temple of the Eye, where Evil Eyes supposedly originated and worship their deity, Xktkez, a giant lidless eye that went underground to slumber and evil eyes spawn from his tear(s) in a pool from the temple (google "Vhalen", "Xktkez" for the lore). It's mentioned in EQ2 more than EQ1, but if you notice that both Runnyeye Goblins and Evil Eyes have opposing factions you can be non-KOS to, so it may have been something they were considering but never followed through. I was one of the nutjobs crazy enough to raise my faction above amiable to both and none of the Evil Eye named speak upon hails. Speaking of the goblins, you can hail and speak to Lord Pickclaw but he offers nothing but long paragraphs. Due to the dialogue bug, you have to clear your target list before speaking keywords (target him, hail, press escape, then say "Xorbb" with nothing on target). (Edit: can't bold the google phrases COME ON KZbin! also continued in next comment)
@uxtalzon7 жыл бұрын
(continued from last reply) The really early days of EQ had a regular goblin king in the Runnyeye Citadel before the Pickclaw Clan took them over, which is why you have two goblin factions in the zone. The whole reason for that is the lore changes to saying the Pickclaws rised up and fought back against the evil eyes (while in EQ2 the shattering made them begrudging allies). My theory: the original idea was killing evil eyes to get faction with goblins who'd give a secret/key to access Temple of the Eye, but plans changed. To save the effort of making a new zone with a probable raid target, they just changed lore to make goblins the stronger side and that's why Pickclaws drop that really valuable and useful blackened alloy stuff. Players have always asked why such good loot drops from pretty easy mobs, and that may explain why.

I was told that story, too. It makes some sense because those markers are in places where only evil races and factions can safely teleport to without getting mauled instantly. Either that, or that's the point where the gods made their mark on Norrath and it's not only a worship site but "summoning" (teleportation).

Recently discovered your Project 1999 videos, showed them to a few close friends, and we all agree: they're fucking excellent. For me personally, it's one of the absolute best things I've ever randomly stumbled across in two decades of internetting. The nostalgia factor is level 99 and the content is genuinely interesting, but your unique voice-overs, tremendous editing skills, and razor-sharp sense of comedic timing are what make it truly excellent. The... je ne c'est quoi... "sporadic, random forays into profoundly dark and weird tangents apropos of nothing, that you rapidly cut away from as if only realizing the fucked up nature of what you're saying in the moment itself", is a truly rare and special gift to your viewers. Please keep putting them out!

Klikniks vs klaknaks! Love it. That never did make any sense. And what's with the noise they make? It's like a cash register's ding combined with a broken typewriter. Later when you level up you can fight the grown up version of beetles in North karana! Are there beetles in dragon necropolis or am I imagining things? The lore behind the beetles is nearly limitless!

PS - That "red Cabilis symbol" is the symbol of the Sathirian Empire. Each section represents one of the old tribes; Jarsath, Kylong, Obulus, Nathsar, and and Kunzar. The symbol is still used because some Iksar don't consider the empire "ruined" - only Sebilis was technically destroyed. Which is some Iksar NPC's will still refer to Sebilis as "the capitol" and Venril as "The Emperor".

Concerning the chelsith stones: it does remind me of a calendar. There are four seasons on the outside, and in the inner we have a set of 9 dots representing months of growth, and three representing months of winter. The center reminds me of the most famous and pervasive myth related to seasons: the resurrection as in Demeter’s stay with hades during the winter.

This past summer I spent so much time in that Permafrost room grinding, and everyone I invited would question both the chelsith stone and the frozen king goblin =P The rare spawn in that room is "a goblin scryer", which is probably the best indicator in terms of EQ1 as to what the stone was used for.

The symbols are the original Ages in Everquest, events/deities that had an impact on Norrath. Age of Scale = Veeshan (middle) Age of Elders (points at Brell because he started the pact) includes Tunare, Prexus, and Brell. Rallos was there but didn't join. Next is Age of Monuments outside the circle, which has Cazic-Thule (top left), Bristlebane (top right), Rallos Zek (bottom right?), and Innoruuk (bottom left?). I mean, one looks like two bows (Vallon and Tallon Zek) and a center triangle stone representing Rallos, and in Paineel that triangle part is defaced maybe because of Rallos' failed attempt to kill the Rathe Council. The other symbol shows 3 blades together (3 races of Faydwer? Dwarves, Wood Elves, Gnomes?) and one bigger one broken away (High Elves turned into Dark Elves). Just my opinion though.

That symbol is the Caerthaelian Sigil, symbol of the capital city of the first nation of elves, under Innoruuk. His emblem is featured in the center of the ring. Outside symbols are very likely those representing either factions or more likely, schools of magic. Necromancy, Illusion, etc. Wherever the emblem is seen is likely a remnant of og pre-beta lore, and also a location that was under dominion of the elves on the continent.
